Welcome to our 3rd Annual Bull Sale G
reetings and Welcome! As you have all noticed, another year has flown by. As we prepare for our 3rd Annual Bull Sale, we would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the bull buyers over the years that have entrusted our bulls to your herds and brought us to this point in our purebred business. We believe that your choice in selecting Charolais bulls shows a strong sense of what will make a profitable difference for you at the fall calf sales. Your foresight in choosing the Charolais breed is having a defining impact on the cattle industry. As we invite you to our 3rd Annual Bull Sale we want you to notice in the catalogue that we have added new genetics to our breeding program. We are pleased to present this offering to you on sale day. Our Wahkamo calves have done well for us and he once again played a major role in our breeding program. Our purchase of Grant’s Playboy 3X has added extraordinary calving ease to the breeding program as well as lots of hair. You will notice some new red genetics as well. Each year we review and evaluate what we can do better to meet the demands of our customers. Not only to analyze our bull power, but any changes that need to made on our females as well. With 22 years in the purebred business we have learned to cull hard and do our homework in entering new genetics to our female and bull batteries. These changes include solid genetics, calving ease (without losing performance), good scrotal development, hair, good feet, red factor and white, polled or horned, and really, at the top of our list, very good dispositions. Dam performance is measured as well. We certainly hope that these additions catch your attention and meet your needs. Our bulls are fed a well-balanced feed ration to give them quality nutrition and consistent gain. Animal herd health is a priority to us with the end goal to provide you with strong healthy bulls that can get out and get the job done. Your calf crop reflects on our ability to recognize your needs. Elder Charolais Farms back our guarantee on our bulls. If you have any problems we would be obliged if you contact us first. Our ultimate goal is to provide you as producers return on your investment. For those not familiar with our sale, we operate this sale right at the farm and use a Power Point display. The bulls will be on display in pens in front of the barn for you to walk through prior to the sale. Please arrive early to have a good look at the bulls and join us for dinner. You are also invited to come to the yard any time before the sale to go through the bull pen at your convenience. Coffee is always on and visitors are always welcome. We look forward to answering any questions that you might have on these bulls, their sires and their dams. Please feel free to call. Our most sincere thanks go out to our family and friends for their generous support in gettin it done! We look forward to visiting with those of you present on sale day.
W
e would like to invite you to the Elder Charolais Farm for a relaxing day of buying quality bulls. The hospitality is great and the sale is always a fun time. Being a powerpoint sale, the atmosphere is calm and enjoyable and four generations of the Elders will be there to greet you. The quality of bulls is very good again this year with another solid set of bulls with something for everyone. There are calving ease bulls by the Playboy bull that has done just a super job servicing the heifers to some power bulls by the homegrown Wahkamo who is proving to be a truly great herdsire. If you want a red factor bull, there are some very thick, easy doing, good haired, tan bulls by the Copper Kettle sire and some trouble free Sterling Silver and Bobbi Boys sons. If you haven’t used a Charolais bull before you need to give it a try and see the advantages that crossbreeding will give you. Once again, the Charcross calves were setting the standard for the sales last fall and with the number of producers putting Charolais bulls on their black cows, we are going to see the silver revolution put money in your pocket. Quality and performance will always top the market and starting with the best bull battery you can will pay you dividends for many years. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to help you find a bull that is right for your program. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By By Livestock Tel 306.584.7937 Cell 306.536.4261

Reference Sire Elder’s Wahkamo 919W Homozygous Pld We have used Wahkamo as our primary herd sire. He has consistently produced a calf crop with character desirable traits for building your herd. Wahkamo is homozygous polled. He is a moderate framed bull with the thickness and structural soundness you need in a herdbull. He moves out easily, has exceptional temperament, and sound feet with good testicles. Performance on 4 legs. He consistently adds these traits to the bull calves. His calves deliver hair, length of spine, depth of rib and will pay dividends in the auction barn. The first Wahkamo daughters are now in production and have good udders with ample milk. He has lived up to the potential we saw in him as a calf. His dam goes back to a cow that has been a major influence in our Charolais herd. There are 18 Wahkamo bull calves in this offering today.
