Parents’ Night Out is an opportunity for parents to have an evening out while children (Infants - 5th Grade) enjoy a fun night at the church. Our Nursery staff is trained in CPR, background checked, and trained in Safe Place. Our adult volunteers/staff have also been background-checked. The evening will include dinner, playtime, and watching a movie. $10/child

We share with the congregation that our Youth Director, Kate Donaldson, will be stepping away from her position in early May.
Kate will be graduating from Asbury Seminary with her Masters in Mental Health Counseling and she feels God calling her towards a different means of care for children and youth. We congratulate Kate on all her hard work and we support her in this next exciting chapter of her life On Sunday, May 3rd, we will have a celebration for Kate at 10:00am Fellowship Hall.

Two committees have been faithfully meeting for nearly two years to help guide this process:

The Steering Committee is responsible for the overall structure and execution of the campaign, including reviewing funding priorities and submitting them to the Session.

Ezra Committee
The Ezra Committee is focused on visioning and planning, developing renovation and programming priorities aligned with PCPC’s mission. They coordinate with the Finance and Buildings & Grounds Committees to ensure thoughtful budgeting and implementation.

Additionally, an Ambassadors Team of volunteers serves as liaisons between PCPC, the Steering Committee, the Session, the Congregation, and community at large. They provide guidance, counsel, and feedback on the Campaign, participate in awareness efforts designed to support the Campaign, and will host Holy Conversation meetings.

By unanimous vote, the Centennial Campaign has officially begun, and we give thanks for the shared vision and commitment that have brought us to this moment As excitement grows for the improvements we hope to make, we also want to offer clarity about what lies ahead
This next season will involve careful planning and discernment, including design, engineering, solicitation of bids, permitting, and coordination of materials well before any construction begins During this time, the Ezra Team will continue to prayerfully prioritize projects from our shared wish list The campaign will also require meaningful time for fundraising before plans are finalized
When construction does take place, there will be periods of noticeable impact to our shared spaces, and we ask for your patience and understanding during those times
The Ezra Team is deeply grateful for your continued support as we move forward together. If you have questions or would like to learn more, please feel free to speak with any member of the Ezra Team. We remain committed to working through the many details necessary to bring these hopes into reality.
Nancy Callahan, PCPC’s Music Dir
Nancy Callahan has shared with the Session her plan to retire as Music Director at PCPC as of the last Sunday in May of this year (May 31). The Session has received this news with profound appreciation for her ministry at PCPC.
Her remarkable tenure as Music Director at PCPC has been a wonderful blessing providing superlative musical leadership and excellence in music in worship. She has served at PCPC since 2005 (20+ years!). Prior to that, Nancy served as Director of Music at Hyde Park United Methodist Church for 25 years. Nancy graduated from college with her B.A., and then obtained her Master’s in Music from the University of South Carolina.
Her skills have not only included being an excellent choral conductor but also an outstanding organist and pianist She is a past Dean of the American Guild of Organists, a past participant in the Spoleto Festival in organ concert and choral conducting, and has taken chancel choirs on tour to London, Florence, Vienna, Paris, Edinburgh, Rome, Cologne, Washington DC , Normandy, and Dublin, singing in major cathedrals and churches all along the way
Nancy serves as the director of the Tampa Oratorio Singers, and has conducted many major choral works with professional orchestras in concert at PCPC, including works by Brahms, Fauré, Beethoven, Handel, Dvorak, Gounod, Mendelssohn, and Bach, and as the featured chorus with the Florida Symphony Orchestra at multiple Christmas concerts. Her annual presentation with chorus and orchestra of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah has become a centerpiece of their observance for hundreds.
In addition to the beauty of music in worship, her ministry has included the joy and energy of an annual summer Music Camp for children and youth from the community with a production on Sunday morning rivaling Broadway for set design and enthusiasm At PCPC her responsibilities have included overseeing the entire music program, including two children’s choirs and a handbell choir Her playing both organ, the piano, and piano medleys has beautifully accompanied over 2,000 weddings, funerals and special seasonal services Pastor John DeBevoise calculates that in her career Nancy has directed and played over 5,000 Sunday worship services
Her professional competence has been complemented by the grace of her hospitality and the welcome of her home, the personalization of her care for singers and friends, her remarkable network of relationships with musicians across the southeast, and an unusual c it f h d k ith i l dl stamina.
One long-term member of the choir said,
“For singers it has always felt like Nancy was working with us to make us better, to support us and lead us. It always seemed that she was our passionate advocate.”
Pastor DeBevoise said,
“Nancy’s music ministry has been an enormo powerful articulation of the beauty, truth an of the Christian faith. Our tenderness at this closing is mitigated by our awareness of the blessing her talent and leadership has been community, this congregation, and Christ’s C
Nancy is looking forward to more frequently tr her mountain home in NC and throwing hersel yard work and home maintenance that has so o her passion and therapy
There will be a reception between morning wo services in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday May 3 , the church will recognize her wonderful career with several presentations.
Following Nancy’s retirement, the Session will be guided by its Music Committee in determining future staffing. Wade Fitzgerald will continue as the Interim Organist in this chapter.

PW has been celebrating the year through Fellowship, studying His Word, by serving PCPC, and just having fun. Our annual Christmas Coffee was held at Marsha Martin's beautiful home. It was great to see our two new circles of women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s represented so well.
With the amazing donation of time and décor, Ian Prosser and Joe Duncan transformed PCPC’s sanctuary for the Advent Season. PW thanks them for all their time, talents, and gift to PCPC. The ladies decorated our Chrismon tree with new Chrismons from the Bel-Mar Community as well as PCPC’s ornaments from the 1970’s that were refurbished this year by the Bel-Mar Bible Study group. The tree simply shone with love and beauty It was a gorgeous Christmas Season!
The Ties that Bind have worked hard over the years providing baby caps for sweet little preemies at TGH. Since June, they have already knitted and crocheted 150 baby caps, 25 hedgehogs, and other small stuffies PCPC children hold and love during our Sunday services. Soon they will be making octopuses which are used to cover the IVs in the hospital to make the environment less intimidating for children (or parents!) This group of ladies has already donated 377 hours of their time knitting and crocheting for the children in our community The Ties That Bind meets every Tuesday from 3-4pm in the Hospitality Room next to the Chapel.
In the last month, a second group of women, the Praying Knitters, have begun to knit and crochet prayer shawls for PCPC members who need to be wrapped in love. In just one month, 15 Prayer Shawls have been made Each will be blessed by a pastor, then delivered to members in need Currently these ladies are working from their own homes If you need a pattern, drop by the church office and Susan Frost can give you a copy There is even some yarn there if you need it
PW has served PCPC throughout the year. When memorial services have been followed by receptions at PCPC, several ladies have been there to assist. Women have delivered Wednesday Night Dinners to members dealing with illness We are grateful for this service and fellowship!

Strengthening PCPC for the Next Century: Installation of Eight Belfry Louvers to Begin April 7
Sinclair Construction is scheduled to begin work on installing eight new louvers on the steeple on Tuesday, April 7. This is the final step of the steeple repair work, and is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks
Louvers are the black domed structures that allow for ventilation. The new louvers will also help prevent water intrusion.
During this time, you may notice equipment such as man lifts and cranes on the campus of PCPC. A portion of the courtyard will be temporarily closed to accommodate construction equipment and materials.
Every effort will be made to have the area tidy prior to Sunday worship and Wednesday Night Dinner. Thank you for your patience.
