Welcome! We look forward to welcoming you to the Little Goose Ranch 5th annual production sale at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, hosted at Buffalo Livestock Auction. The sale offering will consist of 54 yearling bulls, 12 open replacement heifers, and one youth donation heifer, predominately sired by Little Goose Ranch PO Box 770 owned bulls. The sires have been selected for their ability to balance maternal traits with performance to Big Horn, WY 82833 develop ideal replacement heifers and sought-after feeder steers. We continue in our pursuit to stack pedigrees with maternally superior sires and dams that will produce excellent offspring to move both your herd and our herd forward. The genetic combinations are intended to be balanced, limiting excessive growth which increases mature cow size and therefore, energy/feed requirements. Our environment, as with many of yours, has limited feed resources. It is necessary to seek out cattle that are efficient converters in these types of environments to remain profitable and productive. This past summer’s drought in the western region has made this abundantly clear. We manage our cow herd as most commercial producers would, our cattle run in a real-world environment along the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains. The heifers calve alongside the mature cows with no head start and are part of the same contemporary grouping as the mature cows. This breeding philosophy enables us to keep a tight calving interval, uniform aged calf crop, and enhances fertility by keeping females that breed within a 45-day period. The cattle have been developed on the ranch with first cutting grass hay and a bull grower pellet. We continue to have success with this method, allowing us to maintain a hands-on approach with the cattle, providing opportunity for us to evaluate docility, structural correctness, and performance. The cattle are on a complete mineral and vaccination program. All animals have been genomically tested for parentage verification through Angus GS. DNA testing gives the added benefits of Genomically Enhanced EPDs, testing free of all known genetic defects and tested BVD-PI negative. The sale offering videos will be posted on the ranch website, littlegooseranch.com, after the New Year Holiday. The cattle will be available for viewing at Buffalo Livestock Auction on Friday, January 21, 2022, or any time prior to that on the ranch. If you are unable to attend the sale and would like to participate as an absentee buyer, it will be broadcast on Superior Livestock. Guarantee: Bulls are guaranteed 100% to be sound healthy breeders for the first breeding season. The breeding season is defined as the first 90 days from turn-out time. All bulls will be given 50% of the purchase price of the injured bull less the salvage value towards credit in next year’s sale or towards the value of a replacement bull if one is available. Terms of Sale: Cattle will sell under the suggested Terms and Conditions of the American Angus Association (http://www.angus.org/Pub/suggested_sale_terms.pdf). Terms of sale are cash. Payment for cattle is expected to be in full at the conclusion of the sale unless arrangements have been made prior to the sale.
Herd Health: All cattle are eligible for shipment anywhere in the United States, although some states may require additional testing prior to shipment. All cattle have been tested negative for BVD. All cattle are free of any known genetic defects.
Wintering And Delivery: All bulls will winter free of charge until April 1. Little Goose Ranch will deliver free of charge up to 500 miles and then at cost beyond 500 miles. Please leave detailed delivery instructions at the time of buyer registration with the Buffalo Livestock Auction office. The heifers are for immediate delivery unless prior arrangements have been made. Announcements: Announcements from the sale block take precedence over any printed material. Carcass Weight EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Docility (DOC), is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. It predicts the average difference of progeny from a sire in comparison with another sire’s calves.
Marbling EPD (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Maternal Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.
Maternal Value ($M), an index expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences in progeny due to genetics from conception to weaning.
Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for preweaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk, and mature cow size. Combined Value ($C), an index expressed in dollars per head, includes all traits that make up both $M and $B with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd.

Turn in Bids Over the Phone. This is our traditional method of buying livestock. Select the registration form for Superior Productions and print the registration form, fill it out and fax it in to Superior Productions at (817) 378-3380 with a signature on it, or scan and email the form to info@superiorauction.com. Upon receipt of this information, Superior will call you with a buyer’s number and the bid line phone number that you will use on sale day to place bids over the phone. Click-To-Bid. This is Superior’s online bidding platform for cattle buying. Please note that high speed internet is required – this is not for dial-up or satellite internet. Registration is free, but you must become a member of www.superiorclicktobid.com to sign up. Becoming a member is easy - just go to the homepage of www.superiorclicktobid.com and follow the out-lined steps to get started. Input your information and select a username and password. You will receive an e-mail confirming you are a member. ANGUS GS INFORMATION
Driving the science of better breeding There’s little room for error in the cattle business. Producers need the most advanced information to make smart selection decisions, and Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) provides it through genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs). GE-EPDs have become the industry standard for herd improvement, building on decades of science-backed genetic evaluation tools originated and maintained through the American Angus Association®, home to the largest and ever-growing single-breed beef cattle database. EPDs that traditionally contained all pedigree, performance and progeny information now also include results from available genomic, or DNA, tests. Breeders who use genomic technology give buyers access to AGI-generated GE-EPDs that provide: Increased predictability and decreased risk for young and unproven animals due to enhanced accuracy of EPDs Better characterization of genetics for difficult-to-measure performance traits (such as carcass traits, maternal traits and feed efficiency) The ability to make more rapid progress for traits that are important to you, due to: · more accurate selection · easier identification of genetic outliers · the ability to propagate young animals with confidence earlier in their lives In fact, GE-EPDs on unproven animals have the same amount of accuracy as if they had recorded 10-36 calves, depending on the trait. That’s valuable insight, offered regularly through the breed’s weekly national cattle evaluation.

The heifers reflect our cow herd representing daughters from first calf heifers to running age cows. Our past customers have been very satisfied with the type, kind, and docility of our heifers.
