PCPC’s Centennial Spring Tea

Our second annual Centennial Spring Tea was a wonderful success! Fellowship Hall was transformed into a beautiful Royal Tea Room with 18 elegantly decorated tables featuring colorful tablecloths, fine china, stunning centerpieces, and touches of 1920sinspired décor

Guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of tea-time favorites, including finger sandwiches, mini quiche, fruit kabobs, sweet treats, and, of course, scones. Peach tea and lemonade for the little ones were served throughout the afternoon.

In addition to wonderful fellowship and delicious refreshments, guests were entertained by the Peace Trio, who performed beloved old-time favorites and led a sing-along featuring a few well-known ‘oldies but goodies ’ A 1920s-themed photo booth featuring boas, fascinators, pearls, and other vintage props was also a favorite attraction throughout the afternoon.

If you missed this year ’ s tea, be sure to watch for PCPC’s Spring Tea next April. Tables are already being reserved, so contact Jeanne Rowe if you would like to save your spot!

A total of 146 ladies and gentlemen attended, ranging in age from 2 to 95 years old This year, 25 children joined the festivities dressed in their finest attire, looking every bit like little princes and princesses.

80s, 90s & 100s Birthday Celebration

March brought a joyful celebration to PCPC as our Wednesday Night Birthday Dinner honored members in their 80s, 90s, and 100s, while also celebrating the 100th anniversary of our church.

More than 425 members gathered for an evening filled with decorations, balloons, music, games, dinner, and, of course, birthday cake. Guests of all ages attended from one of our youngest members, just a few months old, to our oldest attendee, 95 years young.

As part of PCPC’s Centennial celebration, we also recognized several remarkable church members who are 100 years old and beyond:

· Cretora Biggerstaff: 107

· Hazel Arnett: 104

· Susan Barksdale: 103

· Mary McMillan: 103 on June 30

· Helen Gibbons: 101

· Sally Johnson: 100

Happy Birthday, ladies!!! Please know we are celebrating with you!

Presbyterian Women

The women of PCPC have been so busy this year We started the year off in September with our General Meeting, where we introduced two new circles catering to younger women of the church in their 20s–40s. PCPC now has five circles. Each month, on average, 50 ladies gathered in members’ homes for fellowship and to study His Word

In our beautiful large church, small circles of under 20 are a great way to meet people you may not otherwise get to know. Beautiful friendships and lasting bonds were made throughout the year. I know personally I became close to some ladies I used to just smile and say hi to. Now I feel we are truly friends

If you are new to the church, or, like me, have been here for 50+ years and haven’t come to a PW Meeting or joined a Circle, please join us in September. I just went to my first meeting three years ago, and I’m thankful I finally joined a circle.

Besides meeting monthly, PCPC’s women served the church in many ways throughout the year Ladies helped family members feel loved and supported by serving at nine members’ Celebration of Life receptions held at PCPC. They also delivered Wednesday Night Dinners to members in need.

The Tie That Bind and the Praying Needles made more than 150 baby caps for preemies in the TGH neonatal unit. Over 35 prayer shawls were lovingly crocheted or knitted for members to wrap in comfort. Baby lambs were made to comfort children in need, and baby hedgehogs were made to help fidgeting children during church services

This year we also began a new addition. Nineteen blankets were made and embroidered for PCPC’s graduating seniors in each of their college colors.

At our General Meeting in May, your PCPC Presbyterian Women officers were installed:

President Jeanne Rowe

Vice President Position Open

Treasurer Rhonda Hurst

Recording Secretary Ashley Reiss

Corresponding Secretary Ruth Schlotzhauer

Simple Tips for Healthy Aging

· Spend time with family and friends to stay socially connected

· Eat healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains

· Keep your mind active through reading, puzzles, hobbies, or learning something new
