Welcome to the Koenig Ranch Annual Production Sale!

Thank you for your support and interest in our program of 29 years. We breed and range develop producing 100% IA Registered Red Angus seed stock in a challenging Missouri River Breaks environment birth to finish – not just on the cow. There is a difference. Slow and natural, no excess fat, promotes a strong heart and sound body with character. perpetuates and does not discriminate, so Nature we lost a few “good ones” in the early years. Trusting the process and moving forward resulted in a nucleus herd of foundation hardy bloodlines with proven carcass, calving ease, growth, disposition, fertility, longevity and structure. They calve on their own and produce – no matter the conditions. Our breeding practices focus on bringing out the best and Nature doesn’t waste time concealing the bad. Making what we have work, instead of changing what we have, just like the founding fathers of the Red Angus breed intended. Consistent, reliable Red Angus seed stock.

* Bred 30-40 cows per bull. Sires get evaluated Natural Service for libido and athleticism. AI-ing heifers and a few select cows only.

* All classes calved, weighed and tagged in sagebrush pastures.

* Weaned on pasture. Trained on electric fence. Rationed long-stem hay, cow cake, and natural mineral (Redmond and New Life) for overall health when needed.

* Sale bulls get selected at 10 months (approximately 1/3 of the crop) to naturally mature and prove themselves. Gathered, tested and worked one week before sale day and hauled to Glasgow. Sale heifers from the heart of the herd – right off the pasture.

In Loving Memory Verlin Koenig (10-12-1943 – 11-10-2026)

Our oldest brother,Verlin, served his family beginning at Skaar Route near Sidney, MT. He was in the National Guard, a Vo-Ag teacher, FFA advisor, Jaycee,Valley Co. Ag Agent, 30-yr. 4-H organizer and judge, and a youth leader dedicated to education and his family: wife Diana(60 yrs), son Camron,daughter Nancy,and his grandchildren. We are forever grateful that he shared his knowledge and ideas from a lifetime of MSU ag info. He was a mentor to the rest of us, carrying on Dad’s wisdom:“Don’t throw that away! You never know when you might need it.” He framed and kept his first earned dollar,and was always the j joker. From the pain of his last days, he piped up and defined A.D.D.:“Already Done Dat”.

A brother from our Mother’s brother (cousin), Mike served his family (wife Cindy, daughters Heidi & Megan) and his community: 40 yrs at S.D. cement plant, 37 yrs. volunteer firefighter. He was dedicated,dependable,a selfless giver,and Jack-of-alltrades.We grew up together, rode stick horses for miles at the ranch near Sidney, playing in the hills and at the “off-limits” dam. Full sunburns always got us in trouble. He’d drive 7 hrs. to help us get ready for our sale in the spring and preconditioning in the fall. When “Mikey” showed up, we knew we could get it done – with joy & constant laughter; a joker with plenty of old-fashioned “pull my finger”jokes.

We’re grateful for everything, but most of all – your gift of laughter.
