Drugs are substances that impose severe effects on the physical as well as mental health of the person. They are of various types and their effects vary from moderate to severe depending upon their usage. All the drugs are not dangerous for a person, especially which are recommended by doctors for certain medical treatment for the limited time. If they are taken in excessive amounts, the person gets habitual to this substance and keeps on taking this. There are many other chemical compounds that are strictly prohibited for human use due to their adverse effects. They affect consciousness and alertness of a person leading to severe behavioral and emotional changes. When a person takes again and again; he becomes addicted and cannot feel relaxed without using them. This is called drug abuse and it does not go away without proper medical assistance.
How drug dependency occurs? A lot of people suffer from anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders due to certain socio-economical crises. Most of the side effects go away when their use is discontinued. It is easy for the person to leave the drug as compared to longer drug addiction. Short term effects include: Dizziness Appetite changes Mood swings Digestive system disturbance Loss of control of body coordination Long term effects If they are used in larger amounts and for longer times, it is difficult to leave until proper treatment is persuaded. A person cannot control his desire of taking more drugs; even he wants to skip the use. Long term usage has severe effects on physical and mental health. It becomes a great struggle for the affected person to control his actions. For example, a lot of people around us are addicted to nicotine; a compound found in cigarettes. They are at high risk of lung cancer. In the same way, long term alcohol usage potentially damages the liver and kidneys. What is the solution to drug addiction? Drug addiction is a serious problem and is increasing day by day especially in the young generation. Many females are also becoming victims. Whatever the reason they start taking drugs, if not addressed can lead to miserable conditions in the end. It is the responsibility of each person to observe such cases around him and convince them to visit a drug rehabilitation center so that they can eliminate this habit.
