James (Jamie) H. Greene, Jr., W’72, PAR’05, ’08, ’10
Alumni Award of Merit • Penn Club Member Since 1994
Q:Whatdoesreceivingthisawardmeantoyoupersonally?
A: I am very honored to have been chosen as a recipient of an Alumni Award of Merit.
Q:HowhasyourPennexperienceshapedyourcareerandlifepath?
A: Penn has been a very important part of my life path. I found my first job through the Penn Career Counseling Office when I was a Senior. I was totally prepared for my first job at Bankers Trust Company in New York as a result of my Wharton undergraduate education. At Penn I made life long friends through my fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, my athletic endeavors as a Penn Intercollegiate football and lacrosse player, being chosen to become a member of the Friars Senior Society and throughout campus. I have been very fortunate to have served the University as a Trustee for many years; currently I am an Emeritus Trustee, a member of the Board of Penn Medicine, Chair of the Athletics Board of Advisors and a member of the Lacrosse Alumni Board. All three of our children graduated from Penn and my daughter recently joined the Board of Advisors of the Graduate School of Education. Obviously, Penn has been incredibly important to me over the years.
Q:HowhasbeingamemberofthePennClubenrichedyouralumniexperience?
A: I was an early Member of the Penn Club of NY and have enjoyed my membership. I live near San Francisco so I am not at the Club with any consistency but I have used the facility for lunches, dinners, workouts and overnight accommodations. Everyone has the common bond of Penn and the staff is terrific.
Q:WhatdoyouseeasthemostimportantrolealumnicanplayinsupportingPenn'scommunity?
A: Our University has so much to offer through the Alumni Relations Office and the different Schools and Centers. Alumni should get involved in something they are passionate about. Penn is always looking for volunteers to help out.
Q:Isthereanythingyou'dliketosharewithfellowPennClubmembers?
A: Our exceptional University has stabilized under the leadership of President Larry Jameson and our Chair of the Trustees, Ramanan Raghavendran. Wonderful things are happening on our campus. You should be very proud to be associated with Penn!

Q:Whatdoesreceivingthisawardmeantoyoupersonally?
A: I am so appreciative of this award, as it caps my undergraduate years at Penn when I was able to take History of Art courses which opened my eyes to a new world of art, both appreciating and creating it.
Q:HowhavetheartsbeenapartofyourlifesinceyourtimeatPenn?
A: The Penn Club has helped me maintain relationships and build new ones as Susan T. Marx CW’66
A: My career is focused on fund development for non-profits, but my avocation — which brings me great joy --is as a sculptor/stone carver.
Creative Spirit Award • Penn Club Member Since 1994 Past President of The Penn Club more recent graduates become members. The variety of interesting programs keeps me coming back frequently.
Q: How has being a member of the Penn Club enriched your alumni experience?
Q: What arts programs or initiatives at Penn are you most passionateabout?
A: The Susan T. Marx Distinguished Lecture Series at the Arthur Ross Gallery brings internationally renowned artists to the Penn campus and gives students a chance to hear first hand about their art, their process and their inspiration. I endowed this Lectureship in appreciation of opening the world of art to me during my years at Penn.
Q: Is there anything you'd like to share with fellow Penn Club members?
A: Hopefully, Penn Club members will take advantage of the many opportunities presented to them—stimulating programs, great food and opportunities to network, socialize, form lifelong friendships and HAVE FUN!!

The Penn Club is incredibly proud to celebrate these two distinguished members as honorees at the Gala Alumni Awards. If you see them around the Club, please join us in congratulating them on this welldeservedrecognition!
