The bulls at weaning were vaccinated for IBR, BVD, PI3, BRSV, 7-Way & Haemophilus, and Ivomec poured.Our health program is handled through Dr. Holly RoeJohnson at the Hosmer Vet Clinic. BREEDING GUARANTEE: All bulls, 12 months of age and over at the time of the sale are guaranteed breeders. Cattle believed to be non-breeders are returned to the seller at the buyer’s expense. CONTRACT: The above terms and conditions of sale shall constitute a contract between buyer and seller of each animal and shall be equally binding on both. Each sale or resale of an animal constitutes a separate transaction. The owners assume no liability, legal or otherwise. LIABILITY: The owner cannot be responsible for any accidents, but every effort will be made to provide for the safety and comfort of those attending the sale. Each animal will be at the buyer’s risk as soon as sold. Every precaution will be taken for the welfare of the cattle sold. Dear Cattlemen and Friends, We would like to invite you to join us Friday, March 5, 2021, for our Annual Production Sale. We would like to take the time to welcome you to our sale facility with our goal being to accommodate everyone the best we can. As we host our annual sale this year, many things will stay the same. As always, the bulls will be sold by video, with each lot penned for easy viewing prior to the sale. We would also like to have you join us prior to the sale for a complimentary lunch. With the continued challenges of Covid, if anyone is not able to attend the sale but is interested in the offering, give Matthew or Calvin a call and we can find a way to accommodate you and help you make a purchase. If you plan to attend and feel more comfortable, masks are welcomed but not required. Like every year, the bulls are available for viewing anytime at the ranch. We will also have videos up on every lot through Dvauction. Now to talk about our cattle, our predominantly polled cow herd is bred to convert ranch grass and roughage into meat. As we strive to achieve improvement, we use criteria including performance, rib ultrasound, EPD’s, structural correctness, and disposition for determining the bulls to be offered. Recognizing the fact that each breeder selects for different traits, we supply the following information: birth weight, 205-day adj. weight, 365-day adj. weight, rate of gain, current EPDs, and ultrasound rib-eye area. Most of the bulls in the offering are in 6 to 7 frame score range. In developing these bulls, none of the bulls receive any individual feeding or pampering. Each bull competes with all of the other bulls in their age group to provide you an honest performance comparison. Feed ration formulated by Cattlecents Consulting, DeWayne Siebrasse, Aberdeen, SD. We will again offer the live broadcast of the sale over the Internet at www.dvauction.com. Explanation of EPDs Birth Weight EPD (BW) The expected difference in average birth weight (pounds) of progeny. Birth weight reflects prenatal growth. Weaning Weight EPD (WW) The expected difference in average weaning weight of calves. The evaluation reflects the genetic influence on pre-weaning growth rate. Yearling Weight EPD (YW) The expected difference in average yearling weight of progeny. The evaluation reflects genetic influence on both preweaning and post-weaning growth rate. Maternal Milk EPD (M) The genetic ability of a sire’s or dam’s daughters to express in pounds of weaning weight in her calves due to her maternal ability through mothering instinct and milk. Total Maternal EPD (TM) A value to predict the weaning weight performance of calves from an animal’s daughters due to genetics for growth and maternal ability. Total Maternal is calculated by adding ½ the WWT EPD to the Maternal Milk EPD.

Terminal Sire Index (TSI) The AICA Terminal Sire Index (TSI) is a formal method of combing Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) – BWT, WWT, YWT, REA, HCW, MARB and FAT – into one single value on which to base selection decisions. The TSI uses estimates of the genetic relationships between traits with an economic default value based on three year rolling USDA data.
