It is with deep gratitude and aloha that I welcome you to this evening’s celebration. Mahalo nui loa for being here as we gather to honor the unsung heroes of Hawaiʻi those whose quiet strength and unwavering dedication uplift our communities and inspire lasting change.
The Pewa Awards are more than a ceremony they are a celebration of the spirit that lives in our communities. Tonight, we lift up those who give of themselves without expectation, who see a need and step forward with compassion and courage. These individuals remind us that true leadership is rooted in service, and that even the smallest acts of aloha can ripple outward to create lasting change.
For over 28 years, Partners in Development Foundation has stood alongside Hawaiʻi’s families, guided by a mission rooted in love, resilience, and service. Since our founding in 1997, we’ve had the privilege of supporting more than 184,000 individuals across our islands. But our greatest measure of success lies not in numbers— it lives in the stories of lives transformed, of keiki who dream bigger, of ʻohana who find hope, and of communities that rise together.
As we gather tonight, let us celebrate not only the accomplishments but the heart behind them. Let us honor the love, the labor, and the legacy of those who give so generously to uplift others. And let us recommit ourselves to this journey together toward a Hawaiʻi where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
Mahalo for your presence, your partnership, and your unwavering belief in the power of aloha.
Mahalo palena ʻole,
Dr. Shawn Malia Kanaʻiaupuni
President and CEO
