PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Welcome to our 19th. annual Southwest Bull Developement Centre sale. Commercial cattlemen across the country sold calves at record prices last Fall and continue to be optimistic for the long term future of the beef industry. Consignors have put together a strong group of Hereford and Red & Black Angus bulls. Notice the variety in pedigree and the number of bulls with breed-leading A.I. sires. The growth bulls will compete with any breed for performance, plus you'll find as many low birthweight heifer bulls in this sale as in any sale in the country. The Batho/Rimke family fed and cared for the bulls like they were their own. The ration, 50% grass/alfalfa hay, 47.5% oats, 2.5 % Supplement, is a self-fed and is designed for a gain of no less than 3lbs./day. The Southwest Test offers Total Performance with E.P.D.'s and Carcass data compared to contemporaries. All sale bulls have passed a Total Semen Evaluation plus tested negative for Type 1 & 2 BVD. Schedule of Events Bull Location: Batho Farms Ltd is located 3 3/4 miles south of Oak Lake on Lansdowne Road. Sale Location: Oak Lake Community Hall is located at 474 North Railway St W Sale Morning: Bulls are available for viewing at Batho Farms Ltd. Lunch: Complementary Beef on a Bun available at Oak Lake Community Hall from Noon to 1 pm(DST). Pies for sale by Manitoba Junior Hereford Association. Sale: Video sale (Bull Sale) held at Oak Lake Community Hall at 1 pm. Load out: Bulls will be available to load out after completion of sale, make arrangements with Sales Clerk.
Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at Oak Lake Community Hall unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made with clerk of sale before any cattle will be released. Purchaser's Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Insurance: will be available on sale day from Keystone Livestock Services. Bids: All animals sell to the highest bidder.
Announcements: Any errors or changes in information contained in the catalogue will be announced from the auction block and such announcements take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Breeder's Guarantee: Each bull becomes the purchaser's risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Hereford Association and Canadian Angus Assocation with regard to health, freedom from defects, and reproductive and genetic soundness. Liabilities: Southwest Development Centre and its members, Batho Farms Ltd, Sales staff accept no liability for accidents that may occur. Mishaps at cattle sales are rare, but all attending must do so at their own risk. Delivery: Delivery is $50.00 per buyer. Maximum of $100 per buyer to a maximum of 200 km. Remainder at cost to buyer. Delivery within one week after the sale at seller's convenience. After Sale Management: All the Southwest bulls will remain at Batho Farms Ltd at Oak Lake and will be maintained on the same ration as they have been on so they will continue to grow and develop. Cost of this is $3.00 per head per day. The bulls staying at Batho Farms on this program must be insured. Batho Farms Ltd or SWBDC are not responsible for any loss or injury. Semen Test & Ultra Sound: All bulls will be semen evaluated and have passed semen evaluation. All bulls will have been Ultra Sounded. Semen and Ultra Sound Information will be on an added sheet on sale day or can be requested earlier.
Additional Information Ration: The South West Bulls have been fed a complete ration that has been prepared and processed at Batho Farms Ltd. It consists of the following ingredients: Roughage (grass/alfalfa hay) 50% Oats 47.5% Supplements 2.5% The ingredients in the TMR ration are all added by weight and this ration is self fed to the bulls. The ration is designed for the bulls to gain 3 lbs/head/day. Health: All South West bulls have tested Negative for BVD type 1 & 2.
