Suddenly “Miles Per Gallon” Matters Again

Even before the recent increases of the price of gasoline, the trend towards smaller displacement motorcycles was already growing in America. The little Honda Grom is almost a story of its own, with more than ¾ of a million reportedly sold. But the lightweight motorcycle category of motorcycles for sale under 500cc is much more widespread than just the Grom. Today, virtually all of the major manufacturers are offering small displacement bikes for trail or road riding, and their timing couldn’t be better now with gasoline selling for a dollar or two more per gallon.

With people coming into your store looking for small displacement motorcycles, chances are good they are new riders, perhaps motivated financially to find a cheaper way to get to work during the week. Suddenly, something that hasn’t been a big priority in buyer’s minds for a few years is how many miles per gallon a lightweight motorcycle can go on a tank of gas.

Then once you’ve got that new rider ready to buy, don’t forget they need everything to get started: a helmet, jacket, boots and gloves, plus the many other great accessories in the Parts Unlimited catalogs. Be sure to check out our story starting on page 30, followed by many of the leading aftermarket suppliers.

Our Cover Story in this issue starts out with a look back at the history of ICON, known through the years as the original underground street brand. The community of riders who know about and use ICON gear, is pretty much on the flip side of the coin from the lightweight motorcycle buyers.

ICON buyers ride hard, and they know there can be times when they might run out of talent on the road. Those are the times when built-in protective features of an ICON helmet and head-to-toe riding gear is needed. Way back in the early-2000s, ICON’s first brand ambassador, Jason Britton, was heard often reminding riders to expect the unexpected sometimes and to “dress for the crash.”

To this day, the team at ICON still rides a lot, and filled with the inspiration of Jason Britton’s early advice, they continue to create products that not only look amazing, but also that riders can count on them if the unexpected does happen. Check out the ICON story starting on page 28. ■

ROAD RACE PROGRAM OPENS SIXTH SEASON AT MOTOAMERICA Brian J. Nelson photos

The Royal Enfield Build.Train.Race. (BTR) Road Race program kicked off its sixth consecutive season at the opening round of the 2026 MotoAmerica Championship, with the first two races held at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta back in April.

The all-female road racing series, supported by Parts Unlimited and Drag Specialties, continues to serve as a development platform for women in professional motorcycle competition. This year’s 10-rider field includes six newcomers alongside four returning competitors from the 2025 season, each building their own race-spec Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.

Among the 2026 lineup, four riders hail from Brazil – returning racers Tati Paze and Karina Simoes, joined by newcomers Juliana Bernardes and Sany Max Falci – underscoring the program’s growing international reach. The lineup also in-

cludes Brianna Cutler, Emily Dickson, Bryanna Everitt, Marie Madura, Jasmine Noelle, and Tiffinie Vo.

At Road Atlanta, the Class of ‘26 wasted no time getting competitive. Race One featured a four-way battle for the podium across a five-lap dash, with Cutler taking the victory. Noelle finished second and Everitt claimed third, all within a second of each other. Dickson, competing in her first BTR event, was in the mix for a podium spot before crashing at the final corner.

Cutler backed up her Race One performance with a commanding win in Race Two, completing the weekend double. Noelle and Everitt again rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively.

“It’s always a pleasure to welcome the new riders to the Build.Train.Race. program and see who will lay down an early marker for the season at the opening round,” says

The 2026 Build.Train.Race. season kicked off at Road Atlanta. Bryanna Everitt(#93) leads Brianna Cutler (#35), Emily Dickson (#99), Jasmine Noelle (#711), Tati Paze (#55), Tiffanie Vo (#910), and Marie Madura (#616).

Adrian Sellers, Head of Custom & Motorsport at Royal En field. “Brianna Cutler’s off-season dedication and practice paid off, and she couldn’t have asked for a better start to the year. I’m looking forward to seeing who will challenge her at Round Two in a month’s time.”

The BTR program pairs on-track competition with struc tured mentorship and coaching led by Grand Prix legend Freddie Spencer, offering participants development in both riding skills and technical preparation. Each competi tor transforms a stock Continental GT 650 into a race-ready machine using factory-developed bodywork and per formance upgrades, with controlled guidelines ensuring parity across the grid. The equal-equipment format keeps the emphasis on rider talent and racecraft.

With continued backing from Parts Unlimited and other key industry partners, the BTR program remains a strong example of how manufacturer-supported racing can create broader opportunity and develop new talent within the sport.

As of press time, the Build.Train.Race. Road Race program was headed to Road America in Wisconsin May 29-31 for Races 3 and 4 of the 2026 Championship. Two additional rounds at The Ridge Motorsports Park and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will complete the eight-race season.

Lawwill

1940-2026

Mert Lawwill, star of On Any Sunday, winner of 15 AMA National Championship races, and 1969 Motorcycle Grand National Champion, passed away on May 5th at the age of 85 in his home state of Idaho.

Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Mert was a longtime factory racer for Harley-Davidson through one of the most competitive

eras in the sport. Early in his career, Mert had the opportunity to pursue racing full time and he would go on to capture the 1969 AMA Grand National Championship. Known for his smooth style and mechanical intuition, he was not only a champion rider, but also a technical pioneer.

His story reached a broader audience in the early-1970s when he co-starred with Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen in the landmark film On Any Sunday, directed by Bruce Brown. Brown’s decision to include Lawwill introduced him to a global audience—many discovering Mert for the first time through the film—and helped define the culture of motorcycling for generations.

Following his racing career, Lawwill brought that same engineering mindset into the bicycle industry, where he became a true pioneer of the sport’s early development. He is credited with producing one of the world’s first production mountain bikes, the PRO CRUISER, in 1977—well ahead of the category’s mainstream emergence.

Yet among all his accomplishments, the work that meant the most to Mert was deeply personal. Motivated by his close friend and fellow dirt track competitor Chris Draayer, who lost his arm in a racing accident but was determined to ride again, Lawwill set out to find a solution. The result was a prosthetic innovation known as “Mert’s Hands”—a device that allows riders who have lost a hand or arm to maintain a secure connection to the motorcycle while still being able to safely release in the event of a fall. This work opened the door for countless adaptive athletes to return to riding and represented, in Mert’s eyes, his most meaningful contribution.

Mert Lawwill was preceded in death by his wife, June Lawwill. He is survived by his son, Joe Lawwill; his daughter, Marcella Lawwill; his stepsons, Rick, Mike, and Tim Suchomel; three grandchildren; and extended family, friends, and a global community of riders and fans who were inspired by his life on and off the bike.

» We at Parts Magazine extend our condolences to the Lawwill family.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE TO BE HELD IN LOS ANGELES AREA

Joe Lawwill, Mert’s son, announced recently that Mert Lawwill’s Celebration of Life will be held in Carson, CA on Sunday, August 30th. This gathering is intended to be a true Celebration of Life rather than a formal funeral service. The event will feature: Guest speaker storytelling panels, Vintage motorcycles and memorabilia, The inaugural “Mert Lawwill Vintage Dirt Track Concours,” Historical displays and artwork, and a Special tribute film presentation by Dana Brown. SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT COLE DAVIES: 250CC SUPERCROSS EAST CHAMPION

Cole Davies had already done the hard work by the time he reached the podium at the Philadelphia Supercross. With a win that clinched the 250cc Supercross East Championship, Davies the THOR/Yamaha athlete stood above the class with enough points that he didn’t even need to race the season finale to secure the title.

“Winning the 250 Supercross East Championship this year means everything to me,” Davies said. “I’ve worked my whole life for it, so to achieve that is a pretty big moment.”

For the celebration, Davies wore a special THOR Davies #1E jersey created for the championship moment. The AMA presented him with the No. 1 plate, and he also received the championship trophy and the first-place trophy for the Philadelphia win. Davies thanked his team and his parents for the sacrifices they made to help him reach this point. It was a long way from Waitoki, New Zealand, to the top step of an AMA Supercross podium.

Best of all, Cole Davies was smiling.

Throughout the season, Davies handled podium interviews with a calm, businesslike approach, even after race wins. His focus rarely shifted beyond the next gate drop. “Let’s focus on winning the next one,” he’d say.

In Philadelphia, though, the pressure was gone. Davies had the championship, and for the first time all season, the emotion showed. At just 19 years old, he has plenty more opportunities ahead, but this was the moment where everything came together.

The season didn’t begin smoothly for Davies. At the 250 East opener, he was caught in a first-turn pileup and charged from near the back of the field to finish fifth. It turned out to be the only race all season where he missed the podium.

From there, the momentum built quickly. Davies finished second at Daytona, then reeled off three straight wins. He followed that with a runner-up finish in the East/West Showdown, another overall victory, a third-place finish, and finally the championship-clinching win in Philadelphia.

With the championship already clinched, Davies still charged to the Salt Lake City win and closed his 250cc Supercross season out front.

Even with the title secured, there was still one more challenge waiting at the Supercross finale in Salt Lake City: another 250 East/West Showdown against multi-time 250cc champion Haiden Deegan. The rivalry had already produced two memorable showdowns during the season, with Davies and Deegan splitting victories while finishing second to each other in both races.

Salt Lake City marked the final time the two riders would face off in the 250cc class before Deegan’s move to the 450 division for the Pro Motocross series.

All eyes were on Davies and Deegan as they battled through the final Showdown of the year. The racing was intense, with both riders pushing for every advantage and trading a bit of contact along the way.

THOR/Yamaha’s Cole Davies spent the season focused on the next gate drop, but after clinching the 250cc Supercross East title, the smile came easy.

It took a full team effort to reach the Philadelphia podium, where Davies celebrated his 250cc Supercross East Championship with the people behind him.

When the checkered flag flew, it was Davies who took the win. The two riders congratulated each other after the race, and Davies once again climbed to the top step of the podium. This time, though, he wasn’t just smiling.

He was laughing.

“For THOR, it’s been awesome following Cole’s rise into the pro ranks,” said Josh Shorter, Global Brand Director THOR MX, “from relatively unknown rookie, to 250 Supercross Champion in his sophomore year is epic!” ■

» Parts Magazine congratulates Cole Davies on his 250cc Supercross East Championship. Look for your THOR riders to be back up front for the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Season.

Off-Road Heat

MOOSE OFF-ROAD RIDERS CHASE MIDSEASON MOMENTUM

As mud gives way to dust, temperatures and tensions are rising in off-road racing championships from coast to coast. Moose Offroad athletes are locked in battles for some of the biggest title fights in U.S. off-road racing, from Grand National Cross Country in the east to National Grand Prix Championship in the west.

In the GNCC Series, PHX Racing Honda’s Jordan Ashburn is looking to bring home another title. The 2022 champion scored a win at round five after an intense battle with AmPro Yamaha’s Liam Draper, and became one of the first repeat winners of the season at the following round six, the Old Gray GNCC. Ashburn’s round-six victory was even more intense, the Moose Offroad athlete taking the win by 0.6 seconds over the second place finisher. Ashburn managed to build up a points lead with his pair of victories, and maintains a grip on the championship heading into the second half of the season.

AmPro Yamaha’s Liam Draper is also squarely in the battle for the GNCC title, the youngster nearly nabbing his careerfirst win at The Dukes GNCC.

Draper sits less than 10 points out of the championship lead, and with a string of runner-up finishes in the first half of the season, it seems inevitable that he will be at the top step of the podium very soon.

Another tight battle is unfolding in the XC2 250 Pro ranks of GNCC, where Liqui Moly Beta Factory Off-Road Team’s Jhak Walker and KTM’s Jason Tino are in a dead heat at 150 points each. PHX Racing Honda’s Gus Riordan is quickly closing the gap to the leaders and now has multiple wins to his credit, serving notice that the second half of the season may come to a three-way battle for the XC2 title.

AmPro Yamaha’s Danielle McDonald sits atop the WXC women’s GNCC points after seven of 12 rounds, showing remarkable consistency and podium finishes at each stop.

In the American National Enduro Championship, Draper remains in the championship fight among the Baylor brothers – Grant Baylor and Steward Baylor Jr. As of press time, Draper was at second place in the points tally.

In the West it is premier-class rookie Mason Semmens who is beginning to shine. The FMF RPM/KTM Racing rider has relentlessly hounded Dante Oliveira at multiple NGPC races. Mason ran out front for most of round five’s 90-minute race, and the victory might have been his if a slight tip-over hadn’t changed his fortunes.

“Unfortunately, I had that little crash, but I’m stoked with how I rode,” said Semmens. “I’ve wanted this [sort of ride] for a while. We’ve been close, and this one feels good.”

Semmens once again gave Oliveira fits at NGPC round six at Glen Helen, and knows the defending champion is not untouchable. While Semmens may be the next to challenge the leader, it’s Dare DeMartile of the Liqui Moly Beta team who currently holds second in NGPC points. His consistency is keeping him at the pointy end of the field, and trails the points leader by three points. DeMartile has tasted victory in WORCS racing where he battles Semmens to defend his championship. Each with two wins apiece, the stage is set for a season-long fight for the title.

Youngster Cole Zeller has put his FMF RPM KTM at the top of the NGPC Pro II podium twice so far this season, and looks to progress further. The Moose Offroad-backed racer is starting to build the consistency to make a bid for the championship.

With more racing going on in National Hare & Hound, U.S. Sprint Enduro, American National Enduro, and J-Day OffRoad, there are plenty more Moose Offroad athletes going bar-to-bar for wins and podiums. ■

» The championship fights are heating up, and after an unpredictable first half, there’s no telling what surprises the second half of the season may hold. Parts Magazine wishes the field of Moose Offroad riders much success!

BEYOND THE PRICE TAG

TRAINING THAT HELPS DEALERS SELL VALUE

Dealership sales conversations often start with price and specs. That can close a sale, but it can also leave customers with products that do not truly fit their needs. The bigger risk is trading long-term relationships for short-term wins.

Today’s buyers sometimes know as much as, or more than, salespeople about product specs and pricing. That is true across retail. But in-store shoppers want more than a list of features. They want solutions. They want products that improve their moto lifestyle.

That is the idea behind the LeMans Growth Academy. The training platform helps salespeople move beyond selling features and toward selling product value. The goal is better customer connections and more confident salespeople who can sell the experience, not just the helmet, exhaust pipe or tire.

Take helmets. A rider who walks into your dealership looking for a helmet might already have a budget in mind, along with preferences for style and helmet type. That rider also has questions that go beyond, “Can I try this on?” They could have bought online, but they came to your store for expertise.

“Helmet shopping is a good example. What do salespeople need to know to have an educated conversation with a customer about helmets?” says Paul Devine, Vice President of

LeMans Growth Academy training helps dealership employees build confidence and product understanding, equipping them to guide customers toward solutions instead of just selling specs.

Sales and Marketing for LeMans Corporation. “Can they talk accurately and confidently about why a handmade Arai helmet costs what it does? This is especially important when considering your new parts department salesperson might have been stocking shelves at Walmart last week. It’s not just about price.”

That gap between product knowledge and customer guidance is where better training can make a difference. Suppliers can build training that focuses less on features and more on solving customer problems. When training emphasizes solutions, salespeople are better equipped to keep the conversation from becoming all about price.

That is when value becomes the real selling point. As Devine puts it, value is not one-size-fits-all. Some customers focus on price. Others are willing to spend more for quality, craftsmanship or features that matter to them.

“Value can be defined as utility divided by price,” says Kurt Kaufmann, CEO of the company that helped LeMans create its Growth Academy. “Low cost alone is not really the context here. People value things based on what utility they derive from them. If I don’t ride my motorcycle at night, the best headlight in the world will have no value to me at any price.”

On the sales floor, Kaufmann says that discussion of value changes selling into what he calls “solutioning.” Providing

solutions instead of products, and having conversations around value instead of price, requires a different kind of sales training. LeMans Growth Academy is the tool vendors use to provide that training to Parts Unlimited reps and dealership sales teams.

TRAINING IN PRACTICE

“The videos and training are priceless, allowing veteran employees to brush up and new employees to learn and absorb,” says Scott Mundell, parts and accessories manager at Fay Myers Motorcycle World outside of Denver. “What’s really good is when an employee takes a test after the training and gets more wrong than they should, and you get the team talking and helping each other out.”

Parts Unlimited suppliers that choose to participate create and post their own training materials in the LeMans Growth Academy platform. Dealer sales teams and Parts Unlimited sales reps can then take the training courses when it fits their schedules.

LEMANS GROWTH ACADEMY

Jesse Barnes spends roughly an hour per week on the Growth Academy training courses. “I’ve acquired knowledge about products that I wasn’t even aware that I didn’t know about, and I’ve been able to use this in conversations with customers,” says the salesman from Pro Motorsports in West Burlington, Iowa. “To the suppliers creating these courses, they teach me how to present [their] products to customers. They provide insights and knowledge that can’t be obtained anywhere else.” This information helps salespeople speak with confidence and become a trusted resource for customers, he adds.

Devine says he used to tell his sales reps, “Hey, company X is hosting a webinar later this week. I would have sales reps join on their mobile phones in their car or from their home office,” he says. “Probably about 30 percent of the participants were actually consuming the data and 70 percent were distracted because they were busy.”

Those reps now attend far fewer webinars because the same content can now live on the Growth Academy platform for anytime access. “You log in and learn about it when you have time,” he says. “You’re early for a dealer visit, hop on LeMans Growth Academy.”

It is the same for dealers, who no longer need to rely on scheduled webinars, or the occasional in-person visit from a vendor.

LONG TERM SOLUTIONS

“Several of our participating suppliers are already winning with their training,” says Kaufmann. “They are communicating the value of problem-solving products at competitive prices. Others are learning that they’ve had the same offering and the same positioning for 30 years, and they need to be set up for this next chapter of powersports. This program is helping folks recognize that there’s an opportunity for evolution in the way that they’re positioning themselves in stores.”

When you solve a customer’s problems, you create a relationship that lasts. “One of the ways we can get more people riding motorcycles is to improve the education at the store level,” says Devine. “Education is the core philosophy behind it. It’s about creating an experience where customers want to go in the dealership.” ■

With on-demand access, LeMans Growth Academy training fits into the workday, helping employees strengthen product knowledge and deliver more informed, value-driven sales conversations.
Hands-on product learning through LeMans Growth Academy helps dealership staff connect training to real-world scenarios, improving how they guide customers through gear decisions.

UNDERGROUND GOING

Ithe interstate toward empty industrial parks outside the city where the underground drag racing scene has more room to run..

Those are the riders that ICON knows best.

For nearly a quarter century, ICON has made its name as a brand that caters to the riders who were so often ignored

North America.

The original underground street brand is still catering to those riders, although styles, materials and gear technology have evolved. The needs of those riders have changed, too, except in one fundamental aspect: They still want gear that keeps them safe while also looking good.

Freestyle stunt OG

Jason Britton helped cement ICON’s place in stunt culture, urging riders to dress for the crash while keeping the brand tied to real street skill.

ICON’s “Ride Among Us” message has always centered on riders who look out for each other while pushing street gear beyond the expected.

With custom builds like Death or Glory, ICON used motorcycles as storytelling tools, linking its gear to the same street attitude that shaped the brand.

HOW ICON BUILT GEAR INTO A LIFESTYLE

When ICON made its debut in 2002, the urban sportbike scene was just heating up. Racers who wanted more freedom than the track offered were taking their skills to the streets, and street riders were getting their hands on performance bikes that let them push their limits in a new way.

It was in that kind of environment that the original ICON team came together to establish the brand in Portland, Oregon. Veteran rider Kurt Walter led the visual development of ICON,

camouflaging the gear’s protective features with graphics inspired by skate culture, punk aesthetics, tattoos and other counter-culture scenes.

The late Jeff Fox and THOR’s now-retired design director Jim Gallagher were also a part of ICON’s early days. Fox came up with the name of the brand, Gallagher created the logo for it and Walter established the aesthetic that still defines ICON.

Among the first products bearing the ICON name were the Alliance helmet, Neo-Daytona jacket and SuperDuty gloves. The gear had an edgier, more aggressive look than typical gear for sportbike riders. Even now, 24 years later, it’s hard to think of ICON without also thinking of skull-laden graphics splashed across its helmets.

As bold and unapologetic as the graphics and styles were, though, every ICON piece was built on a base of functional protection. Even the brand’s tagline, “Ride Among Us,” was about taking care of each other.

“There were too many riders out there not riding with protective gear, and we had too many friends who were lost,” explains ICON Design Manager John Whitaker. “It’s our statement to the world that we’re here, riding with you. We can draw all the skulls we want to draw, but what we really do is protect our friends, and we protect those who ride among us.”

The “we’re all in this together” attitude is one of the things Whitaker says has contributed to ICON’s longevity, not just as a brand but as a lifestyle. “Everyone in the office rides. Everyone has always ridden,” he explains. “We ride together and we test our gear together, and we’ve crashed together and had to take one or two of us to the ER together. It’s not just a job for all of us.”

That mentality struck a chord with the growing stunt scene in the early 2000s, and those riders were quick to adopt ICON

gear. ICON teamed up with stunt legend Jason Britton, which furthered the brand’s legitimacy in the stunt scene. ICON gear was a way for stunt riders to make their sport a bit safer while still being able to move easily on the bikes and, of course, look good doing it all.

“The Field Armor gear was ultra protective, and protecting those stunt riders became our focus,” says Whitaker. The Field Armor gear looked fierce and allowed easy movement, but it also added a layer of defense when a stunt inevitably went wrong. “Our riders were crashing almost every day, and letting them get back up again has been our mission. Whether you’re stunt riding or commuting, our gear is tested to the limits.”

Ultimately, ICON has never been just for stunters. It’s a brand for riders who attack the streets and want gear that reflects that mindset, with protection built for hard rides and styling that pushes back against the traditional look of motorcycle gear.

Over the past two decades, ICON has expanded into other aspects of motorcycling while hanging onto its core philosophy. The ICON 1000 line carried that same rejection of the expected, but it showed up through limited-edition pieces and handcrafted elements. Years of riding in the Pacific Northwest inspired the Raiden line, which focused on keeping ADV riders warm and dry.

The Neo-Daytona jacket and Mainframe helmet show ICON’s early formula: bold visuals, sportbike influence and protection built into the attitude.

ICON also built motorcycles to go along with the stories it was telling through its gear. Projects like Thunderchunky, Iron Lung, Major Tom and the Operator Ducati fit right into that ICON lifestyle.

Today, ICON is entering a new chapter under the returning creative leadership of Rob Schlueter, one of the original forces behind some of the brand’s most recognizable products, including the Variant helmet and Field Armor Stryker Vest. The ICON team is a tight, collaborative group that works across departments, and the brand’s athletes are more involved in product testing and content creation than ever before.

After all these years, ICON is still a team intent on maintaining its status as the original underground street brand. Showing up to support events that are rider-focused is a part of that. Riders can expect to see ICON not at high-profile events but more underground ones, like Prison Break, a stunt competition held at a former prison in Florida.

And, while supporting a stunt event is something ICON has been doing for years, street riding hasn’t stayed the same all this time. More traffic, improvements in safety features and even better rider connectivity are just a handful of the things that have changed when it comes to modern street riding, and ICON has evolved along with the sport.

One of the best examples of that evolution is the Threshold helmet. As a performance modular helmet, the Threshold gives riders the functionality and adaptability that today’s riders are looking for in a helmet, while also staying true to the ICON approach.

The wide shield provides a sweeping view of the road ahead, a hallmark of ICON helmets, and the internal dark smoke Threshold Dropshield can be deployed on the go. The emergency-release cheek pads, to ease removal in the event of an emergency, were something that didn’t even exist in street helmets back in 2002. Plus, the Threshold comes ready to accept ICON’s Helmlink Bluetooth communication system, another feature that wasn’t found in sportbike helmets back then.

The Threshold shares a lot of DNA with ICON helmets that came before it. The Airflite helmet evolved into the Ultraflite, and that helmet helped inspire the more relaxed, modular Threshold. All of it, of course, can be traced back to that first ICON helmet in 2002. The styles have evolved, but the mission is still the same; protect the most aggressive riders from the street’s harshest truths.

Or, more simply: Ride Among Us. ■

SMALL BIKES, BIG OPPORTUNITY

PARTS, GEAR AND ACCESSORIES FOR LIGHTWEIGHT MOTORCYCLES

Look across the powersports landscape and one thing is clear: small-displacement motorcycles are having a moment.

For new riders, they offer an easy first step. For returning riders, they make the jump back into the saddle less daunting. For your experienced customers, they deliver a different kind of fun: lighter weight, easy handling and the thrill of making a smaller bike work hard.

The 500cc-and-under class is deep. According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, OEMs offered roughly 50 models in that range between 2023 and 2025, and the lineup contin-

ues to grow. That includes sportbikes, compact Adventure bikes, retro standards, small-bore cruisers, Dual Sports and play bikes built for pure fun.

The lineup says plenty. Customers can choose from the retro feel of the Kawasaki W230 or Honda Trail125, the sporty edge of the Yamaha YZF-R3 or KTM 390 Duke, or the cruiser style of the Honda Rebel 300 and Rebel 500. Dual Sport and lightweight Adventure riders have options, too, with bikes like the Honda CRF300L and Kawasaki’s KLX230 and KLE 500 models helping drive interest in commuting, trail riding and weekend exploring.

Then there’s the Honda Grom. Since its 2014 debut, the mini has built a huge following around its size, attitude and customization potential. Honda reports more than 750,000 Groms sold worldwide since launch.

Price helps fuel the category, but access may be the bigger story. These bikes are easier to manage, less intimidating and more capable than many riders expect. They fit city streets, short rides, backroads, moto camping and casual exploration.

That creates real opportunity at the parts counter.

Customers buying lightweight motorcycles still need the full

setup: tires, replacement parts, maintenance products, luggage, riding gear, accessories and performance upgrades. The bikes may be smaller, but the sales path can be wide.

The Lightweight Tire List Options from Touring to the Track

Lightweight motorcycles are popular for good reason, including their versatility. They’re a great option for everything from daily commutes to racetrack use. That versatility means lightweight bike owners want choices when it comes to tires. Pirelli has three tires that cover lightweight bikes, from long-distance touring to high-performance riding and everything in between.

“The right tire transforms what a lightweight motorcycle is capable of, and Pirelli has engineered options across the full spectrum, from Gran Turismo touring to track-ready performance,” says Joseph Lee, Marketing Manager, Pirelli.

“That same WSBK-derived technology and racing DNA is behind every tire we make and is available to every rider, regardless of displacement.”

For riders looking for a solid everyday tire for things like commuting, touring or weekend getaways, the Pirelli Angel GT tire is the perfect blend of high mileage, stability and performance. This Gran Turismo sport-touring tire stands up to long miles and changing weather conditions, even when the bike is fully loaded with gear.

The dual-compound construction on the Angel GT front and rear gives riders a combination of durability and wetweather performance. The tread pattern furthers stability in the wet, with excellent drainage to ensure improved grip.

The Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tire is an ideal performance option, and it has smaller front fitments to suit a range of lightweight bikes. As a supersport tire designed for

the street, the Diablo Rosso IV gives riders an advantage in handling, and provides great feedback to keep things predictable and comfortable. Even at full lean through the corners, the tire has excellent grip.

The structure of the Diablo Rosso IV is derived from Pirelli’s experience in WSBK, so it has the heart of a race tire. At the same time, it meets street riders’ needs by providing outstanding performance in wet conditions. The tires are multi-compound and include a high amount of silica for chemical grip.

Lightweight riders who want to go further in the performance category can opt for Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tires. This tire is street legal but capable of fast laps around the track.

The Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tire is a more aggressive version of the Diablo Rosso IV, providing outstanding grip, handling and performance consistency. The tread design is slicker to improve grip in dry conditions, and the shoulders are especially slick for cornering capability, thanks to a 100 percent Carbon Black racing-derived compound on the rear shoulder.

At the same time, the dual-compound construction includes a full silica compound in the center, which helps with grip in cold or wet conditions. The multi-radius profile is designed for quick direction changes and precise cornering. ■

TLightweight Lighting

Sleek Lighting Solutions for Smaller Bikes

he lights that look right at home on a big Touring bike might be a bit out of place on a lightweight motorcycle. Luckily for the lightweight crowd, the new Seat Bolt Mounted Running and Brake Light from Custom Dynamics is a compact option that looks great on virtually any machine.

To make it even better, the seat bolt light is available in two universal fitments that will work seamlessly with most metric bikes. These fitments include either a red lens or a smoked lens, and the aggressive styling is paired with a gloss black housing for a sleek performance look.

Like most of the lights from Custom Dynamics, the seat bolt light is a plug-and-play 12V option for quick and easy installation. Just pop off the seat, plug in the wiring harness, and put the lights in place.

The six high-intensity dual-mode red LEDs enhance visibility from the rear, and there are auxiliary running and brake light functions. That visibility comes from a variety of angles, too: the seat bolt mounting position means the light is visible even if the front wheel is up in the air.

Lightweight bikes often face a bigger hurdle than their larger counterparts when it comes to being seen on the road. Small but effective lighting solutions like the seat bolt light are an upgrade that can make a big impact.

“Riders are becoming more aware of how critical visibility is, especially on smaller bikes that can be harder to see in traffic,” says Custom Dynamics Chief Sales Officer Rob Bluma. “There’s a growing trend toward solutions that are easy to install, but deliver a major impact in terms of safety and on-road presence.”

Riders who want even more of a lighting upgrade can pair the seat bolt light with the Magic Strobes Brake Light Flasher. The plug-and-play module turns the brake light into a customizable part. A dial allows the rider to select from 10 different brake flash and strobe patterns.

Custom Dynamics has fitments for a variety of smaller Honda motorcycles, including the Honda Grom and the Honda Rebel 300 and 500. Plus, there’s a universal fitment that allows the Magic Strobes Brake Light Flasher to be used with any three-wire, 12V DC taillight system.

“At Custom Dynamics, we approach the lightweight motorcycle segment with the same performance-driven mindset as any other category, but with a focus on compact, efficient, and highly adaptable designs,” says Bluma. ■

Rebel With Rumble Slip-On Attitude for Honda Cruisers

Honda’s Rebel 500 and Rebel 1100 have plenty of pull with riders who want cruiser style without overcomplicating the ride. One is light, approachable and easy to make your own. The other brings more displacement to the same strippeddown platform. Together, they give dealers a pair of popular Honda cruisers with clear upgrade potential.

For customers looking to personalize those bikes with more style and attitude, Vance & Hines offers Upsweep slip-on exhausts for both Rebel models. The systems sharpen the bikes’ look while delivering the deeper exhaust note many cruiser riders want from the start.

“The Honda Rebel platform is a gateway to the thrills of riding; the Upsweep Slip-On is just that for the Vance & Hines lineup as well,” says Robert Martinez, Vance & Hines Sales Manager. “It’s simple slip-on construction, sinister black styling, and enhanced sound/performance ushers the rider into what Vance & Hines is all about – sound, style and performance.”

The Honda Rebel 500 *(EMIS Code 1)Upsweep Slip-On is built to integrate with the factory head pipe and transition heat shield, making it a straightforward upgrade option for dealers and riders alike. The tapered cone muffler design gives the middleweight cruiser a more aggressive stance without straying too far from the Rebel’s minimalist styling.

Finished in matte black ceramic with an Eliminator-style end cap, the slip-on adds a subtle custom touch that fits the Rebel platform well. Additional details include a laserengraved riveted badge along with a perforated baffle wrapped in fiberglass.

The Rebel 500 Upsweep Slip-On is also a 50-state emissions-compliant pipe for those models, making it an easy option for dealers in emissions-regulated markets.

Vance & Hines carries the same design language over to the Rebel 1100 *(EMIS Code 3)Upsweep Slip-On. Designed for Honda’s larger-displacement Rebel, the system uses a tapered cone muffler paired with a matte black ceramic finish for a clean, understated look.

Constructed from mild steel, the Rebel 1100 pipe also features a perforated baffle with fiberglass wrap along with a laser-engraved riveted badge. The result is an exhaust that complements the Rebel’s factory styling while giving customers another way to separate their bike from the crowd.

The Rebel lineup casts a wide net. Newer riders like the easygoing feel. Experienced customers like the lighter, stripped-down platform. For dealers, that makes the Rebel 500 and Rebel 1100 a strong fit for simple upgrades that add sound and style without crowding the bike’s clean cruiser character.

The Upsweep systems from Vance & Hines give Rebel riders a simple way to add personality while keeping the clean, compact feel that made the bikes popular in the first place. ■

More Grip, Less Slip Clutch

Upgrades for Lightweight

Motorcycles

Smaller-displacement motorcycles are doing a lot more than easing new riders into the sport. For street, Dual Sport and lightweight performance use, today’s 300cc and 400cc bikes give riders a strong mix of value, agility and fun. That also means customers are looking for replacement and upgrade parts that match how these bikes are being ridden.

“We developed these clutch kits to give 300cc and 400cc riders the same level of performance, feel and durability that Barnett is known for across all segments.”

Sure, the smaller motors on these motorcycles make less horsepower, but they still demand smooth and consistent performance. Barnett used its skill and experience with high-horsepower engines to craft clutches that perform on today’s affordable single- and twin-cylinder machines.

Barnett’s latest clutch kits give smaller-displacement motorcycles tempered steel drive plates, heavy-duty springs and friction materials built for smooth engagement and consistent power transfer.

The steel drive plates are tempered to improve wear resistance and toughness. They also go through a vibratory deburring process and quality check for flatness, helping increase durability and service life.

Barnett pairs those plates with friction materials such as K22 Kevlar or C22 carbon-based friction fibers. These materials deliver smooth, consistent engagement and improved grip under load, helping provide efficient power transfer and steady clutch performance.

To increase torque capacity and reduce slippage during aggressive riding, the clutch kits include heavy-duty steel springs that are shot-peened and heat-treated for durability. These springs help ensure predictable clutch feel, smooth power transfer and better rider control.

Barnett performs rigorous testing on each clutch kit to make sure it can withstand high-rpm conditions and frequent shifting. That matters no matter where customers ride, or what size engine the bike has.

Barnett designed its latest clutch kits to meet those demands, giving riders on smaller and lighter motorcycles clutch components built for smooth engagement, improved grip under load and day-to-day durability.

“Smaller displacement bikes today are not just entry-level commuter bikes. Many of them are high-revving, performance-driven machines,” says Chris Taylor at Barnett.

For 78 years, Barnett has built its name on performance and reliability in the motorcycle industry. With manufacturing in the USA, Barnett produces clutch components, cables and control systems trusted by riders and racers worldwide. ■

Right-Size Chains

Options for Vintage and Small-CC Bikes

RK has chain options for street, off-road, adventure and racing use, but not every customer need fits neatly into those main categories. Some riders need a chain for a very specific application, whether they are restoring a vintage motorcycle or upgrading a small-displacement machine.

That is where two niche RK chains come in. The SV530UWR Sealed Narrow Vintage Specific Chain is designed for vintage motorcycles that require a narrow-clearance 530 chain, while the GB420MRU Sealed Lightweight Performance Chain is built for small-displacement bikes such as the Honda Grom and Monkey.

“RK’s U-ring and UW-ring chains are ideal for riders looking for the long wear life of O-rings, but with a narrower chain width and less drag,” says RK Sales and Marketing Manager Farrah Bauer.

For vintage applications, chain width can be a key fitment issue. Some older motorcycles were built around extremely narrow 530 non-sealed chains, and many current sealed options can be too wide for the available clearance. RK’s SV530UWR answers that need with a sealed 530 chain that has a maximum width of 22.70mm.

That narrow build makes the SV530UWR ideal for British bikes such as Norton and Triumph models as well as 1970s Honda models including the CB750 and CL450. For dealers helping customers keep vintage motorcycles on the road, that combination of narrow fitment and sealed-chain function gives them a specific answer for a specific need.

RK also designed the SV530UWR with the look of a vintage bike in mind. The chain features bright silver inner and outer side plates along with silver pins and rollers, giving it a clean finish that complements a classic motorcycle build.

The SV530UWR uses RK’s UW seals, which help reduce friction and improve chain wear life when compared to non-sealed chains. RK notes that the chain is lighter than most other sealed 530 chains, giving vintage riders a sealed-chain option without moving away from the narrow fitment many older bikes require.

RK’s second niche option, the GB420MRU, targets a different customer. This lightweight, low-friction sealed U-ring 420 pitch chain is designed for small-displacement motorcycles such as the Honda Grom, Honda Monkey and other small-cc bikes.

The GB420MRU uses RK’s proprietary Ultra-Thin Seal U-rings. The seal thickness is less than 50 percent of the most common O-ring seal, which allows RK to build a sealed chain with the weight of a non-sealed chain. It also features RK’s Black Scale finish, with black inner and outer side plates paired with gold pins and gold rollers for a sharp custom look. ■

Protection in Motion Reflex Helmets and

Ascend Goggles

Only a fraction of a second can make a world of difference in motocross. It can be the difference between winning and finishing second, but it can also be the difference between riding it out and hitting the dirt.

Riders need protection when things go wrong. They also need gear that helps them stay focused before that happens. With its latest Reflex helmets and Ascend goggles, THOR MX addresses both sides of that equation: impact protection and the clear vision, comfort and focus riders need to make the next move.

THOR engineers approach rider protection as a system, rather than simply a mix of separate components.

Firsthand experience matters when it comes to understanding what riders see, hear and feel on the track and trails, and how that translates to what happens on the bike. That rider-direct insight, along with THOR’s connection to athletes, has helped shape the brand’s latest hardgoods lineup, including Reflex helmets.

“We are really excited for the technical advancements of THOR’s hardgoods collection in recent years,” says Josh Shorter, Global Brand Director. “On the helmet side, the Reflex Sport has a classic look with clean lines, balance and intake and exhaust ports, almost like a muscle car layout.”

As strong as the Reflex looks on the outside, its internal technology is where the helmet does its hardest work.

THOR’s Reflex helmet and Ascend goggles work as part of a system-minded hardgoods lineup, giving motocross riders impactmanagement technology, clear vision, comfort and focus for hard laps.

Shorter notes that the Reflex uses two key materials for enhanced performance: a new MIPS Integra TX liner and high-tech Koroyd material.

Standard MIPS helmet systems use a separate plastic liner under the padding. MIPS Integra TX takes a more integrated approach, building a thin, low-friction layer directly into the comfort padding. That design helps maintain the helmet’s fit and feel while reducing the amount of rotational force transferred to the rider in the event of impact.

Koroyd works deeper in the helmet’s EPS impact liner. Its thin copolymer tubes are welded into a honeycomb-like structure designed to crush on impact, helping absorb energy while allowing air to move through the helmet. For riders, that means the Reflex pairs impact-management technology with the airflow and comfort needed for long motos, hot days and hard laps.

Those modern materials sit inside the clean, balanced shell design of the Reflex helmet. Sleek lines meet generous ventilation to help control moisture and provide comfort. Customers can choose between carbon or composite shell construction to match their riding use, performance goals and budget. Carbon versions are available in two designs, while composite options span five other looks.

ASCEND GOGGLES

Helmets are designed to do their job when the “what if?” happens. THOR’s Ascend goggles take that same systemminded approach to another key piece of protection by helping riders see clearly and stay focused before that moment arrives.

Goggles have often been treated as style pieces that keep dirt out of a rider’s eyes. Ascend goggles take a broader view of function, with an emphasis on field of view, clarity, comfort, convenience, strength, and style.

“Advancing the eyewear side, the new Ascend goggle screams style and performance at first look, while also hosting some solid technical attributes,” says Shorter.

The Ascend goggle starts with an injected, pre-curved polycarbonate lens and robust ventilation, but its outrigger system does much of the heavy lifting. The outriggers help seat the goggle frame deeper and more securely into the helmet, serve as the retention system for the injected lens and create the snap-fit setup for the reversible strap. Riders get a secure fit, quick lens function and two strap looks in one goggle.

That reversible strap gives riders another way to dial in the look of their kit. The snap-fit strap system makes it easy to pop the strap out, flip it and pop it back in. Ascend goggles also feature an injection-molded polycarbonate lens for optical clarity and a wide field of view. Riders can swap tinted lenses for clear ones with Ascend’s quickchange, push-button lens retention system.

For dealers, the Ascend goggles are more than an add-on sale. They give riders another way to improve vision, comfort and focus on the bike. Good goggles help riders look ahead, read the terrain and prepare for the next move.

THOR’s evolving hardgoods lineup gives dealers a systemminded protection story to share with customers, from helmets to goggles. ■

Perfectly Balanced

A Sport-Touring Tire for Performance, Longevity

Some riders are happy to take the long way around at a leisurely pace. Sport-Touring riders, on the other hand, want to put on the miles, while also enjoying the performance aspects of their motorcycles. That means their tires have to deliver in both categories, providing the right blend of longevity and sportiness. Avon found that right combination and put it into the Spirit ST Sport-Touring tire.

Of all the riding styles out there, Sport-Touring might be one of the trickiest when it comes to giving riders everything they want in a tire. Whether it’s a day trip of canyon carving or a multi-day adventure on everything from Interstates to twisty roads, the bike’s tires have to perform without sacrificing longevity.

Avon Tyres packed a lot of features into the ultra-highperformance Sport ST tire, which has a mix of proprietary technologies, special compounds and design cues to give outstanding grip in the corners and longevity on those long, straight stretches of road.

“The Avon Spirit ST is perfect for motorcyclists who want the stickiness of a sportbike tire with the ride of a Touring tire,” says Don Argento, Manager Motorcycle Sales & Marketing North America for Avon Tyres.

Avon’s 3D Sipes are interlocking three-dimensional points hidden in the sipes, and this invisible feature can be felt in a lot of the tire’s characteristics. 3D Sipes improve stability and grip, limit tread flex and allow the tire to warm up quickly.

A high amount of silica in the compounds also increases warm-up time, especially in wet or cold weather. Plus, that silica works alongside Avon’s polymer technology to give riders excellent traction and handling, even in the wet.

The multi-compound rear tire is designed to maximize longevity while also providing the level of grip and stability that Sport-Touring riders want in the corners.

The Spirit ST is a versatile tire for those riders who want the best of both worlds when it comes to distance and performance, but it’s also versatile when it comes to the number of models it pairs with. Avon offers the Spirit ST tire in 15 sizes, and that covers a broad range of fitments. Lightweight Sport-Touring models ideal for shorter getaways as well as heavyweight, fully-loaded bikes ready for a long trip can both take advantage of the Spirit ST tire’s characteristics. ■

Straight from the Screen Helmet Graphics from

Movies and Games

Motorcycle riders can now channel their favorite movie and game characters, and it’s all part of gearing up for the ride. HJC has partnered with companies like Marvel, Universal and Call of Duty to give riders helmets right out of their favorite movie and game franchises.

“Back in 2015, when we first partnered with Marvel, there were doubts; some thought no serious adult would ever wear a superhero helmet,” says George Hong, President, HJC America. “We decided to challenge that idea and released our first Spider-Man and Venom helmets. The response was immediate and overwhelming. Riders weren’t just interested, they were excited. Many had been waiting for something like this.”

It wasn’t just riders who were interested, though. HJC began to get interesting sales data from these special graphics: collectors were buying the helmets, too. Not only that, but some of those enthusiasts went on to learn how to ride themselves. As it turns out, one entry to motorcycling can be through someone’s favorite game or movie franchise.

“My philosophy is that anything we can do to bring more people to our sport, even better,” Hong says.

The high-performance RPHA 12 helmet has a list of licensed graphics available for riders and franchise fans

alike, ranging from whimsical to sinister. On the fun end of things, fans of Toothless can hit the road with an RPHA 12 helmet that turns a rider into the little dragon himself. For those with a preference for darker characters, there’s an RPHA 12 Venom helmet that shows off plenty of teeth and menace. There’s an Anti-Venom option, as well. Call of Duty Zombies players tend to gravitate to the RPHA 12 Mister Peeks helmet, which depicts the deranged stuffed bunny in detail.

“Interestingly, we discovered a clear trend: riders often gravitate more toward the villains than the heroes,” notes Hong. “That insight, along with feedback and ideas from our customers, pushed us to expand even further, into gaming, animation, energy drinks, movies, toys and beyond.”

But, for those riders who do prefer the heroes, the HJC F100 Ant-Man modular helmet looks like a prop straight out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

HJC’s V10 helmet also has an array of graphics options, including the fun, impossible-to-miss Minions option. The bright-yellow helmet features a single Minion eye, right on top.

Of course, some riders prefer reality to fantasy, which is why HJC also offers racing-focused graphics. The RPHA 12 is available as a Fabio Quartararo replica, and the RPHA 12 Red Bull Austin II helmet commemorates the Grand Prix of the Americas in Texas. ■

Air Control

Windshield Comfort for Gold Wing Riders

Klock Werks’ Flare® windshield traces its roots to a simple idea: Brian Klock holding his arm out of a truck window to study airflow. What followed was years of testing, development and record-setting Bagger work that helped turn Flare into a key comfort upgrade for riders, including Honda Gold Wing customers.

Baggers are a go-to choice for longdistance touring in the V-Twin world, but Honda Gold Wings have long made their case with comfort, technology and road-trip-ready amenities. For Parts dealers, that creates a clear upgrade opportunity; helping Gold Wing customers fine-tune an already capable Touring bike with a windshield designed to better manage airflow.

Available for 2001-2017 and 2018-2025 model generations, Flare windshields for Honda Gold Wings direct air over and around riders and passengers for a smoother ride. The design features distinct hips at the outer edge and a strategic flip at the top to help manage air movement and keep the front end planted at highway speeds.

Klock Werks offers Flare windshields in more than one height, helping customers use the company’s online size

guide to find the right fit. Size plays a key role in how a Flare windshield manages air, so Klock Werks develops multiple heights for each model to suit a wide range of riders.

“For 2018-2025 Gold Wing models, we added a 20¼inch height option boasting an extra inch on the lower section,” says Brian Klock, President of Klock Werks. “In testing, we found this increased the effectiveness and protection while maintaining the same easy-to-see-over design and providing ideal performance within the stock adjustability parameters.”

Each Flare windshield is made of Lexan® polycarbonate with FMR hard coating for added durability. Color options include clear, tint and dark smoke for 2001-2017 Gold Wings and tint and dark smoke for 2018-2025 models.

The Flare lineup also includes options for Honda’s stripped-down, performance-minded Gold Wing cousin, the F6B. For customers who use those bikes for shorter rides, weekend runs or daily trips, a Flare windshield offers another way to refine comfort and airflow.

Whether customers are riding to work or heading out for a weekend adventure, Flare windshields give Parts dealers a clear upgrade to discuss with Honda Gold Wing and F6B riders. ■

The tire’s 1-inch tread depth gives the M1 Evil its aggressive look, but it also provides the bite riders need when the ground gets loose, rough or unpredictable. For customers moving between wooded trails, hardpack and mixed terrain, the M1 Evil gives dealers a proven tire option with broad appeal.

For dealers, the return of the M1 Evil brings back a familiar, easy-to-discuss product that has a strong history

Ledford says the tire’s range is a big part of its appeal, especially for dealers serving both sport and utility UTV customers. The same demand is echoed by shops that have seen the M1 Evil become a familiar request from customers.

“That is our #1 selling tire here at the shop,” says Jeff Morgan at Swampfox Motorsports in Beckley, West Virginia. “I know our customers will be glad to see we finally have them back in stock.”

Dealer feedback has helped keep the M1 Evil in demand, with shops pointing to its long wear, trail manners and ability to handle hardpack, mixed terrain and some mud. That broad use case is part of what makes the tire’s return an important one for AMS.

“I’m fired up to see the M1 Evil back in our tire lineup,” says Dylan Titus, AMS Brand Manager. “This is one of the tires that dealers and customers ask me about while I’m out visiting shops. The M1 Evil delivers the performance, durability, and value that riders trust.” ■

WMaintaining Summer Fun

PWC Oil and Additives

ith summer in full swing, that means dealers have to be ready for customers who need personal watercraft maintenance. Stocking up on LIQUI MOLY products specifically designed for the PWC market is one step in that process. From a simple oil change to additives that make sure engines stay clean and run efficiently, LIQUI MOLY has a host of solutions to help customers enjoy summer on the water.

LIQUI MOLY Marine PWC 10W-40 oil is specially designed for use in personal watercraft, providing excellent wear

protection for high-performance engines while also standing up to the challenges of a marine environment. The oil carries the required API SP and JASO MA2 approvals, ensuring compatibility with modern PWC engines and wet clutch systems. By using the correct approved oil, customers can be confident they are not putting their factory warranty at risk.

“We go to the extent of having tested and approved PWC oil,” says LIQUI MOLY USA’s Jason Hess. “Making sure the oil meets the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) standard is an important part of the process.

Personal watercraft engines operate in demanding, high-moisture environments, so we engineered this oil specifically to provide the protection, performance and durability needed for marine applications. At LIQUI MOLY, we go the extra distance to develop an oil that is purpose-built for the unique conditions watercraft face on the water.”

The LIQUI MOLY PWC 10W-40 oil is fully synthetic, providing a high level of lubrication, engine cleanliness and friction values for wet clutches. And, since it comes in 1-liter, 4-liter, and 20-liter sizes, there are choices for customers and dealers alike. The 20-liter size is ideal to have on hand in a service shop, and its larger size means a better profit margin.

In addition to an oil change, getting a PWC ready for summer should also include treating the fuel system with LIQUI MOLY Marine 4T Shooter. This fuel additive helps clean the fuel system and prevent future deposits, resulting in improved combustion and overall engine performance. One 200ml bottle will treat 13-18 gallons of fuel, making it a convenient product to have on hand for that extra bit of performance.

When summer comes to an end, it’s time to use the LIQUI MOLY Marine Fuel Stabilizer Additive. It is designed to prevent fuel oxidation and degradation during storage, so when it’s time to get out on the water again the next year, the fuel system will be in great shape. Ideal for both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, this additive works with the organic content in gasoline to stabilize the fuel.

“When you’re pulling it out of the water, you’ll run that in the last tank of gas, and it leaves a coating in the whole system,” says Hess. ■

A Road-Racing E-commerce Expert

SPORTBIKE TRACK GEAR: SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN

Sportbike Track Gear did not start with a warehouse, a showroom or a national customer base of road racers.

It started in 2006 as a trackside side gig, built by Cadillac technician Brian Van through a 50-50 business venture with Sportbike Track Time founders Monte Lutz and Bonnie Strawser. Nearly 20 years later, Van’s Shelby Township, Michigan, business carries a consistent $1 millionplus in product sourced from Parts Unlimited.

“We were just going to sell go-fast stuff trackside at the events to make a little extra money as a side gig,” Brian explains. “Everyone wins - Monte makes a little extra money, I make a little extra to help my tire budget for racing, and the customers of the track-day company get a little better service.”

At the time the team was operating out of Van’s house while he was still working as an automotive technician, with product filling the family’s living space as STG began to grow.

In the early days, STG worked with smaller suppliers while Van and his partners learned the business. They knew about Parts Unlimited, but as a new company, they were cautious about placing the large opening order needed to get started.

While he was still working at the Cadillac dealership, Van taught himself to code so he could reach the growing E-commerce market. How long did that take?

“You’d be amazed what you can accomplish when you’re under pressure,” he says. “When I saw potential with this new business and left the dealership, it was obviously a big risk. You have kids, you have a wife … you need to make it work.”

lac mechanic, I witnessed him teach himself to code his own website, create industry relationships, and explode into the market with product review videos that captured the attention of the track-day/road-racing community like no one had done previously.”

STG became a Parts Unlimited dealer in 2007. “It’s funny, I was so concerned about the size of that initial order, but now I place an order bigger than that from Parts every day,” Brian reflects with a chuckle.

BUILDING TRUST ONLINE

STG’s early growth came from more than stocking the right parts. Van also understood that online customers wanted confidence before they clicked buy, especially when they were shopping for helmets, apparel and race-focused gear they could not try out in person.

That blend of pressure, self-taught skill and trackside credibility helped STG find its footing in a market that was still learning how much E-commerce could change the way riders researched and bought gear.

“When I met Brian Van, we were both volunteer staff with Sportbike Track Time,” explains Parts Unlimited National Sales Manager Rob Oliva. “While his day job was as a Cadil-

Van uses online advertising, social media and word of mouth to promote STG. The business also has a 4.9 Google rating with more than 8,000 reviews. Van says the reason is simple: The team cares about the customer’s ride.

“The box-stock answer is that I have a great team here. We do a great job because we actually care,” he says. “We want our customers to have a good experience. We are here to facilitate their fun time. We’re basically selling entertainment. People work hard for this. This is how they are spending their free time. So, we take it very seriously.”

Van’s YouTube channel has become one of STG’s most important tools, with about 146,000 subscribers and a steady audience for product reviews, install videos and shop-floor commentary. The first review went live Nov. 1, 2007, and the goal from the beginning was to help riders make more informed buying decisions before investing in gear or parts.

That direct approach has also shaped some of the channel’s more offbeat content. Several years ago, Van launched

Father and son Max (left) and Brian Van (right) share more than a business. Their time at the track, from track days to MotoAmerica racing, keeps STG tied to rider needs.

a recurring video series called “You Can’t Make This Sh*t Up,” focused on questionable return attempts and unusual customer-service situations. The tone is blunt and unscripted, and the videos have become some of the channel’s mostwatched posts.

For Van, the series is not about taking shots at the broad STG customer base. He says the vast majority of customers are great to work with. Instead, the videos reflect the small slice of online retail that most dealers recognize all too well – the odd returns, strange claims and difficult situations that come with selling to riders across the country.

THE BUSINESS

That online reach is backed by a real footprint in Shelby Township.

It did not take long for STG to outgrow Van’s garage. The team moved into a small suite in a business park in the northern suburb of Detroit. Today, STG is still in the same building, but the business now occupies two-thirds of the suites and an attached 10,000-square-foot warehouse that houses approximately $1.3 million in product.

“We also have a showroom,” Brian says. “It’s not huge, because that’s not the focus of our business, but it is merchandized, we have a staff member there, a point-of-sale system, all of those things.”

That inventory reflects STG’s core customer base. The business serves road racers across the country, and that specialty shapes what fills the warehouse.

“We definitely specialize in road-racing - apparel, airbags, helmets, tires, tire warmers, stands, and things like that,” Brian says. “We sell a lot of high-end helmets. Our ratio of high-end helmets to entry-level helmets is going to be 180 degrees different than what you’ll see at your average brick-and-mortar dealership. We obviously also sell a large number of affordable helmets, but we sell a lot of expensive helmets.

“We also sell a lot of road-race suits. We have literally hundreds of leather suits hanging up in the warehouse right now. Not 30, not 10, not 5 … hundreds. There is not a day that goes by where we’re not selling multiple road-race suits.”

The Sportbike Track Gear team, from left: Clark Cooley, Andrew Burry, Jimmy Fox, Sophia Van, Marcine Van, Leia Van (shop dog), Max Van, Brian Van, Mike Bryan, Alec Lossing, Tina Reid, Josh Hall, Jeff Jordan, Cheryl Walker, and Kris Westley.
Behind STG’s race-focused product mix is real track experience, including Max Van’s time in MotoAmerica Junior Cup and SuperSport competition.

Inside STG’s garage-style shop space, the business’s racing roots are easy to see. The setup reinforces the hands-on product knowledge behind its online sales model.

Racers are a focused niche within motorcycling, and Van knows that building an E-commerce business around that audience means serving a very specific kind of customer. STG has grown by leaning into that specialty, but the next step is broadening its reach without losing the race-focused identity that built the company.

“Correct,” Brian responds. “We’ve grown quite a bit, but we’re still always focused on continuing growth. To that end, we’ve really started to branch out to try to reach more street riders than previously.”

FAMILY-OWNED AND OPERATED

“I’m a big family guy. My family provides me with all of my motivation,” Brian says.

For Van, that starts with his wife, Marcine, and their two kids, Max and Sophia. Marcine works part time in STG’s accounting department, and she and Brian own 75% of the company. The remaining 25% belongs to Jimmy Fox, a longtime employee and computer expert who became a partner in the business. Van is quick to point out that the family story is only part of STG’s larger team, which also includes employees like Kris Westley, Cheryl Walker, Rick V, Alec Lossing, Andrew Burry and many more.

Max has grown up with one foot in the business and the other at the racetrack. By middle school, he was helping part time in the warehouse, learning how the business served customers and riding on the racetrack with his dad.

When COVID-19 closed schools in 2020, that part-time role became more serious.

“The kid loves motorcycles,” Brian notes, “being one of the lucky ones because of what I was doing, so he went from working part-time to full-time while still doing [school online].”

As Max became more committed to racing, the family started looking at what the next step could be. When he was old enough to enter MotoAmerica’s Junior Cup, they jumped in, eventually moving to homeschooling so he could keep racing. Over the next several years, Max was coached by Josh Hayes, and the family spent five years racing full time. Last year, Max was part of the Factory M4 Ecstar Suzuki SuperSport team.

“A lot of times, when you bring your kid into your business, it doesn’t work out great. This is the 180 of that. We have some amazing long-term employees here, and this kid – since 2020 – has earned all of their respect,” Van says. “I mean, he cleans toilets, he runs the sales department, he sees the opportunity and he has grabbed on to it.

Max’s racing also gave him credibility with STG customers. Riders who saw him competing in MotoAmerica’s Junior Cup and SuperSport classes began to know him as more than Brian’s son or an STG employee. For some customers, asking for Max Van became part of the buying experience.

“He and I are super close. I’m his dad, I’m his boss, I’m his riding buddy,” he says. “I get to spend a tremendous amount of time with my kid.

Van’s daughter Sophia is beginning to see a place for herself in the business, too. She still has some high school left, but after watching Max build his own role at STG, her plans have shifted from joining a college dance team to following a similar path into the company. Van says she will start at the bottom like everyone else, but her drive has him optimistic about what comes next.

For Van, having family so close to the business adds another layer to the work. “There are not enough words to describe how much better it makes all of this,” Brian says.

FINDING A PARTNER IN PARTS UNLIMITED

That mix of family, staff and product focus is also supported by STG’s long-running relationship with Parts Unlimited, which has been part of STG’s growth since 2007. Van says the distributor plays a key role in helping the business support its customers.

“Parts Unlimited is hands down the best supplier, and that’s for a number of reasons,” Van says. “One, they’re super reliable. Two, inventory depth - when Parts Unlimited gets involved in something, you can count on them to have the inventory to support it.”

That support also comes through the local sales rep relationship. STG works directly with Parts Unlimited rep Steve Wood, who is in the shop weekly and stays in close contact with STG General Manager Kris Westley. Van says Wood helps with stocking orders, tracks down order issues and keeps the team aware of new products they might not have caught on their own.

“I first started working with STG in 2007 when we first got them set up. Brian was always very enthusiastic about his business, and his passion for motorcycles and snowmobiles runs deep,” Wood says. “He was one of the early adopters to start doing video reviews of products on his own website and on YouTube - which definitely helped him build a following of customers throughout the country. Brian realized early on that getting people to his website to make purchases was much more advantageous than getting people to buy products through third party platforms.”

Wood says STG’s commitment to keeping product on hand has helped make the relationship strong. The business backs its E-commerce focus with real inventory, giving customers another reason to trust that STG can support the gear and parts it sells. For Wood, that approach reflects the same steady commitment he has seen from Van since STG first came on with Parts Unlimited.

Oliva, Parts Unlimited’s National Sales Manager, sees that same consistency in the way Van has built the business.

“Brian has continued to stay true to the roots of his business. He always tells you what he believes, and stands by his word,” Oliva says. “He has continued to lead his business while raising a family that is now also growing into roles in the company. I’m sure it would be most fathers’ dreams to be able to share a company they built with their children and have them continue the legacy, and I know Brian takes great pride in their involvement.”

A staffed showroom gives STG another way to support riders while showcasing Parts Unlimited products in a clean retail setting.

Lightweight Looks Ventilated

Off-Road Gear for Hot

Days

The term “lightweight” is used a lot when talking about motorcycle models, but lightweight motocross gear deserves its time in the spotlight, too. For more than 25 years, Moose Offroad’s Sahara gear has been a lightweight, ventilated solution for hot-weather riding. Now, the popular line has new colorways – Blue/Orange/Red/Yellow and Black/Red/White/ Yellow – for riders to choose from.

Jared Krueger. “Riders appreciate being able to stay cooler without giving up performance or mobility.”

Stretch panels in key areas, particularly in the pants, keep the Sahara gear comfortable, but there are also extra layers in high-wear areas, like full-grain leather panels on the inner knees. That blend of comfort and durability is a must for Moose Offroad’s stable of riders.

The Sahara jersey and pants are both constructed from lightweight polyester mesh panels, which means riders get plenty of airflow to stay cool on hot days. At the same time, the gear is cut to keep it from flapping in the wind. Riders rave about the way the Sahara gear helps them stay cool, but it’s about a lot more than regulating body temperature.

“We also hear that the lightweight mesh construction and athletic fit contribute to less fatigue over time, especially in high temperatures where heavier gear can become a burden,” says Moose Offroad General Manager

“Many of our top GNCC racers gravitate to our Sahara gear in hot riding conditions,” notes Krueger. “Our professional and amateur riders put the gear through the test as they are racing for two to three hours straight and need something they can count on to get them to the finish line.”

Offroad riding, especially in a competitive environment, can be hard work. And, on hot days, riders need to stay cool even while riding hard. Otherwise, mental and physical fatigue can become a big problem. It’s bad enough when a rider isn’t able to perform at their best, but dehydration, heat exhaustion or even heat stroke are risks, too.

“The Sahara line was specifically designed and developed for these conditions,” Krueger says. “It’s built around lightweight, ventilated polyester mesh materials designed to maximize airflow across the body. This increased airflow helps dissipate heat and moisture, allowing riders to stay cooler even in demanding environments like desert races, tight woods or humid climates.”

Moose Offroad even offers a Sahara sock made from a quick-drying Coolmax polyester for premium moisture-wicking control. Built-in vents add to the comfort, so feet stay cool, too.

Krueger sums it up by saying, “Overall, Sahara positions itself as a high-performance hot-weather solution that delivers top-level ventilation without the premium price tag, making it a go-to choice for riders who need to stay cool without overspending.” ■

All Set for Summer UTV Upgrades for the Riding Season

With summer work and play on the horizon, UTV owners are probably looking at upgrades to get their vehicle ready for the upcoming riding season. Moose Offroad has plenty of choices to transform UTVs, including glass windshields, an upper winch mount, and winches.

Moose Offroad’s UTV glass windshields take driving a UTV to a new level by providing a strong barrier between the cab and the world outside, whether that’s wind, rain or the hazards of the trail.

The windshield is made from a DOTapproved, scratch-resistant glass that is held in place by a powder-coated metal frame. Thanks to the wrap-around design and model-specific rubber gasket, this windshield seals into place after it’s been mounted to the A-pillars. That means wind and rain aren’t going to sneak through any gaps.

At the same time, ventilation is a must when the weather gets warm. Dual sliding vents built into the windshield assembly allow the airflow to be adjusted to keep things comfortable inside the cab.

“As every UTV owner knows, the small details make a big difference,” says Moose Offroad General Manager Jared Krueger. “Moose Offroad is committed to giving UTV owners choices that make riding more comfortable and practical.”

Having a winch on board is always a good idea, and Moose Offroad’s upper winch mount allows one to be mounted to the top bar. A winch is only as good as the mount that secures it to the UTV, and this one is a heavy-duty option that’s strong enough to handle every winching job.

The mounting plates and winch brackets are fabricated from thick carbon steel, while the tube section is made from 2-inch square carbon steel. The joints are all MIG

Moose Offroad’s UTV glass windshields use DOT-approved, scratchresistant glass, a powdercoated metal frame and dual sliding vents to help keep airflow and cab comfort dialed in.

pulse welded to further support stability and durability. On top of all that, a matte black powder coat guards the winch mount from the elements and corrosion.

Once the upper winch mount is in place, it’s time for a winch. Moose Offroad offers three different Aggro winches, depending on the amount of desired pulling strength. A customer can choose from 2,500, 3,500 or 4,500 pounds of strength.

All three winches feature IP67 waterproof sealing and a black powder coat, ensuring that everything is perfectly sealed against water and other contaminants. The 50-foot rope is available in both a wire and synthetic option, giving riders even more choices. Each winch includes a dash-mounted rocker switch and a remote for easy deployment. ■

Traction, Control & Durability

Built for High-Performance Desert Racing

The desert does not give tires an easy day. Maxxis’ RAZR XT is designed to take on the speed, sharp terrain and mixed conditions of desert racing while giving drivers confident traction and cornering control.

The RAZR XT pairs two high-density steel belts with 8-ply-rated construction to help add strength for harsh desert conditions. A rounded shoulder profile and balanced contact area support precise handling and steady cornering control.

Built for desert racing, the Maxxis RAZR XT uses center blocks, shoulder blocks and lateral tread blocks to deliver traction across mixed, high-speed terrain.

The tread design does its part, too. Optimized center blocks help keep the tire hooked up across varied terrain, while shoulder blocks that extend over the sidewall add traction where riders need it in ruts, rocks and loose sections. Lateral tread blocks provide side bite for cornering. Sharp rocks, deep sand and pointed cacti simply won’t stand a chance.

As one would expect from a desert competition tire, the RAZR XT thrives at speed. Targeting vehicles like the Can-Am Maverick X3, Honda Talon, Kawasaki Teryx H2, Polaris RZR Pro R and Yamaha RMAX, the RAZR XT is available in sizes 30x10R14, 32x10R15 and 33x10R15.

“The RAZR XT was built for one purpose, and that purpose is winning,” says Maxxis Senior Marketing Specialist Chris Meyer.

The race results back that up. Racers and teams including Rodrigo Ampudia, Steve Austin, Cody Bradbury, Kyle Chaney, Proctor Race Group, Dustin Jones, Corbin Leverton, Jeremy McGrath, Wes Miller, GFI Racing, Miller Brothers Racing, Vito Ranuio, and Sierra Romo have used the RAZR XT in races like the Mint 400 and Baja 500. Chaney recently won the Silver State 300 on the tire. The 2026 Mint 400 also showcased the tire’s performance in harsh conditions. Michael McFayden finished second in UTV Pro NA, completing the four-lap race in 9 hours, 24 minutes and 38 seconds aboard his Honda Talon with RAZR XT tires. Todd Zuccone of Evolution Powersports won the UTV Modified class on RAZR XT tires with a 6-hour, 49-minute and 13-second finish in his Can-Am Maverick X3.

“Our Maxxis tires took a pounding and look new after the abuse they took on the brutal Mint400 racecourse,” says Todd Zuccone. “We had zero flats and the grip of the Maxxis RAZR XT was critical in the loose terrain. I am very impressed with the performance and equally impressed with how the tires hold up in race conditions.” ■

Legacy of American-Made Moto Exhaust

Flying Machine Factory is a self-descriptive name for an iconic brand better known simply as FMF, but you might already know that. What you may not know is that referring to FMF as just a brand would be a disservice. It’s a statement of lifestyle, display of craftsmanship, proof of concept, model of family values and a group of passionate people who have helped shape motocross history.

Over 50 years ago with an unwavering love of motorcycles and a never-quit mentality, Donny Emler Sr. started FMF in his garage in Hawthorne, California. Today, FMF is pumping out 2-stroke and 4-stroke exhaust systems in its 100,000-square-foot facility with that same passion, but with a lot more #1 Championship plates on the wall.

Donny Sr. didn’t keep all that horsepower knowledge to himself. He shared it with his son, Donny Emler Jr., also known as Little D. Donny Jr. spent summers helping at the shop before taking on FMF’s racer support program and other marketing efforts, including the company’s wellknown apparel. As FMF grew and continued giving back to the industry, it attracted great people to the company, including Doug Muellner.

Doug has spent more than 25 years with FMF, fully engrained in the product, the brand and what it stands for. Now serving as FMF’s director of sales, Doug is approaching retirement and reflecting on his time there.

The Fatty Exhaust is FMF’s flagship 2-stroke pipe, delivering balanced power across the rpm range through plated steel construction. Available through Parts Unlimited, FMF apparel extends the brand’s moto identity from the bike to everyday wear.

“Coming from the powersports segment in addition to having served as an FMF Product Manager for a distributor, I respected the company, brand and products with high esteem,” says Doug. “Observing the FMF personnel giving it their all to serve the worldwide FMF customer base was inspiring. Becoming a part of the FMF team has been fulfilling, rewarding, challenging, educational, fun –I could go on. I was fortunate to make the acquaintance of so many dealers, distributors, riders and others who all make the Powersports industry so great. What a journey. Thank you FMF!”

With Doug’s departure, Donny Jr. is gearing up to wear the Sales Director hat as well, tapping into his extensive business development and moto community experience. He’d tell you that no matter what bike your customers are riding, there’s an FMF product ready to perform.

The Fatty Exhaust is FMF’s flagship 2-stroke pipe delivering balanced power across all rpms through its plated steel construction, making Fatty the go-to for durability that works for every ride.

Factory 4.1 is the 4-stroke exhaust found on many championship-winning bikes in SuperMotocross. Tuned to maximize power across the RPM range, it gives customers race-proven performance in a blue-anodized titanium design that looks as sharp as it rides. ■

Quality Connection Performance Pegs and Rearsets

The connection between a motorcycle and the rider’s feet is an important one, and Gilles Tooling has engineered foot pegs and rearsets to make sure that connection is both comfortable and stable. Among the available options from Gilles Tooling are 2 ADV footpegs as well as street and track rearsets.

Gilles Tooling is a Tier-1 OEM supplier for a number of brands, which means the company’s products are held to high standards. And, since the R&D, manufacturing, assembly, quality control and sales are all handled in-house, it’s easy for the team at Gilles Tooling to oversee every step of a product’s journey to ensure premium quality.

The R&D department gets a little help from another source, too. “Also, the know-how and feedback given by the teams we are supporting in MotoGP, WorldSBK and many other classes is an important part of the R&D process for our products,” says Gilles Tooling’s Ralf Kahllenberger.

The UF-34 Pro-X and UF-35 Tech-X footpegs for ADV applications are a great example of this dedication to quality and engineering. They are designed with notches that dynamically adapt to a rider’s shifting weight to provide dampening where it’s needed. The rubber bearing between the tread and the joint absorb vibrations for a smoother ride, and the gaps in the body help prevent buildup of dirt or mud.

Gilles Tooling engineered the UF-35 Tech-X footpegs for ADV riders, with a wider footprint, dynamic notches and vibration damping to support comfort and stability.

“ADV products, compared to street products, have to withstand three times the load,” explains Kahllenberger. “That is why those pegs are designed wider compared to track or street parts. Our pegs are larger than OEM products for maximum comfort and riding safety.”

Experience in WSBK led to the FXR2 rearsets. Designed exclusively for use on the track, they provide the right blend of light weight and durability since they are made from a high-strength aluminum. A double ball bearing in both the brake and shift levers provide the smoothness

Designed for track use, Gilles Tooling’s FXR2 rearsets offer light weight, durability and adjustability, plus double ball bearings for smooth brake and shift lever action.

and predictability racers require. Plus, the possible adjustability allows a racer to dial in the right stance.

For sportbike riders who stick to the street or do a mix of street and track riding, the MUE2 rearsets are an excellent performance option. Whether a rider is turning laps on the track or carving canyons, comfort is a must. The MUE2 provides that with adjustable footrest height, shift travel and step length. Like the FXR2 rearsets, the MUE2 is manufactured from a high-strength aluminum to save weight without sacrificing durability.

As Kahllenberger says, “In the end it is all about the details which make a great product.” ■

Going With the Flow An Aerodynamic Helmet for Track and Street

It’s easy to overlook the importance that a rider’s helmet plays in shaving down a lap time or providing a more comfortable ride while at speed. The Alpinestars Supertech R7 (S-R7) helmet is an aerodynamic advantage designed for peak performance on the track and the street.

Alpinestars combined proprietary technologies, precision engineering and the latest in carbon composite construction to create a helmet that has the low-drag, high-performance features a racer needs combined with the comfort and ventilation demanded by street riders.

“The S-R7 blends a perfect combination of performance, protection and everyday comfort and convenience,” says Alpinestars Sales Communications Manager Brent Jaswinski. “From its aggressive, race-inspired profile and aero package – designed for drag reduction and enhanced stability at higher speeds – to its plush interior, wide eye port and fully integrated A-Connect comm unit capability, it not only looks the business, but handles it as well.”

helmet pairs a plush interior with adjustable ventilation and A-Head fitment, giving riders comfort for track days or street

The aerodynamics of the S-R7 shell aren’t just about reducing drag. The shape also provides high-speed stability to reduce neck strain. This integrated spoiler and lateral winglets add to the aerodynamic stability.

The shell, which is ECE 22.06 and DOT certified, is made from a composite of carbon, aramid fiber and fiberglass layers. This combination results in a helmet that is lightweight, but capable of providing a unique blend of safety features, including energy dissipation, radial strength and penetration resistance.

The interior of the S-R7 helmet works in conjunction with that outer shell to provide even more premium protection. The multi-density EPS liner consists of seven pieces in six densities to provide the right level of impact absorption in each area. Alpinestars has a patented EPS surface coating that creates a low-friction slip plane, which reduces rotational acceleration to help decrease the risk of concussion or other brain injuries. There’s also an Emergency Release System for low-risk helmet removal after an incident.

While the S-R7 features a wide range of safety features, comfort was also an important factor in the helmet’s design. Ventilation includes six adjustable intake ports and four exhaust ports, and the patented Alpinestars A-Head

The Alpinestars S-R7 helmet brings track-minded features to street riders, including aerodynamic winglets, wide eye port, hydration tube channel and A-Connect compatibility.

fitment system lets riders fine-tune the helmet’s fit with a micro-adjustable pad connected to the EPS liner. Riders with glasses benefit from channels built into the cheek pads. An integrated hydration tube channel lets riders get a sip on the go.

A big perk for street riders is the S-R7 helmet’s easy integration with the Alpinestars A-Connect Communication System. The helmet is designed to accommodate this add-on, which includes a Mesh 3.0 intercom and premium Harman Kardon speakers. ■

French Imports

Premium Off-Road Parts Reach North America

Off-road riders looking for premium parts have a new option available through Parts Unlimited. The French brand SCAR is now available in North America, offering a robust range of off-road products, including its titanium footpegs and Apex triple clamps.

SCAR started in 2003. It is the offshoot of a small, family-run precision machining company called Le Floch Mécanique Précision. That company began producing aluminum parts for brands like Renthal and Tag Metals. When those contracts ended, SCAR was created to serve an even wider range of offroad customers.

That decision proved to be the right one. SCAR steadily climbed, and Arnaud Le Floch took over as President of the family business when his father retired in 2017. Today the company operates from a 800 m² (about 8,600 square feet) warehouse in western France. Since the start, SCAR’s goal has been to deliver parts that perform at the highest level, using materials that last.

“We started SCAR because we were riders ourselves, and we weren’t satisfied with what was available. That passion is still in every part we make,” says Le Floch. “SCAR may be a new name in North America, but our products have been proven at the highest level of competition for over 20 years.”

SCAR’s titanium footpegs are one of the company’s flagship products, and they can be seen on the bikes of top MXGP and AMA factory teams. The Titanium Gripper Footpeg is machined from aerospace-grade titanium for light weight and strength. There is a 27-teeth option or an 18-teeth design for riding in mud.

The Apex Triple Clamp is another marquee product for customers searching for a premium upgrade. Manufactured in France from 7075-T6 aerospace aluminum, it features high-precision CNC machining, three bar-mount positions and six handlebar adjustment settings.

Titanium fastener kits round out the top sellers. They’re an easy add-on sale and a product that the brand has become synonymous with in the European market. SCAR also offers carbon fiber protection, levers and a growing line of consumable accessories, including grips.

SCAR’s Apex Triple Clamp gives off-road customers a premium upgrade with 7075-T6 aerospace aluminum, high-precision CNC machining and six handlebar adjustment settings.

SCAR’s Titanium Gripper Footpegs are among the brand’s flagship products, giving Parts dealers a premium off-road option machined from aerospacegrade titanium.

SCAR offers an extensive range of parts, a lineup that uses premium materials such as high-grade aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber.

The SCAR name rose to prominence with its involvement in professional racing. The brand has been a partner of race champion Ken Roczen and currently supports a roster of top riders competing in MXGP and across national championships in France and Europe.

American factory teams have already adopted SCAR products, and now, those same products will be available to everyone thanks to this new partnership with Parts Unlimited.

“For dealers, the best way to introduce us is simple; put a titanium footpeg or an Apex triple clamp in a rider’s hands,” says Le Floch. ■

FFresh Stopping Power

Brake Parts for Hard-Working Machines

or customers putting serious hours on a Can-Am, Polaris RZR or other popular ATV or UTV plat forms, worn brake components are part of the ride. DP Brakes sintered metal brake pads paired with Moose Offroad stainless steel rotors give dealers a complete braking system refresh built for hard use.

DP Brakes focuses exclusively on developing and producing sintered metal brake pads, the same compound technology that comes as original equipment on select Can-Am models.

The pads are GG-friction rated, offer a quick break-in period and deliver consistent stopping power in wet, muddy and dry conditions. An aluminum oxide-based ceramic layer on each backing plate keeps heat away from the caliper piston and brake fluid, reducing fade. The sintered metal compound is designed for long service life, making the pads a strong choice for customers who ride hard.

“At DP Brakes, we … have the experience and technology to offer your customers the upgrade in performance, durability and feel needed to stop these faster and heavier

machines offered today,” says Larry Mills, President of DP Brakes North America. “With DP, you always get what you pay for, with no compromise.”

On the rotor side, DP Brakes produces the Moose Offroad stainless steel brake rotors, which are CAD/CAM laser-cut and finish-ground from 420 high-carbon stainless steel for a distortion-free flat profile. Engineered for greater friction, strength and durability than OE rotors, they’re a direct-fit upgrade that pairs naturally with the DP Brakes pads. ■

Versatility on the Trail Rugged

and Lightweight Titanium Tool

For your customers who are serious about shaving weight from their trail packs without sacrificing capability, Motion Pro has a new addition to its growing lineup of titanium trail tools.

The Ti Combo Drive takes the proven T-handle concept from the company’s popular Tri-Drive Mini T-Handle and elevates it with titanium alloy construction and expanded drive compatibility. Where the original Tri-Drive featured ¼-inch drives exclusively, the Ti Combo Drive adds a 3/8-inch drive on the handle, giving riders access to a broader range of sockets and bits from a single tool.

“We’re excited to add another weight-saving option to our trail tool lineup,” says Motion Pro’s Eric Clay. “During long trail rides or races, saving weight is crucial. Our trail tools help reduce the number of tools you need, easing rider fatigue caused by an overburdened trail pack.”

That means your customers can tackle everything from body work hardware and triple clamp pinch bolts to adjusting bars and controls — all without carrying multiple drivers.

The tool weighs just 2.5 ounces and measures nearly 7 inches along the main shaft with a T-handle that fits the hand comfortably. Despite its compact profile, the Ti Combo Drive is built to work hard.

The 3/8-inch drive carries a maximum torque rating of 48 ft-lb, while the two ¼-inch drives are rated to 44 ft-lb. Precision TIG-welded construction reinforces durability, and titanium’s natural corrosion resistance ensures it holds up in harsh riding conditions. ■

Rough and Ready Sealed-Chain Durability for Enduro Riders

The strain of off-road racing, especially on enduro terrain, puts heavy stress on a motorcycle chain. Regina Chain backs its enduro-focused option with more than 100 years of chain-making experience from its headquarters in northern Italy.

“The 520/135ZSE Enduro Competition chain was born through our intense development process and we include input from the world’s leading enduro racing teams,” says Federico Gualdi, the sales director for Regina’s motorcycle division. “Our goal is to provide the most efficient power transmission to the motorcycle’s rear wheel, with limited friction, light weight and maximum durability.”

and helping the ZSE run smoother for longer. That efficient power transfer gives riders a strong option, not only on enduro terrain, but also on motocross tracks.

Even with the security and long life of the Z-ring seal, the chain keeps a narrow profile. Its width is within half a millimeter of some unsealed chains, so the ZSE can fit machines where a standard O-ring chain might not. Riders still get the low-maintenance durability of a sealed chain.

The ZSE plates are made from high-carbon alloy steel for strength and wear resistance. The gold-colored plates are shot-peened for added wear resistance and longer life. Solid bushings complete the high-quality component mix. ■

During assembly, the chain’s Z-ring seal is squeezed into place. The resulting spring effect creates a strong seal that holds lubricant between the chain plates, limiting friction

Ready in the Rough Rotors

& Pads for Harsh Off-Road Conditions

Off-road riding is hard on brake components. Mud, sand, rocks and repeated hard braking can expose weak spots in a braking system, especially for riders pushing their machines on motocross tracks, enduro trails and rugged terrain. GBrakes developed its off-road rotors and brake pads for those conditions.

“When you don’t know what nature might throw at you from one mile to the next, confidence in braking performance makes all the difference,” says Sandro Milesi, CEO of GBrakes.

The company’s off-road rotors feature a Wave rotor profile designed to improve heat dissipation while reducing overall rotor weight. The design also helps clear away mud and debris while maintaining consistent pad bite. Reduced rotational mass can help improve handling response.

GBrakes rotors are manufactured from hardened stainless steel and receive the company’s Cryo-Tech deep cryo-

genic treatment. That process improves wear resistance and helps reduce warping during aggressive, high-heat riding.

GBrakes brake pads feature the NUCAP NRS retention system, which mechanically locks the friction material to the backing plate using hundreds of steel hooks. This attachment system is engineered to resist heat and moisture while helping prevent friction material separation.

The pads are designed to deliver strong initial bite, smooth modulation and consistent stopping power across a range of off-road riding styles. Together, the rotor and pad lineup gives dealers a braking upgrade option for motocross, enduro, Dual Sport, ATV and off-road riders looking for dependable performance in tough conditions. ■

Ready for Every Ride Brake Pads for Commuters and Classics

Commuting to and from work every day doesn’t always have to be a drag. That’s why plenty of riders choose to take the bike instead of the car. With today’s range of small-displacement options, riding makes the normal routine a lot more fun, but it wears out maintenance parts. Especially brakes.

EBC’s FA Organic series brake pads are engineered and built for everyday riding on everything from lightweight sportbikes to vintage classics. Designed as a direct OEM replacement, the pads provide balanced braking performance, strong control and reduced rotor wear.

“Because organic pads work effectively from cold, they provide stopping power in daily traffic without the need for heat build-up,” says Gareth Preston, Senior Technical

Advisor & Quality Administrator at EBC Brakes. “Their softer compound also makes them a great choice for older or more delicate brake discs.”

The Kevlar aramid fiberbased organic compound is designed for smooth braking response and quiet operation. The pads have also been tested and approved to meet strict brake safety standards.

Whether customers are commuting, touring or keeping an older bike in regular rotation, FA Organic brake pads from EBC give dealers a dependable replacement option for riders looking for smooth lever feel and comfortable operation. ■
