From the desk at T Bar…
Welcome to the eleventh annual “Best of the Breeds” Bull Sale. 2015 comes with a little change... since Parkland Livestock is closed, this annual leading event has been moved to Heartland at Yorkton, a stranger to no one in the area and a sale barn in which several of you market your calves. The most important feature has not changed.....”Best of the Breeds” remains one of the few one-stop shopping events in Western Canada every spring. It is a sale designed to supply necessary breeds in the livestock industry with both Continental and British influence. The Continental breeds, Charolais, Simmental and Gelbvieh will add performance and pounds of calf at weaning while complimenting the British Black and Red Angus who bring maternal and calving ease components. This sale allows farmers and ranchers to evaluate some of the finest representatives of their respective breeds...all under one roof in one trip! This is not a consignment sale...it is a group of leading producers, whose herds are not large enough to sustain their own stand alone event. Each breeder is a leader within their respective breed and dedicated to supply the highest of quality for their customers. Each breeder takes advantage of the use of artificial insemination, adding cutting-edge genetics to their programs and keeping their customer requirements in mind. Congratulations to all who have weathered the ten year storm...I’m sure all have thought you were crazy at one time or another...your friends and neighbors were at the curling rink, while you were calving cows. Well...your persistence has paid off...you can drink any color of coffee you want! Last fall, we experienced the best replacement market in history....and it’s only just begun. To rebuild our cow herd numbers will take years...so remember that one half of your calf crop will be female...therefore, maternal values will carry much more importance whether you are selecting British, Continental or both. Plan to be with us at Heartland in Yorkton for one of the feature events of the spring sale season. Come early, view the bulls and be guests for a marvelous noon lunch, complete with refreshments. If we, at T Bar C, may be of any assistance, prior to or sale day, feel free to give Ted, Shane or myself a call...we would be pleased to assist you with your selections.

We would like to welcome you to the 2015 edition of the Best of the Breeds Bull Sale. It looks like 2014 turned out to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to beef prices. Record-setting prices are common throughout the country with many producers averaging over $1800 per calf or more. These are prices we can get used to. Congratulations on hanging in there over the past 12 years. Now is the time to put some of that extra cash to work by purchasing a quality Charolais herdsire. Our bull pen this year is as strong as we have ever had. We feature performance bulls that are sound structurally, have quiet dispositions, and great hair coats. Calving ease is one of the most important things we strive for and not only is built into the bulls, but it is a top priority for our females as well. You can trust that the bull you buy will leave you the kind of calves that will top the market and breed cows for years to come! Feel free to call us if you are interested in any of the bulls, or stop by and see them before the sale. We would be happy to show you around. See you sale day!

Triple Polled - being tested for homozygous polled. This is a bull we have been watching all year and he keeps getting deeper, thicker and more impressive all the time. His mother is our best two year old that has that extra depth we all want. She milks heavy with an almost perfect udder. His sire LT Ledger is a bull that is bursting onto the scene as a great calving ease bull with enough jam to get it done. Breeder bull for sure! Video available March 1st.

We showed him once this summer where he won the bull calf jackpot over all breeds and then was named Champion later that day. He is deep, loose hided and a disposition you can’t beat.
