A note from your Neighbourhood Manager
Hi!
I’m Malachi McWhinney, the new Neighbourhood Manager for Burridge Gardens.
In the few weeks that I’ve been here, I’ve already been out and about speaking with residents about their homes
I’m here to help you with all of your housing needs and questions. The fastest and easiest way to report your repairs needs is by using our My Peabody portal, or by calling our contact centre on 0300 123 3456.
If you’d like to talk about other issues to do with your tenancy, you can make an appointment with me to speak privately. The details are on the right. I may not be able to help immediately, but I will listen, and I will do my best to help you get whatever help or support you may need in your home.
I look forward to seeing you all on my regular visits to Peabody homes in the area.

All the fun of the Fayre!
Residents at Burridge Gardens came together on Friday 29 May for a lively community event designed especially with younger residents in mind. With sunshine on our side, the afternoon was filled with music, games, and plenty of smiles. From music to captivating balloon art, everyone enjoyed a fun and welcoming atmosphere for families across the neighbourhood.
The event, organised by Peabody and Mount Anvil, offered a great opportunity for residents to connect, relax, and make the most of the beautiful weather.
More than just an afternoon of activities, the event was a celebration of the strong community spirit that makes Burridge Gardens such a special place to live. It was fantastic to see so many neighbours coming together, catching up, and enjoying time outdoors.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success.
Residents enjoy a day of nature at Kew Wakehurst
Burridge Gardens residents recently enjoyed a fantastic day out at Kew Wakehurst, taking full advantage of the warm weather and beautiful surroundings.
Located near Ardingly in West Sussex, the site combines a historic 16th-century mansion with extensive botanic gardens. Residents explored a variety of landscapes, including colourful walled gardens, peaceful woodland, and scenic water features, all set across a wide and beautifully maintained estate.
The visit offered a great opportunity not only to experience nature but also to spend time together, with residents enjoying a relaxed and sociable day in a unique setting. Thank you to everyone who joined we look forward to organising more trips like this in the future.

Apply for funding through the Kerslake Awards
Do you run a community project or group that supports or benefits Peabody residents at Whitecross? If so, you could apply for a Kerslake Award to help fund your next project.
The Kerslake Awards were launched in 2024 in memory of Peabody’s late Chair Lord Bob Kerslake, whose career in public service focused on improving people’s lives. Each year, £40,000 is available to support local projects across London and the south east, split across two rounds of funding - one in spring and one in autumn. At least 10 projects are funded in each round.
From gardeners to exercise workshops, and exercise clubs to one-off community events, these local projects have been awarded up to £2,000 each and each will make a real difference in local communities.

You said, we did
Residents at Sawyers Apartments told us that the communal entrance door was difficult to manage, and was often broken.
Following this feedback, we’re replacing the door to better support those with mobility needs and increase security in the block.
The new, upgraded door will be custom-made with bespoke fittings, and we expect delivery to take around 12 weeks. This is a significant improvement rather than a like-forlike replacement, with an investment of £25,000 from Peabody, at no cost to residents.
We’re working closely with the local authority to ensure the solution meets all requirements, and we’ll keep you updated as the work progresses.
Staying
safe this summer
As the weather gets nicer, it’s important that we all follow some important safety guidance to keep everyone safe:
Do:
Keep all outdoor areas free of belongings. This includes bikes, toys, pushchairs, and furniture.
Charge your e‐bike or e‐scooter indoors where you can keep an eye on it.
Use the original charger that meets safety standards. Test your smoke alarm regularly.
Don’t:
Leave belongings outside your home. Items left in hallways and entrance areas can be removed without warning as they block emergency exits.
Have barbeques on your balcony or communal areas
Leave your e‐bike or e‐scooter charging overnight or while you’re out.

Enjoying
our
shared spaces
As more of us spend time outside enjoying the warmer weather, our shared spaces are busier than ever, and it’s great to see them being used.
To help keep these areas pleasant for everyone, please remember to take any rubbish home with you or dispose of it properly. A quick tidy before you leave helps keep the space clean and welcoming.
If you’re out with your dog, please make sure you clean up after them every time. It helps keep the area safe and enjoyable for all residents.
Our outdoor spaces are for everyone to enjoy. With a little consideration from us all, we can keep them looking their best.
