ELDER NOMINEES
Kate Alexander
Kate is a lifelong member of Peachtree, having grown up in children’s and student ministries and attending Camp Rutledge. During college, she also worked in student ministries for two summers. This will be her second time serving on Session. She graduated from Furman University and went on to earn a Master of Physical Therapy, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and a Master of Science in Health Administration. Professionally, Kate spent 16 years as a practicing physical therapist, 13 of those years at Wellstar Cobb Hospital, specializing in acute care rehabilitation. She transitioned 3 years ago to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she now works in hospital operations as a Lean Facilitator for performance excellence and process improvement initiatives. Over the years at Peachtree, she has been involved in young adult ministries, Habitat for Humanity, Fuller Spiritual Formation, and various other service activities, classes, and retreats. For fun, she loves to run and has completed 13 half marathons and a full marathon.
Gene Barnes
Gene Barnes grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and moved to Atlanta after meeting her husband, Allen. She and Allen have three sons and three grandchildren and have been members of Peachtree for over 30 years. Gene co-founded the Christ Connection Belong Community, serves as a Room Friend at Lake Forrest School, and facilitates and hosts a Belong Group that meets monthly. She also volunteers for CAC (Community Assistance Center), Wellspring Living, and 100 Shares. Last year, Gene participated in the Fuller Formation Group, hosted by Peachtree, and has been an active member of the Friends in Faith Bible study for over 25 years. She has taught bridge classes for 10+ years and enjoys tennis, pickleball, mahjong, and spending time with her family.
Jeff Baxter
Jeffrey and his wife, Gaylen, have been members of Peachtree for over 40 years. They have three daughters, Charlotte (Maines), Allie, and Jordan (Pompili), and four grandchildren. Jeffrey has previously served two terms as an Elder, as co-president of the Credence Belong Community, and is a co-table leader for Ironmen. He and Gaylen are members of the Harvest class and are actively involved in their Belong Group. They are busily engaged in their Ansley Park community, and delight in traveling, often to the West Coast to visit their grandsons. An attorney specializing in healthcare law, Jeffrey retired in 2023 from his position as Chief Counsel for Health Affairs at Emory University/Emory Healthcare. He enjoys mentoring younger lawyers and is active in alumni affairs at his alma mater, Dartmouth College.

Ed Easterlin
Ed is an Atlanta native and grew up in what is now the City of Brookhaven. He earned a BS at The University of Georgia and has been a tenant representative in commercial real estate for 45 years, currently as a Senior VP at Cresa. Ed currently serves on the Boards of BCM (Buckhead Christian Ministries) and La Amistad. He is married to Nan Storey Easterlin, and they have been members of Peachtree Church since their engagement in 1985. They have three grown children: Mallie, Clara, and Ward, who all grew up in Peachtree Church. Ed has traveled with Peachtree to Ecuador, Guatemala, the Holy Land, and Egypt. He has served on the Session twice, the Elder Nominating Committee, and the Building Committee, and is a regular at IRONMEN Men’s Bible Study.
Mark Hanna
Mark and his wife, Stacie, are originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, and met while attending UNC-Chapel Hill. They have been married for 27 years and have been members of Peachtree since 2005. They are the proud parents of Adelaide (19) and Wes (16). Mark is an active member of a Belong Group and has served as both a confirmation leader and a greeter. He completed the Christ Led Communities (CLC) program and now participates in a weekly men’s Bible study with fellow alumni. Mark earned his M.D. from Columbia University in 1999. Following residency training in Atlanta and fellowship training in Boston, he joined Resurgens Orthopaedics, where he specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. Each summer, he leads a medical mission team to Central America, where he performs joint replacement surgeries. Physical activity and personal challenges are important parts of Mark’s life. He enjoys section hiking the Appalachian Trail each year and recently earned his black belt in taekwondo. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, waterskiing, and traveling.
Jim Hinsdale
Jim grew up in Arizona, lived in Kansas City and Charlotte before coming to Atlanta in 2015. He is the proud parent of two married daughters, one who lives in Raleigh and another in Saint Simons. A lifelong Presbyterian, Jim has a heart for missions, serving on trips to Havana, Remedios, and Matazanas, Cuba, and while living in Charlotte, he helped build with Habitat for Humanity. Since moving to Atlanta in 2019, Jim has been active with Ironmen, Ken Boa’s Wednesday Bible Study, and KidsAlive. In his spare time, he enjoys upland bird hunting and being outdoors.
ELDER NOMINEES
Ann Hart Hunter
Ann Hart Hunter (née Wotton) was born and raised in Atlanta. She joined Peachtree Church with her mother, father, and brother in the early 1980s. Since graduating from Vanderbilt University, she has lived and raised her family in Atlanta. She has been married to Steve for 27 years and has 3 children, Jack (24), Sydney (24), and Lizzie (20), all of whom were very active in the youth ministry program at Peachtree. She has volunteered with VBS and Children’s ministry, trained as a Stephen Minister, and was an active member of the Breadbreakers and the Builders Belong Communities. She currently facilitates a group of wonderful women at Women’s Community Bible Study. In her free time, she loves gardening, playing tennis, and reading.
Doug Justice
Doug Justice and his wife, Mary, have been members of Peachtree since 1986. A returning elder, Doug currently serves on the Finance Committee and as a trustee for the Peachtree Trust. While Doug is a regular at Ironmen, both he and Mary are active members of the Credence Belong Community. They are proud supporters of the Wonderfully Made ministry and the Georgia Special Olympics. Doug is a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch, where he has served for over 46 years. When not traveling, Doug and Mary most cherish their time spent with their three grandchildren.
David Lassing
David grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and moved to Atlanta after earning his MBA from Vanderbilt. He and his wife, Rosana, were married at Peachtree in 1995. Their daughter, Anabela, is soon to graduate from Georgia State. David’s involvement at Peachtree includes teaching Anabela’s Sunday School classes, assisting with the Baptism Workshop for parents, and serving as Co-President of the Lifemates Belong Community. He is a member of Ironmen and the Last Thursdays Belong Group, and participated in Spiritual Formation (2022 cohort) and Habitat for Humanity. David retired as Treasurer & VP of Finance from Purchasing Power in 2022. Prior to Purchasing Power, he held finance positions at Cox Enterprises, BellSouth, and KPMG. Much of his retirement has involved hiking, including a recent 10-day Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal with his wife.

Gayle Nix
Gayle will celebrate her 50th year of membership at Peachtree next year! During this time, she has had the privilege of participating in the life of the church in a variety of ways: Vacation Bible School coordinator, Women’s Community Bible Study facilitator, Sunday School teacher, MomCo, and Choir member. Currently, she is part of the Stephen Ministry, the Wonderfully Made crew, Presbyterian Women, the Wedding Guild, Heritage Class, and the Women’s Ministry Bible Study. This will be her second term on Session. Outside of the church, she serves on her HOA Board as secretary. Previously a paralegal at Alston & Bird and, more recently, a teacher at The Schenck School, she has retired to enjoy time with her two sons and their families, including 6 grandchildren, 2 in Atlanta and 4 in California. She was widowed in 2020 after 45 years of marriage to her husband, Frank.
Susanne O’Neal
Susanne O’Neal has been married to her husband, Bert, for 19 years, and together they have built a wonderful life centered on faith and family. They are the proud parents of three children— Addie Gray (15), Louise (14), and Bo (12)—who all attend Whitefield Academy. A member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for the past 14 years, Susanne has been deeply involved in the life of the church through a variety of leadership roles. She has faithfully served on the VBS Planning Team, with MomCo, the Explorers Belong Community, Peachtree Women’s Bible Study, Peachtree Missions Committee, and WCBS, investing her time and heart into ministries that encourage spiritual growth and meaningful community. Susanne will be returning for her second term on Session, continuing her commitment to serve the church and its members with dedication and care. Beyond the church, she remains active in the broader community, serving on the boards of the Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool, the Whitefield Parent Association, and the Atlanta Azaleas chapter of National Charity League.
Ginger Scott
Ginger is originally from Dunn, North Carolina, and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1993. After college, she moved to Atlanta, where she spent over a decade working at Turner Broadcasting and CNN. Later in life, she launched a staging company, which led to an exciting career in residential real estate. She married the love of her life, Hugh, at Peachtree Church in 1998. They are the proud parents of two sons: Hampton, a recent graduate of TCU, and Rhodes, who just graduated from Auburn University. Ginger has been a member of Peachtree Church for 30 years and considers it central to her life and faith. Since retiring from real estate, she has devoted her time to serving the church through the Women’s ministry leadership team, Thursday morning Bible Study, Presbyterian Women (PW), MomCo, and the Peachtree’s Pastoral Care Team. She considers Peachtree Church her “happy place”.
