Q: What motivated you to become a member of The Penn Club?
A: I was introduced to members’ clubs while living in London and came to value the sense of community, culture, and intellectual exchange they foster When I began working in New York, I wan-
ted to find a similar space, somewhere that felt both refined and reflective The Penn Club offered exactly that balance.
Q: Can you share a bit about your background and professional journey?
A: I am Ethiopian by heritage and naturally curious by temperament. I’m a musicophile, an avid ultramarathon runner, enjoy cigars, speak several languages, and fly planes I founded my wine business while studying in Scotland. Prior to that, I knew very little about wine and did not grow up in an environment where alcohol was part of the culture. Over time, however, I developed a deep appreciation for the craft for the grapes, the land, and the people behind each bottle. Wine is one of the most handmade products in the world. From planting the vines to harvest, ageing, and ultimately sharing it at the table, it is a profoundly beautiful process that weaves together geology, artisanal mastery, agriculture, and history That intersection of nature and craftsmanship continues to inspire me.
Q: Can you highlight a memorable experience or event from your time as a member?
A: Some of my favourite moments at The Penn Club are the quiet ones, sitting in the library to reflect, occasionally hearing fellow member Daniel Glickman
playing the piano in the background There’s something timeless about the Benjamin Franklin Library
Q: Are there any upcoming events or projects you're excited about?
A: On March 31 , The Penn Club Wine Society is hosting an Italian vertical tasting, exploring wines from the same producer across different vintages st
Q: Favorite Quote?
A: “True success is making peace with yourself.”
This is an idea I’ve been wrestling with: true success isn’t about what you have or achieve it’s about feeling at peace with yourself.
If you spot Eyoel at the Club, don't miss the chance to say hello, or better yet, join us for our upcoming Wine Society Vertical Tasting on Tuesday, March 31 !st
