Welcome! Welcome to the latest edition of your local newsletter. There’s a lot happening in the neighbourhood, and we’re excited to bring you all the news from across the development.

Meet your Building Safety Manager If you've spotted Matthew Allen around New Mansion Square, carefully checking fire doors, signage and communal areas, you may have wondered what a Building Safety Manager actually does. In simple terms, Matthew's role is all about helping to keep residents safe. He oversees New Mansion Square and a number of other sites across South London, ensuring buildings meet strict safety regulations. His work includes carrying out regular inspections, reviewing fire safety systems and preparing reports for the Building Safety Regulator. While much of the work happens behind the scenes, Matthew says residents are central to building safety. "Residents know their buildings better than anyone," he explains. "They're there every day, so they often spot things we might not see." Whether it's reporting a damaged fire door, highlighting an obstruction in an escape route, or raising a concern about safety procedures, resident feedback helps Matthew and the wider team make informed decisions.

.

Matthew also encourages residents to get involved and ask questions. He is happy to arrange walkabouts so residents can see first-hand what the team looks for and discuss any concerns directly. As Matthew puts it, building safety is everyone's responsibility. By working together, residents and safety teams can help keep New Mansion Square safe for all.

You told us, we acted When consulting residents about proposed CCTV improvements, we heard that people wanted clearer information about the project, including the costs involved, and a simpler way to take part in the consultation and voting process. In response, we updated our approach to make information more accessible. Consultation materials were digitised and made available online, with QR codes and direct links included to help residents quickly access the information they needed and submit their views at a time that suited them. We also made sure that paper copies were available at the concierge office, allowing people who preferred not to use technology to take part. We also followed up on reports from residents who had not received the consultation information, helping to ensure everyone had the opportunity to stay informed and participate. By offering a mix of digital and traditional communication methods, we aimed to reach as many residents as possible and make the consultation process more inclusive. These changes have made it easier for residents to have their say and be involved in decisions that affect their community, while giving us valuable feedback to help shape future improvements. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views on this proposal. There will be a third and final consultation in October to provide a further opportunity for residents to have their say and help shape the final decision. This will ensure that all views are considered before a final decision is made.

Landscaping update We are pleased to share positive progress on the landscaping and community safety improvements. Wandsworth Council’s Planning Team has reviewed both the landscaping proposals and the measures designed to help reduce anti-social behaviour and has indicated its support for the plans. To ensure residents’ views were considered, colleagues from Operations and Development met virtually with Resident Association leads on 27 August to present and discuss the proposals in detail. Following this session, resident representatives confirmed they were satisfied with the approach being taken. As an immediate improvement, the temporary repositioning of the existing planters has now been completed. The landscaping scheme has been fully designed and finalised, with no further changes proposed. Subject to the next stages of the process, we are aiming to submit the plans for planning approval in late September.

Check your heating Before the cold weather arrives, take a few minutes to check that your boiler and heating are working properly. Simply turn on your heating and hot water and make sure everything fires up as expected. Testing your system early can help identify any issues before temperatures drop and demand for repairs increases. If there is a problem, you'll have more time to arrange a repair and avoid long waits during the busiest time of year. A quick check now could make all the difference later. No one wants to start winter in a cold home without heating or hot water. By acting now, you can stay one step ahead and make sure your home is warm, comfortable and ready for the colder months.
