In an era of interconnected ecological, social, Develop and political crises,
“Land As Liberation: Visualizing Resurgence” invites students to envision and design transformative futures rooted in Indigenous resurgence, land-based epistemologies, and co-liberatory practices. This course positions land as central to liberation, examining how refusal and resurgence can dismantle oppressive
systems while cultivating pathways toward radical futures.
Taking the framework of desire-based research (Tuck & Yang), the course challenges damage-centered narratives, centering on the generative possibilities and visions of Indigenous, Black, and other marginalized communities. Through this lens, students explored how the reclamation of land and knowledge systems—intertwined with histories of refusal and resistance—can serve as a foundation forDesign imagining and actualizing just and liberate
