TheUBCTransportationStatusReportandtransit-orienteddevelopmentpoliciesformedthebasisofthedesign.To accommodatetheincreasingdensityintheUniversityEndowmentLands,aseriesofnewbusrouteswereproposed,with potentialsitelocationsidentifiedbasedonbustraffictomaximizeservice Programactivityaimedtotargetdiversetime rangesthroughoutthedayandfulfillmissingneedsoncampus

MapleTreeSquareisoftenregardedbytouristsasthebirthplaceofVancouver Althoughitsiconicbrickstreetsappearas historicalartifacts,theywereonlylaidhalfacenturyago.Theprojectaimstodecolonizetheplazathroughanactionable, countermonumentalperformanceinrecognitionitstensionswithindigenoushistory.
Theformationofthecounter-monumentbeginswiththegradualremovalofbrick,allowingnativeplantingtoemerge.Excessbricksarerepurposedforseatingmoundsorientedtowardthreecentral performancespacesthatfosterIndigenousstylesoflearning.

Wind,rain,andleaffallareoftenseenasdisorderlyphenomenaincities Theprojectexploresbuiltinfrastructurebeingpurposelydesignedtoreveal, emphasize,andreconfiguretheunderlyingrulesofnaturalprocesses, curatingexperiencesthatallowthemtobeobservedinaction.
RainRoom:Arraysoftiltedglasspanelscapturerainwatertochannelthroughslits,formingcascadingsheetsofrainthatcreatebothphysicaland acousticdivisionswithinthespace.Theserainwallsdrainintosteppedbasinsbelow,graduallylimitingaccessastheyfillup.
Whirlway:Ajourneyofplaythroughawindtunnelbytheseawall.Framesofpinwheelsspinwiththebreezeandamistdevicefueledbyrainwaterrevealsthedirectionofthewind.
