t is with great pleasure to welcome you to our 35th Annual Performance Bull Sale. My, how time has flown by!! We have survived many different issues in these 35 years, but to have survived 2020 might top them all!
It looks like the cattle market is recovering very well, especially for producers who have invested in the best genetics they can afford. That has always been our motto ever since we started CPAR 44 years ago, and it is still in practice today! This is one of the best set of bulls we have offered to date! Once again we have selected only the best to be offered. There are excellent bulls in each sire group. The bulls were on pasture and cover crop in Grangeville this last summer, then brought to Asotin, WA to finish getting them ready for the sale. Thank you Casey Hagenah for doing a great job getting them ready. The bulls were fed alfalfa hay & illet hay mixed with some barley, oats, & pea screenings mixed in a TMR mixer. This year we are pleased to have our niece, Sydney, join us to offer her bull crop as well. Her program was based on our breeding, so they fit well with our program. They too have been brought to Asotin, Wa., to be fed with our bulls.

We still offer the first breeding season guarantee for all the bulls selling. The bulls have all been tested negative for BVD and will have passed a Breeding Soundness Evaluation as well. The bulls will be delivered starting April 1st. We are still offering $100 off of each bull picked up from the sale. I
want to take this opportunity to thank everyone here at the 35th annual Camas Prairie Angus Ranch Bull sale. I also would like to thank my Uncle Bob and Aunt Ruby for allowing me to sell a number of different Angus bulls in this year’s sale. In 2010 I raised and showed my first registered Angus steer and fell in love with the cattle. I slowly began to build my herd to raise money for college, while also showing in numerous Jr. Angus Shows all over the country. Many of the bulls I raised are sired by a bred and owned show bull: Camas Prairie American Hero. This bull was born and raised in my show barn. He was successful in the show ring, but most importantly, he became a great herd bull for my operation. He’s heavily muscled, balanced, structurally sound, with a great disposition. The bulls sired by him in this sale were his first set of calves on the ground and the great majority are a mirror image. My absolute favorite bull out of my bunch in this sale is SR Heavyweight R62. He is another bred and owned bull that was born and raised in the show barn. I have had great success with this bull in the show ring. He was the Supreme Champion Bull at the 2020 Idaho Beef Expo, and he also placed 3rd in his class at the 2019 National Jr. Angus Show. This bull also has a lot of muscle, is structurally sound, and has a great disposition. He has the potential to be an outstanding breeding bull. The cattle have given me more opportunities I wouldn’t otherwise have and allowed me to attend my dream school, Oklahoma State University. I am majoring in Animal Science with the business option and I plan to continue in the cattle industry my whole life, because that’s what I am passionate about. I am so thankful for all the different opportunities I have had, that would not have been possible without the help of my parents or my aunt and uncle. FIRST YEAR BREEDING FOR FEMALES GUARANTEE All bulls selling for $2500 or more will be covered 50% by the seller if they are injured during their first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bulls. 50% of the value of the injured bull, minus one-half salvage value, will be given as credit in a future sale or toward a replacement bull if one is available. Salvage value, if any, will be split equally between the seller and the buyer. All insured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2021. EXAMPLE: A $4000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $2000 minus one-half any salvage value will be given to the buyer. EXAMPLE: A $2500 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $1250 minus one-half of any salvage value will be given to the buyer. EXAMPLE: An $1800 bull is injured and will not heal. No credit is given. Buyer retains all salvage value.
DELIVERY Camas Prairie Angus Ranch offers free delivery on the first 500 miles. Any additional miles the buyer will pay for at actual cost. We will try our utmost to deliver the bulls to your ranch; however, at times we may have to deliver him to a central point. Central points for delivery will include auction barns, vet clinics and ranches that offer to serve as delivery points. We will be in contact with you to establish delivery arrangements. You must make arrangements for delivery of your bulls BEFORE leaving the sale if you wish to have your bull(s) delivered. FALL BULLS DEVELOPMENT Cows calve out on dryland fall pastures & wheat stubble in Grangeville, ID, and the calves are fed 4 lbs. of oats a day while on their mothers. At turnout time (May 1) they go back to grass with their mothers and weaned July 1st. After weaning they are fed 6-8 lbs. of oats and barley along with homegrown grass/alfalfa hay. This year the bulls were developed on the ranch in Asotin, Wa.

Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. He’s got eye appeal and his cow family and sire lines are record setting powerhouses. We chose him for his combination of calving ease and growth. He has all around good EPDs. Most of the cows we used him on were an outcross pedigree and, in our opinion, he’s one of the best Epic sons. Nine daughters from the first Monumental calf crop sold for an average of $28,000 at the 2018 Big Event at Express. Monumental daughters have dominated 2019 sales setting records and setting a new standard for excellence.

Camas Prairie Hoover Dam was one of 5 full brothers that averaged $7700 in our 2014 Bull Sale. The dam Basin Camilla 4942 was one f our best donor cows ever. We purchased her in the Basin Angus Dispersion in MT. They had flushed her as well. Between CPAR & Basin she had 123 calves in her lifetime so far, and we put in a few more embryos this winter out of her. Amazing how embryo transplant can enhance a cow family like that!
