GENERAL MANAGER MESSAGE Dear Members, We celebrated our first year with Safe Harbor Marinas on July 13th. We appreciate all of the upgrades and the investment that they are making in SHPYC their only private yacht club. We are excited to share that we have over 50 new member families to add to our membership! We look forward to seeing all of the new faces at our events, pool, dining and on the docks. The Beacon Team is back! Thank you for the volunteers who have signed up to welcome our new members. We look forward to all of the events in August, especially the Cardboard and Inflatables Boat Race and Family Carnival! This annual event is a fun one for the whole family! Don't forget to get your cardboard and get started soon. We will also have some inflatables for you to race on too! Our pool hours in August are changing. Please see more details on page 8. We are excited to begin contruction soon for our new grill, bar and restrooms at the pool. The Ship's Store has many items on sale. Don’t forget to stop by! Camps are going strong and the kids are having a blast! We still have availability in the Day Camps and Toddler Camps for August 9-13th. Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that has been played in Asia for over 300 years. The game is hard to master, but it’s fairly easy to learn the basics. DINING NEWS Over the past few months, it has been my pleasure, to bring an enjoyable and lively wine program to SHPYC. However, I am always looking to make improvements! As I have been able to learn your palates, preferences and listen to your recommendations, I have been diligently working to provide a wine program that I believe can achieve that. Starting Thursday, August 5th, we will be launching a brand new wine program for you. A broader wine selection with new additions each month, as well as a brand new Thursday Wine Night! BOATING & MARINA NEWS Shore Power Cord Inspection
Let’s make August “shore power inspection month.” Unlike what most boaters think, shore cords do not last the life of the boat. These cords can become worn due to weather, sun, and animals that like to chew. Take a few minutes and inspected your cord entirely. 1. Make sure the breaker is SHUT OFF! 2. Start at the boat side and make your way to shore side. Look for any burn marks, chaffed areas, “chewed” areas, and don’t forget the area under the dock!!! 3. If you need assistance, please let your marina staff know and we will be happy to help. 4. If you need a cord replaced call or email the store and we will pull the old one and replace with a new one. 5. Cord protectors are also available.

FLEET COMMITTEE NEWS I want to welcome everyone back to the club after an exceptionally long year off. I love seeing all the familiar faces as well as the many new members that have joined recently! With that said I would like to reiterate the purpose of the Social Committee, which is to support the PYC and the Fleet Committee in personalizing club events for the membership’s enjoyment. Some ways we try to do that is to offer new ideas to the PYC management, enhance communication of our club’s activities and encourage participation in all the wonderful social opportunities that PYC has to offer. There are so many ways to take advantage of our club and we are always looking for more! I would like to invite you to attend the Social Committee meetings to both listen to proposed plans as well as offer any creative ideas. They are held the first Thursday of each month at 6pm for an hour. There is no obligation to attend every meeting but it’s a great way to get involved at any level you’d like. We value your input, your ideas, and your time and always need volunteers on fun activities! Ladies Day Out was a fun, once-amonth day that was put on the shelf during the pandemic which we’d like to start again. We are looking for a creative, outgoing person to headup this effort. I will work with you to plan lunches, crafts, daytrips, themed events, etc. If you think this would be something you would be interested in, please email me (jankurdin@gmail.com).
