Welcome! Welcome to the latest edition of your local newsletter. In this edition you’ll hear about the 2026 Parkside Big Event, education and training opportunities in the area, as well as more about local classes and services.
A note from your Neighbourhood Managers As autumn approaches, this issue is packed with opportunities to get involved, learn something new and make the most of everything happening across Parkside. You'll find highlights from another fantastic Big Event, details of free training and digital skills programmes, and plenty of ways to have your say through local community groups. We’re also sharing an update on improvements made through our Finishing Fridays programme, following feedback from residents. Whether you're looking to connect with neighbours, develop new skills or stay informed about your community, we hope there's something here for everyone. Our door is always open for residents who need to speak with us about anything to do with their home of the local community. How to contact your Managers You can book an appointment to speak with Vanessa or Johann either in person or online. You can book either a 15 or 30 minute meeting by visiting their booking pages below. Appointments are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Both of us are at Parkside every Friday between 10am and 4pm and all residents are welcome to drop in and chat to us about anything that’s on your mind. The Big Event gets bigger and better! Residents from across Parkside came together at Copperwood Place on Saturday 25 July for a day filled with food, fun and community spirit at our annual Big Event. With something for everyone to enjoy, the day was a wonderful celebration of the vibrant and welcoming community we have here at Parkside. Guests enjoyed a delicious selection of food provided by local café and community champions, Pristine Eats, while taking part in a variety of activities throughout the day. From crafting and dancing to music, games and even activities involving our four-legged friends, there was plenty on offer for residents of all ages and interests. The event provided a great opportunity for neighbours to connect, make new memories and spend time together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Community Investment Manager Annmarie said: “Now in its third year, the Big Event continues to showcase what makes Parkside such a special place to live. The enthusiasm, support and sense of community shown by residents helped make the day another great success. “A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to all those who helped organise and support the event behind the scenes. We’re especially grateful to our active resident group in the Parkside Resident Collective and the many residents who continue to support community events throughout the year.” See you next year!

Why not drop into the People Powered Parkside sessions at Parkside Community Centre, 1 Copperwood Place, every Tuesday from 10am to 2pm. Whether you'd like to discover exciting local projects, share an idea for something new, or join a resident group, there's a place for you.
Looking to build your digital confidence and unlock new opportunities? DCS Empowerment CIC is delivering two fully funded Parkside Digital Empowerment Programmes for Peabody residents, starting this September at Parkside Community Centre. Whether you're aged 18 to 29 and want to strengthen your workplace digital skills and improve your career prospects, or aged 30 to 49 and looking to feel more confident using technology in everyday life and work, there's a programme for you. Participants will learn how to make AI work for them, stand out in today's digital job market, use digital tools with greater confidence, and stay safe online. Check your heating Before the cold weather arrives, take a few minutes to check that your boiler and heating are working properly. Simply turn on your heating and hot water and make sure everything fires up as expected. Testing your system early can help identify any issues before temperatures drop and demand for repairs increases. If there is a problem, you'll have more time to arrange a repair and avoid long waits during the busiest time of year. A quick check now could make all the difference later. No one wants to start winter in a cold home without heating or hot water. By acting now, you can stay one step ahead and make sure your home is warm, comfortable and ready for the colder months.
You said, we acted Many residents have raised concerns about carpet stains in communal areas, particularly those believed to have been caused by leaking bin bags on their way to the lifts. We listened, and we're taking action. As part of our Finishing Fridays initiative, our caretaking team has been carrying out targeted deep cleans across Parkside, focusing on areas where staining has been reported and has the greatest impact on residents. Using specialist cleaning methods, the team has successfully removed a number of stubborn stains and restored affected carpets. Our team is committed to delivering a clean, safe and welcoming environment for everyone who lives at Parkside. While it is not possible to clean every carpet immediately, Estate Services Area Manager Mitchell and his team are working their way around the estate and prioritising locations where attention is needed most. Finishing Fridays are a valuable opportunity for the team to complete
visible improvement works that make a real difference to residents' day-to-day experience. These activities depend on team availability, as our priority is to make sure essential services continue to be delivered across the estate. Thank you for continuing to report issues to us.
