MEMBER NEWS WHAT A CHRISTMAS GOLF DAY! The Christmas Golf Game on 13 December brought together 127 golfers for a festive day of friendly competition and holiday cheer at Sentosa Golf Club. Despite dark skies earlier in the day, the weather held beautifully, allowing players to enjoy smooth rounds under pleasant conditions. Golfers embraced the Christmas spirit, turning up in vibrant shades of red and green, adding colour and energy across the course. The atmosphere was light-hearted yet competitive, reflecting the camaraderie that defines this annual favourite on the Club’s calendar.

VINCENT BOOKS QUICK RETURN TO LIV GOLF Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent sealed the season-long International Series Rankings title and a return to the LIV Golf League at the PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers in Riyadh in November, and he will be joined by Japan’s Yosuke Asaji. International Series Morocco champion Vincent had led the race going into the final event of the season in Riyadh on 325.59 points, 40.29 ahead of Asaji, who won last time out at the Moutai Singapore Open to move to 285.30. And despite a rough day on the course — Vincent carded a four-over 75 — his return to the big league was never in danger as his nearest challengers failed to earn the required finishes needed for a late rankings charge.

HIGA RETAINS ASIAN TOUR OVERALL TITLE Kazuki Higa has made history by becoming the first Japanese player to win the Asian Tour Order of Merit, sealing the prestigious title with a composed performance at the Saudi Open presented by PIF. The popular Japanese star signed off the season in style with a four-under-par 68 at the final event of the year, staged at Dirab Golf & Country Club near Riyadh. That round saw him finish tied seventh on 16-under par — more than enough to comfortably secure the season-long crown. Victory went to Sweden’s Bjorn Hellgren. Higa’s week in Saudi Arabia confirmed his position at the summit of the Order of Merit standings, where he finished the season on 2,082.34 points — a commanding 199.84 clear of Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent in second place.

THITIKUL TRIUMPHANT AGAIN World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul from Thailand captured the CME Group Tour Championship title for the second straight season in November taking home the $4 million first-place prize at Tiburón Golf Club. She was first-class throughout the week in Naples, Florida, only making three bogeys across four days and carding all four rounds in the 60s. Thitikul is the second player to win back-to-back CME Group Tour Championship titles alongside South Korea’s Jin Young Ko. She also broke the single-season scoring record on the LPGA Tour, which has stood since 2002 and was first set by Annika Sorenstam (68.697).

POOSIT WINS MAIDEN ASIAN TOUR TITLE There was further Thailand joy when Poosit Supupramai made a brilliant birdie on the par-four 18th to win the inaugural Bharath Classic 2025 Gujarat in November to record his maiden victory on the Asian Tour. A powerful nine iron to 10 feet, from where he duly converted for a three to close with a three-under-par 69 and a tournament total of 18-under, saw him win by one from Korean Wooyoung Cho, who returned a 65. The US$500,000 event was held at Kensville Golf Resort, just outside of Ahmedabad, and was joint-sanctioned with the newly-launched Indian Golf Premier League.

LPGA superstars set to take on The Tanjong A stellar field will battle it out for the HSBC Women’s World Championship title and, for the first time, Lydia Ko will be the defending champion.

To complete the impressive leaderboard Charley Hull was in a share of fourth while the 2024 champion Hannah Green was tied seventh. Ko’s final-round 69 owed much to a hat-trick of birdies from the 6th hole as she landed ‘Asia’s Major’ in what would turn out to be her only victory in 2025. “The greenkeepers and the whole team here do an amazing job. It doesn't take just a handful of people to make the course in this kind of condition, it’s the whole team and what they do throughout the year to make it look good for this one week. I would guess that if I came here six weeks or six months later, the course is probably going to be very similar to this. So as players, we're grateful,” the 2025 champion explained. “It’s one of the most consistent courses we play with regard to the conditions. The greens tend to get firmer throughout the week just because of the heat and the wind but the course is always in immaculate condition. You kind of know what to get here

and it's really consistent. In that sense, it's easier to prepare because you've already played it in similar conditions." Thitikul will be fancied by many to break her HSBC duck in the last week of February having featured prominently in her time in Singapore. The Thai World No. 1 actually played in the 2018 tournament after winning the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific over The Tanjong in a four-way play-off to qualify for the HSBC the following week. The then 15-year-old carded a bogey-free 66 to finish in a tie for 8th as Michelle Wie came roaring through the field with weekend rounds of 66-65. This year there will be a $3m prize purse, up $600,000 from last year, and Singapore will be one of 13 different countries that the LPGA Tour will visit in 2026. This will form part of the first of two multi-event swings in Asia and every round will be televised live on the Golf Channel. “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built, and even more excited about where we’re headed,” said Craig Kessler, LPGA commissioner. “This schedule reflects the work we’ve put into elevating our courses,

Tan came away from her week at Sentosa full of positives and she then went on to top the Ladies European Tour’s Order of Merit. The 21-year-old would win twice, add in six further top 10s and she would make history as the first player from Singapore to win the money list. “It means a lot to be the first person from Singapore to win the Order of Merit on the LET. Hopefully that gets juniors back home to try out golf and more will come through and play professionally as well. It’s always great to have one person that’s done it and it shows that it’s possible. It pushes me to do my best and I want to be a role model for everyone back home.”

Once again, the Singapore Open, the oldest golf tournament in the Republic that was inaugurated in 1961, will parade the best golfers in Asia and beyond as a tie-up between Sentosa and the Asian Tour. Three global tournament in the space of three months will be a test even for our magnificent teams across agronomy, F&B and grounds maintenance but we are looking forward to the challenge.

With two wins and nine top ten finishes across the 22 tournaments she played in 2025, Tan has cemented herself as one of the most consistent players on the tour, recording five eagles and 278 birdies throughout the year. Finishing on the podium four times, she proved time and time again that she belongs among the elite. 2025 was another impressive chapter for the 21-year-old trailblazer, who was only in her second full season on the LET after qualifying through the Lalla Aicha Q-School in December 2023. After winning the opening event of the 2024 season, the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, and representing her beloved Singapore at the Paris Olympic Games, it seemed 2024 would be hard to top for the Sentosa Golf Club ambassador. Yet she would go on to prove there was more to come. Tan’s 2025 LET campaign began with a podium finish at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, where she ended just one shot behind the eventual champion. The young talent followed that strong start with steady performances in both the individual and team events at the PIF Saudi Ladies International, the opening stop of the new PIF Global Series, created to elevate women’s golf through a partnership between the LET and Golf Saudi. Singapore’s standout talent returned home to Sentosa Golf Club in February for the HSBC Women’s World Championship, this time on the LPGA Tour, finishing tied 34th on The Tanjong in a field glittered with the globe’s elite; another excellent showing on home soil. Reflecting on the impact of Sentosa Golf Club on her career so far, Tan shared “I just want to say a big thank you to everyone at Sentosa Golf Club for all the support, encouragement, and well-wishes. Sentosa Golf Club is a happy place for me, and the kindness and generosity from everyone there honestly stays with me wherever I go." Tan continued to excel in the early months of the year; in fact, she did not

Singapore's rising star won by one shot in Delhi, to win her second tournament of 2025, which propelled her to the top of the LET Order of Merit rankings. Tan then consistently performed throughout the rest of the year, going head-to-head with England's Mimi Rhodes for the number one spot on the LET Order of Merit rankings. The season concluded in Spain with Tan coming out on top and becoming the first player from Singapore to win the title. Looking back on her achievement, Tan said "Winning the LET Order of Merit was an incredible moment, an ambition fulfilled so early in my career. PAULA CREAMER In 2014 Paula Creamer created one of the moments in HSBC Women's World Championship history when she somehow sunk a 75-foot eagle putt to edge out Azahara Munoz on the second play-off hole. The Major champion reflects on that putt and her career in the game. What do you remember of the iconic putt?

What about off the course?

It's one of those putts where if you just get it in the right spot, it's going to fall down but I could stand there all day long and I don't think get it within six, seven feet.

I love fashion and I think that's another reason why I like Singapore so much is everybody just dresses so nice and they look so well put together and presentable.

What was the thinking before the putt?

How would you describe the first impressions of The Tanjong?

I wish you could kind of hear me talking to my caddy – I said, I know the higher I play it, it's going to be the fastest coming down, but it's really the only way that I can get it somewhat close or make it.

It just shows you how you can balance your life, your personal life, being a mother, being a wife, and being a top competitor, all at the same time. How does being a child dancer help with confidence?

I tried it again in 2015. I didn't stand there and putt 25 balls. I just thought that one or two times would be kind of fun.

You only have three minutes to go out there and do what you have to do. It makes you tougher, it makes you stronger. I don't know if my career would be the same if I wasn't a dancer.

You must still really treasure that victory?

Where does pressure come from?

Besides my US Open trophy, it's my only other trophy at my house, and I think that says a lot, my parents have all my other trophies.

The most pressure comes from myself and not from what people think or what their expectations are for me. It comes from what I want and my goals.

Have you recreated it?

How special a week is the HSBC? I have always had such a great time when I'm here in Singapore. When you enjoy yourself at tournaments, it brings the best out of you. I love the city, I love the food, I love the people.
