Welcome to our First Annual Sale H
unter Charolais is a family business and we have been breeding Charolais for over the past 30 years. We are located on the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border just west of Roblin. As a family we believe strongly in the Charolais breed and as such have participated and supported the Canadian and Manitoba Charolais Associations and the Junior Charolais Associations. We have always encouraged our kids to become active participants in the daily decisions and operation of our business and they have become a big part of the success of our farm. Over the years we have strived to produce sound functional females through extensive AI’ing and using the best genetics available. We don’t tolerate bad udders, poor structure or those cows that make calving just a little more “fun”. We are very proud of our cow herd—and hope that you will come to see the females that are raising the bulls in the sale. The bulls on offer are big, hairy, rugged bulls. We are extremely pleased with the bulls on offer. As you can see from the pictures in the catalogue, the bulls have length, depth, lots of muscle and HAIR. We gear our breeding program with the commercial producer in mind. We understand that you need performance without giving up calving ease (Marianne especially knows that). We know that we have a bull to fit your program. We stand behind our bulls a 100% and IF there is a problem, please let us know so we can solve it to your satisfaction. We know that your cows need to be bred in a timely fashion and we will strive to make that happen. We would like to say Thank-you to all our past buyers — your confidence in our program has been very rewarding. The sale will be a power point display — it is less stressful for both the bulls and the people. Come early to view the bulls, they will be penned outside the sale barn. The bulls can be viewed at the yard any time prior to sale day. Coffee is always on and visitors are more than welcome. Come join us for lunch sale day and take a look at what we have to offer.

W
elcome to the first Hunter Charolais Bull Sale and you will be impressed. The Hunters are great people who we have known for decades. We have watched the kids grow up in the Canadian Charolais Youth Association which Michael is currently president of this great organization. Doug and Marianne have been tireless volunteers in 4-H, to the CCYA conferences in Manitoba and Doug was Secretary of the Manitoba Charolais Association for years. The whole family is interested in the operation and although the kids are sometimes away from home for work or school they are still very much involved whenever possible. They have been building a great cowherd using the best bulls they could find and are producing a product that will work at all levels of the industry. They are a source for convenient performance with bulls that are sound, will get the job done and then will calve well and still give you a big pay weight calf in the fall. Come early and view the bulls as this is a power point sale and the bulls will not be coming through the ring but will be on display just outside the heated Quonset. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be more than happy to help you find a bull that is right for your program. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By By Livestock 306.584.7937 306.536.4261 cell Cameron Isaac—Doug’s right hand man. This is his second winter working for us part time; we can’t express our gratitude enough for all the help he does around the cattle from feeding and calving to helping with the bulls.

HERDBULL ALERT! Yardstick is a definite sale feature, he has been a favourite with everyone who has seen him from a calf until now. He is a complete package having an awesome top, depth, thickness and is structurally correct with a thick curly hair coat. This is the first calf to sell sired by the homozygous polled Silver Bullet and they are impressive. Silver Bullet came to light as the high selling bull in the 2010 North of the 49th Bull Sale. He proved to be a very easy calving bull and was used on many first calf heifers last spring. He is more than a calving ease bull with lots of performance and thickness in the calves. They are good footed cattle carrying on the tradition of the Silverado bloodline.

Junction just continues to get it done both here and abroad. He ranks in the top 10% or higher for WW and YW and in the top 25% for milk. In Australia he ranks in the top 10% of the breed for BW, 400 DW and 600 DW. He has been used very successfully on first calf heifers who then have calves that perform. His sons still sell very well and you will want a collection of his daughters in your program..

What a great way to highlight our first sale with a top Junction son, and do we ever have one! He has an awesome butt on him with lots of length of body, tons of depth and is extremely thick. Just off a top producing two year old 17P daughter, he has all the right tools to be “Yourman”. Retaining ¼ semen interest.

Here is another top Junction out of a two year old Sanchez daughter. This is an example of why we continue to use Junction on our heifer pen. Look at the length of spine, excellent depth, with a great hair coat. Find Youngman on sale day, he’ll make your day.

Kaboom has been used as a heifer bull for the past few years with great success. The calves are born small and are very correct and complete. His sons have been well accepted showing good tops and volume and his first daughters in production this spring have very tidy udders with small teats..

If you are looking for a bull with an awesome butt, tons of capacity, volume and an excellent topline, Yearbook is definitely the bull to take a look at. A cowboy kind of bull, he has all the right tools to make those high demand tan calves. Out of a top Vendetta cow in the herd that is a family favourite.

He was a March bull that we selected from our own bull pen in the spring of 2009 to breed our heifers following our A.I. program and Jimmy’s commercial cows. Looking back that was a great decision, all of his calves were born unassisted and were very vigorous at birth. He is a maternal brother to HC Yoda 105Y (Lot 2), his sons display excellent body type with correct confirmation and read to be very promising heifer bulls. CE 88 BW -1 WW 33 YW 80 M 20.8 TM 37

Heifer bull alert! Being 82 lbs at birth Yaroslav is definitely worth taking a look at. He is long with lots of natural muscling and an excellent foot underneath.

Yardmaster is the youngest bull in the pen but is every bit as good as any other bull in the sale. He has a great topline and is very structurally sound. His mother is a Grid Maker daughter that we bought from Forsyth Bros. and she is doing an excellent job for us. If you buy Yardmaster, he will be the master of your yard for this spring.
