REGIONAL ROADS RAGE Local transport operators call for ring road, better road systems, less congestion

By TIJANA BIRDJAN THE population of Dubbo is expanding daily, but the road conditions and networks have been forgotten. Shadow Minister for Regional Transport Jenny Aitchison, held a consultation in Dubbo last month to discuss road conditions, funding neglect of local transport services, lack of facilities, and the need for a ring road. Representatives from Dubbo businesses and services were invited to the consultation. Ogden’s Coaches Dubbo manager Peter Ogden and his team operate contracted school services in Dubbo, Wellington, Mudgee, Narromine and other nearby regional towns. “The road network is a challenge for us, I’ve been in Dubbo for 15 years, there’s been few improvements with the traffic flow, but obviously with the volume of people coming in, it’s not enough,” Mr Ogden said. “It’s not just the road network, it’s the volume of people getting from one side to the other.” Continued page 3
