#1:

Don't let your furniture crowd around a tiny rug. In a living room, aim for at least the front legs of all seating to rest comfortably on the rug to seamlessly anchor the space.

High-Traffic (Entryways/Kitchen): Jute, Sisal, or Synthetics. Ultra-durable, spill-resistant, and built for daily chaos. Low-Traffic (Bedrooms): Wool or Shag. Think ultimate underfoot luxury and cozy, barefoot mornings.
TIP #3: ORIENTATION
Match the rug shape to the room shape. Long, narrow rooms need runners or rectangular rugs placed lengthwise. Round tables look best on round rugs.
PRO TIP: When in doubt, tape it out! Use painter's tape on your bare floor to visualize the rug's footprint before buying so you can visualize the exact layout and scale.

Stedman Stevens is a man who understands that life doesn't always go according to plan. A serial entrepreneur with over 35 years of experience, Stevens has built and turned around multiple companies. However, his most profound "turnaround" challenge came not from a boardroom, but from the personal tragedy of losing his wife.
Stevens redefines success after loss in his newly released book, Finding Hope After Loss: Navigating What's Next and How You Get There. Drawing on his background in chemistry, pharmaceutical outcomes, and forensic science, he applies a unique, systematic approach to grief. He treats the recovery process much like a business turnaround, encouraging individuals to become the "CEO of their life."
Stevens' philosophy centers on building "super habits" and resilience through hope, adaptability, and emotional awareness. One of his signature concepts is the "parking lot," a mental tool for temporarily shelving negative thoughts to maintain focus on the present.
A respected voice on NPR and national healthcare panels, Stevens has become a tireless advocate for more robust grief support systems. His current collaboration with cancer associations to develop patient advocacy programs is a testament to his mission: bridging the cold gap between clinical treatment and the warmth of emotional recovery. Through his words and his work, Stevens offers a powerful reminder: while loss is a universal storm, it is possible to navigate through the clouds and find a deliberate path back to gratitude.

The Timeline
Cheese Something Blue
French Weddings Last 12-hours, Minimum: NC weddings end promptly so the venue can flip for the next booking. The French find this baffling. NC brides find this a relief.
The French Bring Wine from the Family Vineyard: NC brings a signature cocktail called "The Southern Charm." Nobody goes home thirsty. Nobody goes home early, either.
The Cheese Course Is Not Optional: It arrives after the main, before the dessert, with bread and silence. This is not negotiable. This is France.
In France, Bleu is the Color of Loyalty and Fidelity: In Chapel Hill, Carolina Blue is practically a religion. Coincidence? We think not.
The Gift
Skip the Registry Panic: Both cultures agree the best wedding gift is something beautiful for the home, something that outlasts the honeymoon glow. A piece from Paysage Home in Wilmington or Chapel Hill is the kind of gift that earns its own spot on the mantle.

This June, Paysage is officially declaring it Clara Luciani season. Following her latest musical triumphs, France’s reigning queen of chic is bringing her signature disco-pop therapy to our airwaves. As a brilliant French singersongwriter and musician, Clara effortlessly channels the poetic depth of classic chanson legends while keeping her heels firmly planted on the modern dance floor. If your summer checklist includes looking effortlessly cool while walking in slow motion, you need "Le reste" on repeat. Co-produced by Breakbot, this track is a masterclass in nu-disco perfection. The lyrics are technically about a breakup, but the bassline is so aggressively joyful it will make you forget your ex's name entirely. With its pastel-soaked, Jacques Demy-inspired energy, "Le reste" is a literal shot of Mediterranean sunshine. Turn the radio up, pour something chilled, and let Clara guide your summer soundtrack.

Luminous interiors are May's defining design moment. From hand-blown glass vessels that catch the low sun, to open-weave rattan that casts architectural shadows, the homes we love right now are built around light.
Here's how to design with dappled radiance.
Euro-Summer Nostalgia

Outdoor spaces are taking major design cues from sun-drenched European rivieras. This trend focuses on a breezy, slow-living aesthetic that pairs romantic, vintage-inspired elements with playful, graphic textiles. Think high-contrast stripes, custom typography, and weathered bistro tables that make an afternoon coffee feel like a getaway. Accent with delicate, colorful glassware to bring instant romance to your patio.

The Upholstered Garden
The patio is officially your second living room. This trend brings plush, tailored comfort outside with high-performance textiles, deep-seated woven wicker, and premium teak tables that refuse to sacrifice style.
Jewel-Toned Sanctuaries

Grounded rock walls meet vibrant jewel tones this season. Incorporating a bright teal, red, or green dining vignette creates a captivating focal point that beautifully contrasts with lush garden greenery.
