Spotlight: Laura Jannetta (C’25) , Member Since 2025
Q: What motivated you to become a member of The Penn Club?
A: I was first introduced to the Penn Club during my junior year at Penn, while I was serving as the Business Manager for the Penn Glee Club. The Glee Club is the oldest performing arts group at Penn and is known as the musical ambassador of the university. In 2023, the Glee Club was honored to be invited to perform at the Penn Club’s Jingle Bell Banquet. In the process of organizing the logistics of the performance, I had the opportunity to meet and work with several of the Penn Club’s outstanding staff members. On the day of the event, the Glee Club was welcomed with such warmth and hospitality it was a truly memorable experience. I returned with the Glee Club to perform at the same event the next year and was again met with open arms. As I finished out my senior year and determined that my next steps would take me to New York, I knew that I wanted the Penn Club to be a part of this next chapter. Since joining, not only have I had the opportunity to meet lots of people and take part in numerous events, but every time I step through the doors, I feel that same sense of welcoming and belonging that I did on my very first visit
Q: Can you share a bit about your background and professional journey?
A: I graduated from Penn last May with a B A in Visual Studies, with a concentration in Philosophy and the Science of Seeing and minors in Consumer Psychology and Design I moved to New York after graduation and have been working at a digital marketing agency since June I’m very grateful for the opportunities my Penn education provided me and feel my coursework and experiences prepared me extremely well to enter my career.
Q: Can you highlight a memorable experience or event from your time as a member?
A: Since joining the Club in 2025, I have had the privilege of serving on the Young Alumni Committee The YAC has not only given me the opportunity to meet other likeminded young people eager to get involved with the club, but it has also allowed me to take initiative and seek out events that I feel passionate about. As some of the youngest members of the Penn Club, our needs and interests sometimes vary from the rest of the club, and it is refreshing to know that there is an avenue for us to voice our opinions and get involved.
Q: Are there any upcoming events or projects you're excited about?
A: Yes! Next Monday, May 4 , the Young Alumni Committee is hosting “Life and Afterlife in Ancient Thebes” in collaboration with the Penn Museum. Two emerging Penn scholars will join us for a historical exploration of Dra Abu el-Naga, from its richly decorated tombs and the individuals who commissioned them to the material remains uncovered during Penn Museum excavations in the early twentieth century. Drawing on recent research, excavation records, and archival material, the talk will examine how archaeologists use remains of the past to illuminate the lives, beliefs, and social networks of the people buried in this ancient necropolis The event will take place Monday, May 4 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Penn Club and you can RSVP on the Penn Club app or by emailing events@pennclubny org We hope to see you there! th th

This April, The Penn Club launched its first-ever Staff Step Challenge, inviting team members across all departments to lace up and get moving throughout the month The staff member with the most steps by April 30th took home a $250 prize. We are thrilled to congratulate Jonah Acosta from our Engineering team for hitting over 1,200,000 steps in April the equivalent of walking approximately 600 miles, or roughly the distance from New York City to Chicago! It has been a fun and energizing way to build camaraderie across our teams while encouraging healthy habits. Congratulations, Jonah! That is truly an incredible achievement!
