Dear Reader,
It is said that a journey starts with a single step… and this brand new issue, of a brand new miniatures magazine represents our very BIG step into the publishing world. Although we are only at the start line, the journey up to this point has been a long one. But here in PPHQ, we are confident that this new magazine is the natural progressive step for Petite Properties to take. Over the last decade, I have had the privilege to work alongside some incredibly talented people, who, combined with Mo’s support and enthusiasm, have given me the confidence to take on this exciting new publishing venture. The miniature world is traditionally divided into many different types of modelling and the scales that are used within them vary widely. Although I love literally anything little, my focus and interest has always been on the smaller scales. But despite this area within the dolls house world growing immeasurably in popularity; frustratingly this has not translated into any comprehensive magazine coverage. From feedback and direct experience, I know that our customers have searched for smaller scale content in numerous publications and over time they have become somewhat disillusioned at the lack of coverage that any scale other than 1:12 gets. So my solution is a simple one; one that you are either holding or reading online right now! So to put it very simply, our aim for this brand new miniatures magazine is to bring the smaller scales out from the wings, turn on the spot light and put them centre stage; where they belong! As a result, each of our quarterly issues will be packed from cover to cover with smaller scale content, which will share and champion the very best miniaturists, hobbyists, artisans and suppliers from throughout the smaller scale world. After what has felt like an epic journey and uphill climb to reach this point, I very much hope that you enjoy this issue and that it will mark a brand new and exciting chapter in smaller scale miniatures for us all!
