Peachland voters choose Ali Bani-Sadr in by-election

n the end, it wasn’t close. Ali Bani-Sadr won last Saturday’s District of Peachland by-election to fill the seat made vacant by the passing of Keith Thom in November. The Peachland businessman received 355 votes, more than double George McFarlane’s 174. Eric Hall got 164 votes, Nick Walsh 118 and Chris Richardson 54. It’s Bani-Sadr’s first foray into politics. came, I just saw it as another way to give back and to help contribute to the future of this town. It seemed to be the right thing to do and the right time for me,” he said. Bani-Sadr moved to Peachland three years ago after almost 40 years working in the auto industry in North and West Vancouver, including owning a car dealership for 19 years. His mother is French, his father Iranian. He was born and
raised in Paris and lived briefly in Iran before the 1979 revolution led him to North America. He completed automotive studies in Detroit before settling in the Lower Mainland. After many vacations in the Okanagan and after “life circumstances changed”, he and his partner came to Peachland, where he launched Simplified Tech, an IT service business. SEE BY-ELECTION PAGE 7
