Welcome Hello and a very warm welcome to the 2023 Over 60’s Tri Nations Football Tournament. England are extremely proud to host the event this year and we hope our friends from Wales and Northern Ireland enjoy the facilities here at Kirby Muxloe FC. This is the third time that three home nations have come together to compete in this prestigious Over 60’s ‘international’ competition and it’s a shame that Scotland are still unable to field a team. The inaugural tournament took place in 2020 in Northern Ireland. Games were played at both Newcastle and Kilkeel and the hosts were victorious in a closely fought contest. The 2021 tournament was unfortunately cancelled because of COVID but Wales hosted in 2022 at the Ocean Park Arena in Cardiff. Once again, Northern Ireland were victorious and retained the trophy. This year’s tournament is sure to be as keenly contested as previous competitions. We hope everyone enjoys the occasion – it’s a great competition and we expect the standard of football to be very high. We also hope everyone takes the opportunity to make new friends and renew old acquaintances. We would of course like to thank Kirby Muxloe Football Club for use of their excellent facilities and also give a big thank you to those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to both raise money and organise the whole event.
