I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. SERMON OUTLINE
JOY THAT FINISHES
John 16:16–24
The Unique Resources of Christian Joy
1. The Resource of Honest Faith
They kept asking, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We don’t understand what he is saying.”
– John 16:18
Christian joy begins where pretense ends.
2. The Resource of Redemptive Suffering
“You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.”
– John 16:20b
Christian joy does not deny pain. It trusts that God can transform it.
3. The Resource of Unstealable Grace
“…no one will take away your joy.” – John 16:22
Christian joy is protected because it is given, not manufactured.
4. The Resource of a Finished Future
“Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
– John 16:24b
Christian joy lives in confidence that God will finish the story.
“…I will see you again and you will rejoice…”
– John 16:22
