Recreational Sports can be big part of a student’s college experience. Whitaker Fields, at the University of Texas at Austin, serves as the primary location for Recreational Sports. Over time, the constant use of the fields has led to needed adjustments and improvements to the facility to continue to provide high quality recreational sports fields. The addition of a synthetic turf area has provided relief to the natural turf fields in terms of programming and scheduling and will add extra flexibility during wet weather. Amenities added to the Whitaker Fields complex attract students to the site beyond the use of the athletic fields. Walking trails, sand volleyball, attractive landscaping and gathering places help to make Whitaker Fields an enjoyable place for students to congregate and also make this site an attractive venue for large tournaments, festivals and even concerts.

In 2010 Parkhill began working with Trinity School of Midland, a higher-end private school in the community, on a Master Plan for their campus in downtown Midland. In 2013, Parkhill began the design process on Phase 1 of three budgeted phases. This phase included a new upper school, multi-use commons and administration spaces. The landlocked property was a challenge Parkhill overcame by adding an upper school and efficiently utilizing all available space. It included a new upper school building, a new commons at the center of the campus, and new administrative offices. The new upper school incorporates two 21st Century learning hubs and new science labs. The spaces are separate from traditional classroom settings with a focus on collaboration and fostering relationships. New teacher work spaces provide a private space for individual work and group discussions.

In 2018, the New Mexico Department of Higher Education approved a $2 Million project outlay for a range of campus flatwork and utility improvements across the grounds for four of Mesalands Community College’s (MCC) seven campus buildings. Parkhill engineers had initially assessed the condition of MCC paving, concrete walks, and drives as early as 2014, and had maintained a deferred maintenance update of sitework conditions and needs in the years since, so that MCC and the State had an updated value of repair/ replacement cost. To eliminate the need to procure A/E services by RFP, the College utilized its partner relationship with Cooperative Educational Services (CES) of New Mexico – a state-recognized buy board – and selected Parkhill as their A/E partner based on our standing on-call services agreement with CES.
Canal Tunnel El Paso Water | El Paso, Texas PROJECT BUDGET $5.2 million

The Robertson Umbenhauer Water Treatment Plant, also referred to as the Canal Water Treatment, is over 75 years old and is located in Downtown El Paso. The plant is located between the Rio Grande and the BNSF railyard. The railyard has existed for more than 100 years, making any infrastructure improvements near the plant very challenging. To address aging infrastructure, El Paso Water wanted to replace existing transmission lines from the plant and build a new pump station. Any pipeline route from the plant required crossing the BNSF railyard and Paisano Drive, a busy TxDOT controlled roadway. To mitigate risk, El Paso Water elected to use a design-build delivery method on this project. The project requires a 66-inch-diameter, 570-foot-long tunnel under 18 active tracks of the railyard. It also requires a second 315-foot-tunnel across a busy TxDOT roadway.

Parkhill and First Presbyterian Church in Midland will be breaking ground in the Fall of 2013 on a master plan for their existing church to connect to the community. The church’s mission is: “Loving and leading all people to a deeper life in Jesus Christ”. They see the ministry focused in two key areas:
