Commissioners ResolutionsJune 23, 2026

The Rev. Dr. Frances Lin, the presbytery leader of Riverside Presbytery, and the Rev. Dr. Sean Chow, executive director of the Presbytery of San Diego, have been endorsed by their respective presbyteries for the positions they seek.

In a news release announcing their candidacy, the two said their shared theme, “God’s Abundance,” “grows out of the conviction that even in seasons of anxiety, change and loss, God has given and continues to give the church what it needs.”

“This abundance is seen in the grace that sustains us through hardship, the hope that emerges when all seems lost, and the renewal that springs forth in times of transition,” they said in the release. “It is present in the laughter of children, the wisdom of elders and the daily acts of care, generosity and hospitality that bind us together. Abundance is experienced when resources are shared, gifts are recognized and every person is valued for who they are.”

Former committee moderator and vice moderator take on new coordinator role

At the 226th General Assembly, we had the privilege of serving together as moderator and vice moderator of the Domestic Engagement Committee. That experience — navigating complex business, managing hybrid participation, and holding space for faithful discernment — now shapes our work for the 227th GA.

This year, we are serving as moderator/vice moderator coordinators, a role designed to provide consistent training, preparation and onsite support for committee leadership. Our work begins months before the Assembly convenes. In partnership with the GA Training team, we help design and lead both in-person and online training sessions that equip moderators and vice moderators with the skills they need to lead effectively — from parliamentary procedure and technology management to facilitation, tonesetting and community-building.

Once leaders are appointed, we serve as their primary point of contact through the Assembly

itself. That means walking alongside them as they prepare agendas, navigate challenging conversations, draft reports and present their committee’s work in plenary.

Having sat in those roles ourselves, we know how demanding and meaningful the work can be. Strong committee leadership shapes the spirit and effectiveness of the entire Assembly. Our hope is that through thoughtful preparation and steady support, we can help create conditions where discernment is both orderly and open to the Spirit’s movement.

It is a joy to continue serving the church in this way.

Stated Clerk of the General Assembly reflects on why “Persevering Toward Wholeness” is an appropriate theme for the church in this moment

The Rev. Jihyun Oh gives insight into the decision to make the theme of the 227th General Assembly “Persevering Toward Wholeness.” Listen to her thoughts on how this fits for the church in this particular time and place and how the specific word choices connect us to the larger church globally.

Unification Commission Member shares insights and hopes about the process

Unification Commission member Emily Martin is a ruling elder who previously served as a Young Adult Advisory Delegate to the General Assembly. Here she shares her decision to serve on the commission and apply what she learned as a YAAD on a deeper level. Martin says she has enjoyed representing her presbytery and also bringing a younger perspective to the commission, which she says the denomination clearly wants. She says it’s important to understand where someone is coming from when they’ve grown up in this denomination, and it’s important for the future of the denomination to have young people influencing it. Watch her video to hear more about her experiences and perspective.

Wisconsin church honors art therapist’s memory with vibrant annual fair

Attending the 227th General Assembly gives commissioners and advisory delegates an opportunity to get to know the many churches in and around Milwaukee. Each church has a story.

The Donna Lexa Memorial Art Fair, sponsored annually by Jerusalem Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee, is a juried celebration of art and community held each August in honor of the late Donna Lexa — an art therapist whose creativity and compassion shaped both church and community life. The free event features local artists, live music, food, children’s activities, and a used book sale, with proceeds supporting

Waukesha County nonprofits and fine arts scholarships for Kettle Moraine High School seniors.
