The boat ramp dredging project at Bing’s Landing has been postponed until after Labor Day in September. The project was initially scheduled to begin June 1 and close the boat launch for three weeks, but Flagler County announced the delay on May 26. In a statement from Interim County Administrator Adam Mengel, the project was delayed after additional consultation with the Florida Inland Navigation District and after receiving feedback from local commercial and recreational boating industries. FIND is the project’s primary funding source. Flagler County received a $302,500 grant from the organization in October to support the dredging project, with Flagler County supplying a 50% match from boat vessel registration revenue and general revenue available in the Bing’s Landing Master Plan

Improvements Project. The project will remove around 2,500 cubic yards of dredge material out of the boat ramp area, according to the construction contract. The dredge area will include the entire boat ramp and launch area, ending at the banks of the

Intracoastal Waterway. The dredging contract was awarded to Quantum Marine Construction, at the April 6 Flagler County Commission meeting. The work is expected to take three weeks, and the boat launch will be closed for the duration of

the dredging. “They are increasing the depth of the deepest areas, which should be a very good outcome,” Mengel said. “This work would not be possible without the Florida Inland Navigation District. We are very grateful for their partnership.”
