The mission of the Pallas textile department is to develop the field of textile art and design through various activities. An important part of this is applied research, which has become an integral part of the textile studies at the department. One area of research is the investigation and application of innovative technological methods in addition to the already known ways to make textiles. The innovative MultiWeave weaving technique invented by the department’s professor Kadi Pajupuu gives an opportunity to see traditional craft techniques through an unexpected prism — a method of creation that combines the principles of weaving with 3D printing technology.
