This year the Manitoba Charolais Association is hosting the sale in conjunction with the National Charolais Show at the Manitoba Livestock Expo in Brandon, MB. From seeing some of the cattle on offer, it is a sale you won’t want to miss. To add some excitement to the sale, we are having a draw for sales credits to be used at the sale. 100 tickets will be sold at $100 per ticket. We will have 2 grand prize draws: 1st prize = $6500 sales credit and 2nd prize = $3500 sales credit. To secure a ticket, contact any of the consignors in the sale. The CCYA will also be holding a semen auction at the end of the sale, so come out and support our youth. The MCA board has a renewed enthusiasm and we are putting Manitoba back on the map by hosting several Charolais events throughout the year. There is a great group of young enthusiastic breeders in this province and when they were given the opportunity to host the National show they wanted to have a sale and create even more excitement. As you can see from the offering, this is a National event with consignors from the four western provinces. The breeders dug deep with some very exceptional picks of herds and top end bred heifers and heifer calves right from the show strings. These are front line genetics and not only will they show, but will also become foundation females in many programs. It has been 40 years since we have seen this kind of wide spread excitement in the cattle industry. The livestock markets at every level are in new ranges with all the pundits saying this will be long term. Come join us for a fun couple of days and be part of the excitement. PICK OF THE HERD Springside Farms
2014 marks the 30th year for Springside Farms in the Charolais business. With our roots being deeply embedded in Manitoba, it only seems fitting, and we are very proud to offer “pick of the herd” in this National Sale event! By attending shows, production sales and dispersals, and mating these cows to AI sires and herdbulls we knew would work, we have assembled a cowherd that is functional and fertile. Cost was never a driving factor. When we found a cow we liked, or a herdbull we needed to buy, we usually bought it! The cowherd today consists of 160 productive and trouble free females. It features daughters of Sparrows Sanchez, HTA Crown Prince, SOS Hemi, HFCC Pld Bond, SVY Pilgrim and the 2009 Reserve National Champion for us, SDC Timeout 88T. Over half of the herd was mated to AI sires such as Gerrard Pastor, Geddes, LT Ledger and Merit Roundup to compliment our herdbulls, CSS Navigator 20Y, HTA Tuff Enuff 947W and Winn Mans Chavez 826Y. From this herd have come many national class winners as well as breed legends such as SOS Detonator 8M. Even this past spring the #3 and #9 high selling bulls in Canada were out of SOS females. We can’t thank Dave and Tracee of VFF enough for elevating this cowherd to this level! Plan to spend the day or even a week, if time permits, to make your selection. As much as it is a cattle business, it’s a people business and these friendships are as valuable to us as the cattle. Selection to be made by December 31, 2014, and we retain the right to one successful flush or two shared flushes at the new owner’s convenience. This lot does not include any partnership cattle. It is with great pride and honour that we, at Footprint Farms, present the pick of our 2014 heifer calves. We run two totally separate calving purebred herds. One which calves in January-February, and one that calves in April-May. There will be approximately 50 heifers from which to select. Only the top cut from each program are retained to reinforce the backbone of our herd. Among the group are both white and red factor heifers along with a sprinkle of French influence in some of the pedigrees. The Sires represented are:

Here's a heifer calf we are very proud of. She is a moderate, thick, hairy, typical Copenhagen daughter. When we purchased Copenhagen, we didn't plan on using a horned bull so heavily. However, when it came to breeding season, I just kept on using him and am I ever glad I did. His calves are stamped with a correct structure and red meat. Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk and expense.

Breeder Guarantee – Females: As per the Canadian Charolais Association Code of Ethics. Copies are available at the settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. Exception Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations. Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day. Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.
