At Studio S, we endeavour to create fashion that pays homage to the arts. To that end, we are proud to unveil our latest bridal couture collection that takes its name and inspiration from the life and work of an eminent painter and an enigmatic woman, ‘Amrita Sher-Gil.’ The ‘Amrita Sher-Gil’ collection comprises seven couture pieces each one inspired by a painting or photograph of the dynamically complex Sher-Gil. Her paintings, Three Girls, Hill Women and Self Portrait with Easel, and four black and white photographs, are the seven points of reference that have come together to create haute couture at its conceptual best. As these sentimental references reveal, Sher-Gil was a woman ahead of her time. Today she is hailed as one of the most important painters of 20th century India. With this collection we hope to show a mere glimpse of her avant-garde spirit.

This peach and white outfit had the perfect fall to make any girl feel like a princess. A “twirl” felt like the best way to show the beautiful work all around. I kept my hair open and wore this long polki necklace to break the symmetry of the design which I think really complements the whole look.

This white mukaish outfit had a “Mastani” feel to it so I decided to emulate Deepika Padukone’s makeup from that movie – heavy kolh eyes and nude lips. I mixed it up a bit by keeping my hair on one side and wearing small pearl drop

This short jacket and pants made me feel like the boss lady. I tied my hair in a bun and wore nude peep toes to keep the color palette of the entire outfit the same. The embroidery work on the shirt and the ban neckline did not leave room for accessories so I just went with a chunky statement ring.

nowadays, all the rage is about looking naturally glowing and not going over the top with contouring during the day and to keep the whole look subtle with flawless skin so here I will tell you how to achieve this particular daytime look.

CONCEAL YOUR IMPERFECTIONS: First and foremost, conceal your dark circles and pigmentation anywhere on your face. My favourite is Nars radiant creamy concealer because it blends in easy as you add layers to build it up. PERFECT YOUR SKIN: For daytime you don’t want heavy coverage so apply a light coverage foundation which blends in perfectly such as Chanel vita lumiere Aqua foundation. Apply it with a small stippling brush or a beauty blender. WORK ON YOUR EYES: Use soft brown eyeshadows during the day and for that I use a mac warm neutral palette. It has all sorts of browns and golds. This palette can be used to transition your look in to a night time look. LINE THOSE EYES AND FLUTTER THOSE LASHES: Lining your eyes with a black pencil or kajal is so 2015! It’s all about the flesh coloured eye pencils now! To give a more 'awake' look, apply a flesh coloured pencil to your waterline and add layers of mascara on your upper and lower lashes because “Twiggy” lashes have made a comeback! Flesh coloured pencil by Sephora is a winner and telescopic mascara by L’Oréal is better than most of the high end mascaras. COLOUR YOUR CHEEKS: My cult favourite blush is “Orgasm” by Nars! It is peachy pink with golden shimmer and adds the right amount of luminosity on the apples of your cheeks. LIPS: during the day,I like the lipcolour to be pink with an undertone of beige. I have used ‘Bombshell’ from Huda Beauty liquid lip contour 38

AMIRAH ABBASI SAT DOWN WITH THE VOICE OF REIDI GUL FROM JANAAN, YUSRA IQBAL, TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS MESMERIZING ARTISTS PERSONA THAT INTRIGUES. When did you come to the realization that you were talented in singing? I can't really say a number but I've been aware of it for as long as I can remember. What other areas of art have you indulged in? Before architecture, I was doing art in most random ways possible, like any other kid, from sketching to making homemade candles; I've acted and assisted in choreography in a theatre play a long time ago. Also, I enjoy photography too! Is your artist inclination limited to singing? Not at all! But I'm definitely most passionate about singing. What encouraged you to pursue singing professionally? My friends. Was there a defining moment? I always knew I wanted to sing. It honestly just happened out of nowhere. Do you have a strong inclination towards a specific genre in music? Considering I'm all about singing, I'm never updated on the playlist, But I believe I enjoy our classical music the most. I feel I connect to it rather more. Have you trained in singing and music since a young age? Nope, but I plan to. How did Janaan and Reidi Gul come to happen? The producer of the film was a judge for this talent hunt of my college, and I was not even a contestant. I randomly went up to the stage at the end of the night and right after he got in touch with me. How has the experience been for you? Absolutely amazing!
What is one question that nobody asks you but you wish they did? I'll tell you what's that one question that everyone asks and I wish they didn't. ‘What do you keep in your headscarf/turban?' Haha, stop it already. What advice would you give to a younger you? Don't confuse what's not worth it with what is. Are there any upcoming projects we should be excited for? Hopefully, something good should be coming very soon. If you could sing a duet with a singer of your choice, who would it be? This is a tough one! Hmm, has to be Abida Parveen. Who are your real life heroes? My parents. What is a superpower you wish you had? To sleep without closing my eyes, No! To travel in time and be invisible. Also to have a magic wand, oh, how I wish I had gotten that letter to Hogwarts! You don't want me to tell you that. What is your style mantra? Don't wear it because they'd approve of or like it. Wear whatever you like! Your dressing is basically clothes describing your personality and beliefs. Don't worry too much of what people have to say, they always have something to say. You’re most favorite word? You don't want me to tell you that here. What do you do on a Sunday? I like spending time with my family and friends, or watch 'FRIENDS', the show, all day long!

Our favourite moment at the show was when Seher Tareen took the finale walk with her son Hussain!
The Gold Bridal was a work of art! Inspired by two photographs, one of the young Amrita & the other of her sister Indira- both taken by their father, Umaro Singh Sher-Gil in 1924. Both photographs were later used by Vivan Sundaram’s installation, “Four Black Boxes for the Family” 1995. 2016
