When I first encountered The Lost Virginity Tour, I was struck not just by its humor but by its honesty. Beneath the outrageous stories and road trip antics is something deeply recognizable: the way we use laughter to navigate vulnerability, friendship, and the moments that shape who we become.
This play isn’t really about “losing virginity” in the literal sense— it’s about the firsts that define us. First risks, first heartbreaks, the first times we realize we are not who we thought we were. Each character carries her own version of that story, and together, they create a hilarious and heartfelt portrait of growing up—one that is often more honest than we allow ourselves to be.
As a director, I was drawn to the dynamic between these women—the way they challenge, support, and occasionally drive each other completely crazy. I think many of us can see ourselves somewhere in that car: in the bravery, the insecurity, the storytelling, and the longing to be understood.
In rehearsal, we spent a great deal of time building a shared history for these characters. Before we ever staged a scene, we explored the specifics—who interrupts, who deflects with humor, who holds onto things longer than she admits. Those details began to shape the performances, giving each relationship a sense of history and authenticity. We found ourselves sharing pieces of our own stories— sometimes funny, sometimes unexpectedly tender—which deepened both the trust in the room and the connections onstage.
And then there were the discoveries that only happen in a rehearsal room: a throwaway line that suddenly lands differently, a moment of chaos that reveals something deeper, laughter that derails a run-through because it hits just a little too close to home. Those are the moments that remind me of why I love this process.
Ultimately, The Lost Virginity Tour is a celebration of friendship, self-discovery, and the stories we tell to make sense of our lives. I hope you see a piece of yourself in these characters—and maybe leave remembering one of your own “firsts” along the way.

Pentacle Theatre in Salem is located within the ancestral homelands of the Kalapuya, Yamhill, and Luckiamute people who have lived here since time immemorial.
In the 1850s, these tribes were displaced by colonization and were eventually resettled on reservations. We celebrate and honor the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz members, their resilience, and their present and future right to this land.

Karen McCarty Director
Karen has been an active member of the Pentacle Theatre community since she and her husband, Chris, saw their first performance in 1999. They immediately knew this was a place where they wanted to volunteer their time. Since then, she has served on the hospitality guild, managing it with Chris for 20 years, and served on the Governing Board. She has also given her time to many committees that keep Pentacle Theatre alive.
Karen has directed six other shows at Pentacle Theatre. Her most recent shows were In-laws, Outlaws and Other People (That Should Be Shot), Ripcord, and Exit Laughing. She directed two musical fundraisers performed at Elsinore Theatre: Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. Karen has been the costume designer for 23 shows and the assistant director for 10 shows at Pentacle Theatre.
Karen recently retired (again) from DMV after working there for 35 years. This gave her more opportunity to volunteer her time at the Assistance League of Salem-Keizer.
Karen is forever grateful to her family, who have always supported her by bringing her meals during rehearsals, trying on costumes for fit and design, and building set pieces for her shows.
Beverly L. Freitas Assistant Director
Beverly is excited to be working once again with another very talented cast and crew as assistant director on this lovely show. Her previous Pentacle Theatre experience includes assistant directing A Comedy of Tenors (2025) and Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley (2025), as well as lights, sound, and crew work on Over the River and Through the Woods, Rabbit Hole, and Ripcord. On stage, she has appeared as Kate in Brighton Beach Memoirs (2023/24) and as Mother Miriam Ruth in Agnes of God (2025).
A retired professional, Beverly is now a dedicated volunteer at Pentacle Theatre. She serves as Co-Chair of the Hospitality Guild.
Beverly has been happily married to her supportive (and very patient) husband for 45 years and is the proud mother of two sons who live and work in California and Chicago. Outside of theater, she enjoys camping, fishing, reading, writing, and crafting.
She extends heartfelt thanks to Karen McCarty for her trust and mentorship in asking her to be her Assistant Director, along with the entire Pentacle Theatre family for their tireless support and friendship.

Viola McGee
Robin is excited to help tell this sweet, funny, impactful story! She has appeared previously on the Pentacle stage as Janet in In-laws, Outlaws, and Other People (That Should be Shot) and as Betty Blast in Footloose. She also works with the theater as a costumer, most recently on You Can’t Take it With You, and on the upcoming production of Rumors. When not on stage, Robin enjoys attending live theater, traveling, and exploring new creative outlets. She would like to thank the incredible cast and crew for including her on this journey, as well as her Pentacle community, friends, and family for their support and encouragement.
Patti Hasbrouck Kitty Warmerdam
Recently seen at the Pentacle Theatre in You Can't Take It With You as The Grand Duchess Olga Katrina, Patti has also portrayed Millie in Exit Laughing, and assisted with costumes and props in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and Ripcord. Patti is grateful to Jo Dodge for her excellent workshops, which helped give her the confidence to audition! She hopes to continue participating in Pentacle Theatre activities. Patti has lived in the Salem area for eight years, and enjoys art, jewelry making, a good road trip, and hiking in the beautiful Oregon hills.

Joyce Kemp Voice of Kitty’s Mom
Joyce is delighted to be included in this production with four such wonderful actors (and gal-pals as well!), along with a stellar directorial team. Active in community theater for over 35 years, Joyce moved to Salem 13 years ago and found Pentacle Theatre to be an amazing vehicle to make new friends, and even later branched out to other local theaters. Performances at Pentacle have included The Importance of Being Earnest, The Trip to Bountiful, Leading Ladies, and The Elephant Man A retired R.N., Joyce has also enjoyed volunteering in many other capacities at Pentacle, including stage managing, serving in the Hospitality Guild, working as a seamstress, serving on the Script Reading Committee, and, in years past, serving as House Manager. She is thrilled to add voice-over to her Pentacle experiences.

Debbie is thrilled to return to the Pentacle stage! She has been an active member of this “little theatre in the woods” since 1980. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous shows, including Seascape, The Immigrant, Light Up the Sky, Other Desert Cities, and the 2019 production of Dashing Through the Snow. Additionally, she has worked on costumes, lights, sound, and backstage crew, and served on the Pentacle Board, as well as various committees. Debbie has also directed 10 shows at Pentacle, including The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (2023), The Diary of Anne Frank (2016), and last season’s Black Comedy. Debbie is a retired middle school teacher. These days, when she is not immersed in theater, she loves reading, traveling, working on endless house projects, enjoying time with friends and family, and running after two very spoiled dogs. As always, Debbie would like to thank her husband, Mike, for his endless patience, love, support, and encouragement.

Kelli is delighted to return to the Pentacle stage for this meaningful production with its messages of the power of honesty, friendship, and hope. She has performed in nearly 20 Pentacle shows and numerous productions throughout the valley. Her most recent credits include Hairspray (Ensemble), The Prom (Mrs. Green), Exit Laughing (Leona), Shrek the Musical (Witch), and Mamma Mia! (Tanya) at Pentacle Theatre. Other favorite roles include Much Ado About Nothing (Leonata) with Struts & Frets Theatre Company and Acts of Creation (Reed) with Theatre 33.
Offstage, Kelli works as an intimacy director and serves on the theater’s development committee, supporting both its artistic vision and community mission. Outside of theater, she enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and laughing with friends. Many thanks to the cast and crew of this fun and relevant production! “No regrets. Cricket Daniel Playwright
Playwright Cricket Daniel calls Bend, Oregon home, but her roots and heart belong to California. Born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley, she holds a theater degree from UC Santa Barbara and brings a dynamic background in improv, standup, radio, and theater to everything she creates. Her award-winning plays have graced stages across the country, and she is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild of America. Off the page, Cricket has been happily married to her husband, Jason, for 31 years — together they raised their daughter, Spencer, now a senior at Oregon State University. A sincere thank you to Kathy Saviers, a dedicated season ticket holder of more than 20 years. Her generous $5,000 donation allowed Facilities Chair Liz Rogers to address parking lot safety. Trees were removed, the area cleaned, and lines repainted. The improvement is remarkable.

Work has begun on the next phase of back deck repairs behind the lobby. This phase is estimated at $55,000. While we have received generous support, additional fundraising is needed to ensure lasting improvements for the next 20-plus years. Please consider donating today.

TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets for upcoming productions are available online at pentacletheatre.org, in person at the box office (197 Liberty St. SE, Salem), or by phone 503-485-4300. Box office hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 11am – 5pm.
CONCESSIONS
Concessions are available in the lobby. Wine and beer can be purchased along with an assortment of other beverages and brought with you to enjoy during the show. Food is not permitted in the auditorium. Purchase a souvenir cup and receive $1 off your next drink.
NO LATE SEATING
Once the production begins, the theater doors will be closed for further seating. If you arrive after the doors have been closed, you are welcome to view the production on the monitors in the lobby downstairs.
If you need to leave the theater during the performance, you can view the production on the monitors in the downstairs lobby, and catch up with your party when they exit at the end of the show.
SMOKING
Smoking is allowed only in the designated area outside the lobby.
NO RECORDING DEVICES
Cameras (with or without flash) and recording devices are strictly prohibited. Please turn off cell phones during the performance.
