Our take on this minimalist classic for table top.
Missy Mazzoli Millennium Canticles
Inspired by the dark comedic play Mr. Burns by Anne Washburn in which a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world try to remember the plot of an episode of The Simpsons. They recreate the episode in an increasingly ritualised and exaggerated way to cope with their trauma and to find meaning in the world.
Anna Middleton Doubles
… but on bongos. Who will win?
Stephen Montague Philup Glass
A quiet lullaby for wine glasses.
Gene Koshinski/Tim Broscious Long Exposure
Inspired by photography techniques used to catch the blur of quick moving objects, Long Exposure was composed during the COVID-19 pandemic with the two composers working remotely from one another.
Tessela Gateway
Now part of electronic music powerduo OVERMONO, this track is one of Ed Russell’s earlier tunes. Gateway was release on R&S records in 2013.
Gemma Peacocke Death Wish
Inspired by one survivor of sexual assault describing her life spiralling out of control for many years and developing a death wish.
Anna Meredith/Sam Wilson Brisk Widow
This piece was inspired by Benjamin Britten’s folk song The Brisk Young Widow.
John Psathas Fragment
A simple and tranquil meditation in which gently pulsing chords provide hushed support to a delicate melody - originally composed as a piano duet to commemorate the occasion of the retirement of Psathas’s first piano teacher.
Steve Reich 2 x 5
Our exploded version of this rarely-played gem, originally scored for two rival bands of guitars, key and drums.
