With an innovative approach to the learning environment, MVS engaged Williams Sonoma Contract to accentuate collaborative casual spaces for students and faculty. The furnishings were intended to be stylish yet durable, to create the vibe of a neighborhood coffee shop.

Cooper Carry was charged to design two dormitory halls for upper school female students. The two English style houses include student rooms, communal bath rooms, gathering spaces and a shared kitchen in each hall. Each building also offers a well-appointed 3-bedroom residential suite for the family of the Head of House and another unit for staff.

A space with many functions and serving many needs, the University Center would be the hub of the Macon campus. Students and visitors alike could dine, attend events, exercise and conduct meetings and conferences. A common corridor “café” space acts as a conduit, joining all areas seamlessly.

Amber Grace offers a model approach for supportive living communities. Cooper Carry was charged to design a customized environment including a close-knit collection of eight residences created for up to 48 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The 10-acre, master-planned community provides a welcoming and enriching space for adults to live in a faith-based, supportive environment that enhances independence, fosters a sense of belonging and provides vocational and life skills.

With a quickly-increasing student body, the school required a facility for their upper-class students to include a library, classrooms, chapel & café. The architecture and interiors sought to invoke an established sense of the school’s respected values and traditions.

The corporate offices of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship had been in the same location for over 15 years. Their staff had grown significantly in that time and the existing building was no longer meeting their needs. With goals of collaboration, team building and an overall sense of community, the new location was charged with providing a combination of private and communal spaces.

The Otis Redding Center for the Arts is a multipurpose space for students ages 518 to explore their interests in all elements of music and the arts. The 15,000 square feet, state-of-the-art facility features seven creative labs, five private lesson rooms, an amphitheater, staff offices and the O3 Recording Studio, named after Otis Redding, III. The center is a testament to the enduring legacy of Otis Redding, who was not only a musician, but also a humanitarian and philanthropist who was passionate about empowering young people through education.

To accommodate a fast-growing membership, the addition of a new worship facility was necessary. The existing sanctuary and classrooms were re-planned to allow larger, more flexible spaces with an emphasis on better traffic flow, technology and improved security.

Within the personality of the Cleveland House of Blues is a careful blend of ideas and styles that create a unique place revealing a story of Cleveland’s past, including significant reference to the history of Rock ’n’ Roll. The House of Blues, existing on 4th Street and Euclid Avenue was originally occupied by a Woolworth’s department store. The site was chosen for its location and the opportunity to bring life back to the area. The project team worked together to preserve many existing elements of the space. The exterior façade of the building was kept intact and restored. This was done not only to keep with the architectural tradition of the area, but also to preserve a piece of Cleveland’s history. Inside the House of Blues the terrazzo flooring was kept throughout the main level. The total scope included a 350-seat music hall, restaurant, retail store, meeting/banquet spaces, club level, private dining rooms, green rooms & office space.

The Galleria originally opened in 1970 and has grown to be one of the most recognizable landmarks in Houston, visited by more than 17 million people each year. In 2000, the new owner undertook an 818,014 square foot renovation of the existing mall and a 660,000 square foot expansion of gross leasable area. As with the renovation, the expansion of the Galleria was designed with clean, contemporary lines, rooted in classic modern architecture, resulting in a timeless look. Cooper Carry’s challenge was to take voluminous, unarticulated spaces with cold concrete surfaces and transform them into fashionable, energetic areas that would guide shoppers throughout the Galleria, yet appeal to diverse and often international shoppers.

The 2009 renovation of the 19,000 seat arena focused on a full refresh of the V.I.P. suites. Wishing to rival high-end amenities found at other premier venues, the Hawks organization and A.F.C.R.A. charged The Johnson Studio to design spaces that offer a premium experience for their executive-level clientele.

LOEWS VANDERBILT PROJECT: LOEWS VANDERBILT – NASHVILLE CLIENT:

Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, completed a large-scale renovation of the lobby level along with approximately 340 hotel guest room baths. The existing lobby level lounge areas, front desk area, entry, back of house offices, restaurant and bar areas were largely gutted and redesigned, enriching the overall lobby experience for guests as well as improving hotel operations. The new design provides an increased sense of modernization to the hotel while also increasing the sense of connection to Nashville’s musical traditions and southern heritage.

This grand resort opened in 1902 and has 269 guest rooms and numerous gracious amenity spaces. In this phase, the design team renovated the Main Dining Room, Sun Dining Room and Stickley’s Restaurant & Bar. The botanic design of the carpet was a key element, intended to harmonize with the glorious view surrounding this resort.

This new-build project sought to offer a gracious modern spin on classic Southern hospitality & tradition. Combining the impression of an existing brick factory interior with traditional motifs and more progressive finishes, the design welcomes guests in a manner that is uniquely Savannah.

POLO GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB PROJECT: POLO GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB - CUMMING, GA CLIENT: CLUB CORP. With today’s faster paced lifestyles, country clubs are challenged with attracting younger members and families. The Polo Country Club was last renovated in the early 90’s with a heavy, dark theme. Adhering to a conservative budget, the design team created a lighter, more modern design to give the dining room and bar a fresh inviting atmosphere.

2460 PEACHTREE ST. PROJECT: 2460 PEACHTREE STREET - ATLANTA CLIENT: WATERTON ASSOC. LLC This 18 story, 236-unit high-rise apartment building, built in the mid 1980’s, was purchased by Waterton Associates and required extensive improvements throughout. The design team was tasked with full renovations for all interior & exterior public areas and moderate renovations to the residential units (finishes & millwork only). Amenities were expanded to include a pet bathing room, dog park, expanded fitness center, expanded club room and new outdoor communal and quiet spaces.

THE FIVE by ARIUM PROJECT: THE FIVE BY ARIUM - ATLANTA CLIENT: CARROLL This new apartment community is perfectly situated between the Chattahoochee River and the new Braves stadium “The Battery”. Targeting the young professional market, The Five tasked the design team to create model units that would appeal to an active clientele. Creating an Urban aesthetic that maximized the space and connected to the nature trails nearby was the magic formula.

A vintage 1930’s train car was to be transformed into a “boutique hotel” on the rails. The busy executive traveler could travel and temporarily reside in style. When not utilized by the owner, it would be leased to VIP clientele.

The most premier restaurant in the hotel, Alov Steak was designed to cater to the expectations and tastes of executives and epicureans alike. With it’s adjacent jazz and cigar lounge, the restaurant’s visual energy of flaming grills in the show kitchen continues as guests transition seamlessly into the warmth and sensuality of the music and mood of the intimate cigar bar.

RITZ CARLTON - ATLANTA PROJECT: RITZ CARLTON – DOWNTOWN ATLANTA, GA CLIENT: RITZ CARLTON & PYRAMID HOTEL GROUP In a city known for resurgence, the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta was given a fresh modern direction while still paying homage to the brand’s roots in traditional design. With a limited budget, the design team was encouraged to utilize the existing wood wall panels and as much of the existing furnishings as was reasonable. Custom paint finishes, bold pops of color and commissioned modern art work & lighting were key elements in the transformation.

SHERATON FUZHOU PROJECT: SHERATON FUZHOU – CONVENTION HOTEL CLIENT:

Designed as a companion hotel to the Fujian Strait International Conference Center, the Sheraton Fuzhou hotel offers 396 guest rooms and suites. Considering both Eastern and Western cultures, the hotel’s design utilized a blend of Asian forms and color palette with transitional furnishings and finishes. The spacious ballrooms, pre-function and lobby can accommodate hundreds of visitors with a gracious, inviting ambiance.
