Travelling is great fun. You get to explore a new place, meet new people and get wiser! We want to know more and will share with you exciting travel stories from a few special people in our section, planes, trains & automobiles! Where did you choose to go and why? I went to Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul is my favourite city in the world! If you’re an art and history enthusiast like me, you will never get tired of this city as it never fails to inspire. A city so rich in culture, history, art and religion. There’s always something waiting to be discovered on every visit. This served as a perfect source of inspiration for my new furniture line, Gaia Interiors. Who did you travel with? I travelled with my husband. Where did you stay? As it was a 7-day trip, we divided our time between two major parts of the city. Taksim Square and Sultanahmet.

By Taksim, we stayed at a cosy little hotel "Odda" about 2-minute walk from the Istiklal Street, which leads straight to Taksim Square. At Sultanahmet, we stayed at "Four Seasons" which was a mini vacation on its own and is just a 5-minute walk from The Blue Mosque. What are the best shopping spots there? Istiklal Street has a variety of local turkish labels such as OXXO, Along with some international labels, such as Zara, H&M etc. The two malls worth a visit are Cevahir and Istinye Park Mall. For high-end brands, Abdi pekçi Street in Ni anta is the place to go. Suggest some amazing restaurants there? Istanbul is all about experiencing the energy of the city

Suggest places for a perfect night out Reina is a stunning fine dining restaurant with an amazing ambiance. It’s an open restaurant with the picturesque view of the Bosphorus bridge and Istanbul’s coastline! Which later turns into an upscale club with amazing music after 11pm. Be sure to have your hotel make a reservation well in advance if you're headed there on the weekend! What can you do over there to relax and unwind? Grab snacks, take a local tram to Kabatas port, sit on a local ferry as they leave every 30 minutes or so. And watch the world go by! Finally, any tips? Do plan but the key is to never over plan! Leave some to spontaneity as it leads to the best adventures and memories that last a lifetime!

Tell us about the sights no one should miss out on. In no particular order, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Princess Island, Dolmabache Palace, Blue Mosque, Istanbul Archaeological Museum, Istiklal Street, Exploring the Old City and streets of Sultanahmet by walk. Since Istanbul is one of the most historically rich city in the world, there are relics lurking at every corner. Which makes it quite impossible to cram all the sightseeing in a 7-day trip, thus it’s
best to take the Bosphorus cruise along with a good, local guide, as it can be highly informative, the shortest course in history!

as a local! Thus “Bambi Cafe” which is right across Taksim Square is a popular roadside doner joint. Their beef/ chicken cheese doners are absolutely divine! If you're on the Sultanahmet side of the city, "Pasha Cafe & Pub" offers a great variety of their local BBQ Kebabs. Their "Iskender Kebab Platter" is worth a try. Finally, if you're looking to satisfy those sweet tooth cravings, head over to "Haafiz Mustafa" which has an array of assorted local sweet delicacies. My absolute favourite was “Trilece”, which is a Turkish version of bread pudding but only ten times better. One of the best desserts I’ve had till date. And if you’re looking to be experimental, their local delicacy “Cheese Kunafa” served with vanilla ice cream is worth a try at least once!
