Hello! As the year closes, thank you for being part of the Perkins Eastman Workplace + Strategy community. This year has shown that even amid change, there are opportunities to design spaces and experiences that support people at their best. Our focus has been helping leaders approach those opportunities through a humancentered lens.
Behavioral Science We applied behavioral science to one of today’s persistent workplace challenges: return to office. By looking beyond policies and mandates to habits, motivation, and environment, we explored why many RTO efforts stall—and how more intentional, experience-driven approaches can create real value for both organizations and employees.
Hominess Through our ONEder Grant–funded study, Someplace Like Home, we examined how comfort, identity, and psychological ownership shape experience in freeaddress offices. Shared via a microsite, podcast, and presentations at ANFA, this work continues to guide how workplaces can feel supportive, stable, and genuinely human.
Neurodiversity Neurodiversity remained a core focus. Building on past research, we shared insights at a national conference on how inclusive design can support different ways of thinking—strengthening individuals, teams, and organizations alike.
Industry Trends
We continued tracking shifts in key sectors, including legal workplaces. Our updated Changing Perspectives: Law report explores how evolving expectations, technology, and culture are reshaping work—and what those changes mean for the spaces that support it.
Looking Ahead In 2026, we’re expanding our research through academic collaborations on the relationship between the built environment and creativity—continuing to bridge research and practice in ways that lead to more thoughtful, human-centered outcomes. Human by Design is research grounded in lived experience, design informed by behavior, and spaces shaped around the people who use them.
