SERMON OUTLINE SELF-CONTROL THAT RESISTS Genesis 39:1–23

“The Lord was with Joseph…” – Genesis 39:2, 21

When life is not what you chose. Genesis 39:1–6 Faithfulness begins with what is in front of me.

When you could take what you want. Genesis 39:7–12 “How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?”

When doing right costs you. Genesis 39:13–20 Obedience does not guarantee an easy outcome.

When you find yourself in another pit. Genesis 39:20–23 “…because the Lord was with Joseph…” “Self-control is not control by oneself through one’s own willpower but rather control of oneself through the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Jerry Bridges, Respectable Sins
