Year 5 Collaboration with Africa Collect Textiles Exploring Textile Lifecycles: Learn where clothes come from, what happens after use, and their environmental impact. Weaving & Design Skills: Practice traditional weaving, experiment with colour, pattern, and texture. Upcycling for Sustainability: Repurpose fabric waste and unusual materials to promote conscious consumption. In Games the children will be working on developing their core hockey skills through training and interschool matches. They will develop their passing, shooting, dribbling, tackling and hitting skills as well as their tactical and spatial awareness skills. P.E. Fitness Training: developing stamina, strength, flexibility, speed, and agility. Understanding the benefits of exercise on the body and the dangers of poor fitness. Introduction to the importance of exercise and lifelong healthy living. Gymnastics & Skipping: to improve coordination; rolling, balance & flight. The main focus for Year 5 children is skill development. Lessons focus on improving all four stroke competitive skills and sculling to enable a better “feel for the water”. Development of stroke techniques to achieve efficiency especially in Breaststroke and Butterfly.
