A note from your Neighbourhood Manager As autumn approaches and the leaves begin to transform the landscape around us, I find myself looking forward to everything this season brings. The changing colours across the estate are a wonderful reminder of how our neighbourhood continues to grow and evolve. Phase 3 of the estate is close to being completed, and we’re expecting this to finish in October, so it’s an exciting time to be here. Since becoming your Local Neighbourhood Manager, I have felt incredibly welcomed by residents and colleagues alike. One of the most rewarding parts of my role has been getting to know the people who make Burridge Gardens such a vibrant and friendly community. Every conversation and introduction has helped me better understand what matters most to our residents. I look forward to meeting even more of you in the coming months and continuing to support a neighbourhood where everyone feels valued, connected and proud to live.

Danvers Avenue reopens As the regeneration is completing at Burridge Gardens, for the first time residents can enjoy walking through the full length of Danvers Avenue with the route now open between Clapham Junction Station and Wandsworth Common. As part of the improvements, new planters have been installed along the avenue, helping to create a greener and more welcoming space. They are complemented by a striking new brick sculpture design inspired by fruit and vegetables, adding character and interest to the area. The artwork has been created by the same artist behind the distinctive brick sculptures featured on the walls at Burridge Gardens, bringing a familiar and much-loved creative touch to this latest enhancement.

Looking after our lifts It has been brought to Malachi’s attention that some lift outages may be linked to deliberate damage by residents. We ask all residents to help look after our communal facilities. Damage to shared spaces can lead to unnecessary disruption and affect neighbours who rely on these services every day.

Back your future with free employment support

Celebrating completion! This October, we’ll be celebrating the completion of the third and final phase of the St John’s Hill regeneration, marking a major milestone for the neighbourhood.

The first two phases were completed by 2023, and the final phase, One Clapham, has delivered a further 307 homes. Its completion brings the regeneration of the St John’s Hill Estate to a close. Across all three phases, the work has created hundreds of new homes, including much-needed affordable and social rent home as well as a new community centre, extra-care housing, a welcoming public square and new commercial spaces. We’re delighted to reach this point in modernising the estate while preserving the neighbourhood feel and strong community spirit that make Burridge Gardens such a special place to live.

You said, we acted Following requests from residents, we are reviewing the timing of our monthly Wellbeing Hub to make it more accessible for more people in the community. Residents told us that the previous daytime sessions could be difficult to attend, particularly for those who work during the day or parents with school-aged children. In response, we’ve trialled running the Wellbeing Hub from 3pm to 6pm. We’re looking at whether this later timeslot will give more residents the chance to visit, access support services, and seek advice on a range of wellbeing and housing issues. This review is a great example of how resident feedback helps shape our services. By listening to what matters most to residents and responding where we can, we are working together to build a stronger, more connected community.

Check your heating

Visit the Wellbeing Hub Residents at Burridge Gardens are invited to come along to the monthly Advice and Wellbeing Hub that takes place from 12pm-3pm every first Wednesday of every month,

Before the cold weather arrives, take a few minutes to check that your boiler and heating are working properly. Simply turn on your heating and hot water and make sure everything fires up as expected. Testing your system early can help identify any issues before temperatures drop and demand for repairs increases. If there is a problem, you'll have more time to arrange a repair and avoid long waits during the busiest time of year. A quick check now could make all the difference later. No one wants to start winter in a cold home without heating or hot water. By acting now, you can stay one step ahead and make sure your home is warm, comfortable and ready for the colder months.

Held at Burridge Gardens Community Centre, these drop-in sessions give residents the chance to access free, confidential and practical advice around mental, emotional and physical wellbeing from our advice and wellbeing team and specialist local partners. The next Wellbeing sessions will be: Wednesday 7 October Wednesday 4 November Wednesday 2 December Find out more about Wellbeing services
