Kirby Muxloe Football Club – Ratby Lane, Kirby Muxloe, LE9 2AQ Kirby Muxloe Football Club are delighted to host the 2021 Over 55’s Four Nations football tournament and offer a warm welcome to all players, officials and supporters.
Over 55’s Four Nations Football Tournament 24th - 26th September 2021 Kirby Muxloe FC, Leicester, LE9 2AQ, England
The club was founded in 1910 and the clubhouse built in 1972. Gary Keenan (who is an England Veterans’ representative) was appointed manager in 1989 and during his tenure floodlights were erected and a new floodlit all-weather training pitch was built. In 2006 Kirby reached the final of the Leicestershire County Cup and won the Leicestershire Senior League Premier division in 2008. In 2009 they were crowned inaugural champions of the newly formed East Midlands Counties League and promoted to the Midland Football Alliance. In 2014 Gary stood down, with his assistant John Love (also an England Veterans, representative) taking over as First team manager. They currently compete in Division 1 of the Midland Football League at step 6 of the football pyramid. During 2019 the senior club merged with Kirby Muxloe 88 Junior Football Club who run over 25 teams playing in the Leicester Sunday leagues. A Football Foundation grant was also successfully secured enabling provision of a new 4G pitch and improvements to the general facilities.
There is also an ongoing partnership with the Star Soccer Academy, a new Under 18 team competing in the Leicester Midweek Floodlit League and a ladies team competing in the Leicestershire Women’s Senior League. Exciting times for Kirby Muxloe Football Club and plenty to look forward to for the future.

Hello and a very warm welcome to the 2021 Over 55 Four Nations football tournament. It’s great to be back playing football after the terrible Coronavirus pandemic and we hope everyone has been vaccinated and remains safe and well.

England are extremely proud to host the event this year and we hope our friends from Wales and Northern Ireland enjoy the facilities here at Kirby Muxloe. This is the 3rd time that four home ‘nations’ have come together to compete in this prestigious Over 55 ‘international’ competition. The inaugural tournament took place in 2018 but only had teams representing Wales and Northern Ireland. In 2019 England entered the fray with the Royal Air Force making up the fourth ‘nation’ in Scotland’s absence. The tournament in 2020 was obviously cancelled and once again Scotland are unable to field a team in the over 55 age group. We are therefore extremely pleased to welcome England Veterans’ Over 60’s in to the tournament and wish them the very best of luck. We hope everyone enjoys the occasion - it’s a great competition and the standard of football is very high. We also hope everyone takes the opportunity to make new friends and renew old acquaintances.

We would of course like to thank Kirby Muxloe Football Club for use of their excellent new facilities and 4G pitch and also give a big thank you to those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to both raise money and organise the whole event. We would also like to thank the match officials and of course the many supporters who have travelled with each of the teams – it wouldn’t be the same without you. Good luck to everyone, may the best team win and a safe journey home.
