How Can We Design To Be Change Ready?

How Can We Design To Be Change Ready? [Greeting] The past two years have seen a rollercoaster of change. Now, as COVID-19 cases recede and businesses adapt, many find that the ‘old’ way of doing things no longer works. By one estimate, 74% of companies in the U.S. have, or plan to adopt, a permanent hybrid work model. But the large majority lack a clear hybrid work strategy. Through our experience in workplace projects across a wide range of industries, we know the design of the office can be a major driver of successful change. When space aligns with values and business goals, it pays dividends in employee engagement, retention, and productivity. Change management, carried out in conjunction with design, supports holistic and sustainable transformation. This is why our team uses an integrated approach, bringing together architects, strategists, organizational consultants, data scientists, and researchers to create intelligent, human-centered workplace solutions. As many of us have learned, the time to prepare for change is not once the change is already in motion. Studies from leading researchers at companies like McKinsey, the Boston Consulting Group, and the Harvard Business Review cite a 50–80% failure rate in change efforts and programs. The more complex the program, the higher the rate of failure. By anticipating future scenarios--and proactively implementing change management solutions--businesses can build resilience and adapt more readily to change. Considering the significant rate of transformation in the workplace today, preparing for unanticipated disruptions is more necessary than ever. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you about our unique approach to change management and how it supports our flexible, change-ready workplace solutions. Best,
