MONTAG ENTUMECIDO Montag entumecido es una pieza que da nombre a la muestra, es mediante video, audio y diversas técnicas fotográficas que el artista reflexiona retomando las visiones postapocalíticas de Ray Bradbury.
Montag entumecido is a piece that gives name to this exhibit; through video, audio and various photographic techniques the artist reflects the post-apocalyptic visions of Ray Bradbury.
Montag entumecido En Montag Entumecido el artista dirime su propia concepción del tiempo. La obra, en su totalidad, se gesta por la coincidencia numérica del odómetro de un coche. La cámara de un teléfono celular, cercano y esclavo, es la herramienta elegida para registrar las reflexiones sobre el ambiente cerrado y abrumador de un trayecto donde el tiempo se queda inmóvil y sólo es perceptible al transfigurarse en números progresivos representando un viaje que no lleva a ningún lado. Durante la producción de este proyecto, casualmente, en uno de estos recorridos, una voz en el radio inicia la lectura de un fragmento de Farenheit 451 que describe al personaje principal en el metro. Esta circunstancia permite al artista grabar en un video, en el mismo teléfono celular, el pasaje que redondea el esquema medular numérico-temporal. Esta composición fotográfica multidisciplinaria nos hace cómplices de las introspecciones de Martínez y busca provocar en el espectador el estremecimiento de inutilidad de un viaje en automóvil, cualquier día, en la ciudad de México.
Montag entumecido In Montag Entumecido, the artist resolves his own concept of time. The work, as a whole, exploits the numerical coincidences of the car odometer. The cell phone, a handy slave, is the tool of choice to record thoughts about that contained space and an exhausting trip where time stands still; they are only perceptible when transformed into progressive numbers representing a journey leading nowhere. By chance, on one of the drives during the creation of his project, a voice on the radio begins reading a piece from Fahrenheit 451 describing the main character in the subway. This enables the artist to record a video—on the same cell phone— embracing the core numerical-temporal scheme of that specific passage. This multidisciplinary photographic composition makes us complicit in Martinez’s insights, and seeks to provoke the futile thrill of a car trip in the spectator, any day, in Mexico City.
