PAPERAZZI MAGAZINE

2020

Did you stumble upon your career or was it something that you always wanted? Creativity has always been in my genes. My mom is a fashion designer and was always creative. I as a child used to be obsessed with everything related to beauty - lipsticks, eyeshadows, nail colours, hair accessories, face creams, makeup products. Anything and everything related to beauty used to fascinate me. However, it wasn't until my final year at college that I thought of pursuing makeup as a career. In fact during my school years I wanted to become a dentist and even had sciences as my subjects! Did you ever consider or experience a career change? Oh yes, as I mentioned during my school years I wanted to become a dentist and I was a science student. Then I studied business and marketing as my college subjects which was a total shift! And now here I am - a makeup artist and running a salon! So i pretty much shifted in between. Did you ever feel discouraged mid way your routine? How did you push through it? Yes, there are moments of weakness when I'm drained (especially after becoming a mom) There is just so much on my plate at times but then I tell myself that if I've come such a long way I can surely go further ahead so I never want to quit!

again. Also, that you need to be a leader first in order to be a boas. Name one boss lady that inspired you take your own path, and how did she inspire you? My mom for sure. She's inspired me ever since I was a child. Watching her lead in everything she does is what inspired me. Be it managing the house or her work. I’ve seen how she leads her own boutique and over a 50 plus male employees at her workshop yet not compromising on her personal life. She gives me super woman vibes! Describe a typical day in (insert name)’s life? A typical day would be waking up, having breakfast ( I never skip that no matter what) getting my baby girl (Haya) and myself ready for work. Checking up on my appointments, interviews, salon schedule and then planning the day along accordingly! Also making sure my husband Shahraiz and I get to have some good quality time once we're home after work. That's my favourite time of the day as we get to unwind after putting Haya to sleep and spend some quality time with each other, discuss the whole day, seek each others advices and watch our favourite tv show or movie with dinner together!

“TO ME A #BOSSLADY IS SOMEONE WHO IS A LEADER, HARDWORKING AND NEVER GIVES UP NO MATTER WHAT!”

What are the top three things that you cherish the most in your life? A loving and supportive husband and a beautiful baby girl, I feel they keep me going and are a source of constant happiness in my life. My parents and loved ones who care for me and always have my back. And my work that is more of my passion and something I enjoy doing! What is the #1 thing yet to be ticked off your bucket list? That my brand's services and customer care is looked at as the new benchmark for the beauty industry of Pakistan. What does nobody tell you about being the boss? That it's not all glitz and glamour. You need to work extremely hard, day and night to be a boss lady! And that there are times you fail but you need to stand back up

Complete this sentence, ‘To me a #BossLady is…’ Someone who is a leader, hardworking and never gives up no matter what!

A lesson your biggest failure might have taught you? That everything happens for a reason. Even a failure can be a blessing in disguise so always try to learn from it rather than be demotivated. I try to learn from my mistakes and make sure I don't repeat them again. Which world leader would you most like to have dinner with? Queen Rania! What advice would you give to young girls who look upto you and have goals and dreams like you? I would tell them that success doesn't come over night, you need to be consistent and determined in whatever you choose to do. You're a woman and that's your super power. Put in your heart and think with a positive mind - and always remember positivity attracts good things your way!

ho is Dr. OBT? Dr. Osman Bashir Tahir.

my board certification exam in Aesthetic Medicine, and numerous global visiting fellowships in my field, before I began Tell us a little about your edu- Halcyon Medical Centre at the beginning of 2011. cation? I graduated with an MBBS from King Edward Medical college, then pursued What inspired you to become a career in surgery and did my 2 years a dermatologist? I like to call myself Pakistan’s first qualiof basic surgical training in London. fied Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon. Aesthetic I qualified in surgery from the Royal medicine was a part of my training and College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I I have also qualified in it. Aesthetic medthen did my Masters in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery (5years) , from icine is the field that is shared between a dermatologist and a plastic surgeon. KEMU. After that I completed my MSc in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery from Queen This field is one in which nonsurgical Mary University of London (3years). I did aesthetics (eg. Botox, fillers) , skin care

and lasers are performed. Today, many doctors are becoming ‘aesthetic physicians’ right after MBBS, but after attending a few days course!!! I believe ‘core’ residency training in plastic surgery or dermatology is a must before practicing on patients. I say this because most complications worldwide are due to untrained aesthetic practitioners some of whom are not even medically qualified! In Pakistan there is no regulation, hence many quacks are practicing! Tell us some famous procedures at your clinic? Face sculpt is popular these days, our clinical facials and laser hair removal is the best in town. On the surgical side I do a lot of tummy tucks, nose jobs, facelifts and liposuction. Fat transfer with stem cells is a personal favorite procedure these days for faces and body rejuvenation. What is your favourite procedure? Nonsurgical - Dermal fillers. Aesthetic Surgery- Facelifts. What do you think makes you stand out from all other dermatologists? The fact that I am fully trained, with unique foreign qualifications and I have experience of over 16 years in surgery and 12 years in nonsurgical aesthetics. You can’t compare me to any plastic surgeon or dermatologist in Pakistan as nobody performs the variety of procedures that I do.For ex. In a normal day I treat acne and scars of a 15 year old girl, and then I perform a facelift on an 80year old lady! What do you suggest for clogged pores? A consultation. A lot of people have a misconception that Botox can ruin your face. What do you have to say about this? In untrained hands anything can happen. Go to someone who has been doing it for a dozen years and you are in safe hands. Can you tell us some tips for a younger more beautiful skin? A beautiful outside begins on the inside. Nothing is more beautiful than a beautiful heart. Eat healthy, pray, meditate, exercise and consult with me if you want to look your best at every age! 2020

Where did you go? I wanted to checkout the actual Game of Throne’s shooting locations inside Croatia since a while and I planned it along with a music festival within the same dates. I Chose to stay 5 days at Dubnovrik ( The city where most of King’s landing is shot ) along with the city of Qarth amongst others. I added another 3 days in Split and Hvar ( which happened to be hosting the Ultra Music Festival, Europe ) and one of the most scenic places in the region. So overall it was a lot of fun & adventure.

travel diaries

This part of the trip I was traveling solo. Where did you stay? Between my 8 days at Croatia, I was 5 days in Dubrovnik ( an awesome Airbnb with a view of the King’s Landing Castle ) , and 3 days in Split (Airbnb) including 2 day trips to the island of Hvar & Lokrum.

Best food places to visit. Downtown Dubnovrik is lined up with some excellent street cafes and restaurants. My Favourites were Azur & Bistro Revelin. Plenty of choices for everyone and a lot of seafood!

travel diaries

Tips? • Dubnovrik can get really expensive in season and with last minute bookings so book well in advance (since 90% of the population of the city is tourists) • A lot of nearby Balkan countries are accessible on a 3-5 hour journey ( Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia. Slovenia ) so you can take day tours or short trips to these cities too. • Travel light and be a little spontaneous here, Night Walks, Hiking and Group Tours can be experiences!

horoscope

Our fab astrologer Zahid Haider, styles up your stars. Find out what’s in store for you this week!

For your in-depth weekly forecast call 0322-757-5219 E-mail: happyhaider65@gmail.com

ARIES (MAR. 21- APRIL 20) “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Revisit Winston Churchill’s words at the start of every day for the next seven days. You will be faced with challenges; obstacles that make you question the chosen path. Ultimately, it is your will to win against all odds that will take you closer to the final destination. Aries, this is a time to call your power back and remember what you are truly made of. TAURUS (APR. 21- MAY 21) Making money is only one part of the equation. Making your money work for you is the true marker of management abilities—a skill you’re learning to perfect in 2020. Yes, you may have to cut a few corners this week. Trust that future you will thank you for the compromises you have made. For some, this may be a time of investing in their own business. Marry your enterprising side with your creative genius and watch the magic unfold.

SCORPIO (OCT. 24 - NOV. 22) What do you do when faced with injustice? Scorpio, these are dark times that we have found ourselves in. It's easy to get triggered or play the blame game. However, letting your lower self overrule will prove to be counterproductive. Word for the wise: stay connected to your higher wisdom. This is the only way to inspire change and bring about a love revolution. SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 23 -DEC. 21) Two words: smart investments. Putting your money on a studio, for instance, or refurbishing your current space in a way that supports your vision. Consider the ten-year plan, Sagittarius. The life you are consciously creating for yourself. This will help you make the right choices. This is also the week for you to get in touch with the creative genius within. Expand your skill set. Remind yourself of your own power and potential.

GEMINI (MAY 22-JUNE 21) Let’s talk about anger, resentment and regret. They all stem from our past experiences; reminders of the battles that left us bruised. Where are you vibrating at, Gemini? Know that holding onto the negative emotions is blocking the stream of joy, prosperity and love. This week, you’re being asked to hit the reset button. Being in the present is the best way to recognize the opportunities that are being offered to you in this moment.

CAPRICORN (DEC 22.- JAN. 20) “Would you rather live your life according to the approval of others, or aligned with your truth and your dreams?” A Robin Sharma quote to awaken you. Remember, you are the architect of your reality. See how and where you need to realign. As you do, let go of the need to please others - this includes your parents and loved ones too. The only way you can be truly happy is by following your passion and creating a life that sparks joy within you. Dealing with change is going to be a major theme towards the end of the week. It's okay to not know what lies on the other side of this transition. The divine plan is perfect and without a flaw. Word for the wise: breathe.

CANCER (JUNE 22-JULY 22) Full moon: a time of fullness, a time of manifestation, a time of experiencing the bounty you have consciously been working towards. La Luna illuminated your sign this weekend, bringing with herself many blessings, including that feeling of knowing you are exactly where you need to be. Make 2020 count, moonchild. In the realm of creativity, you are channeling some of your best ideas right now. Be present to them. You will soon gain insight on how to give them a concrete form.

AQUARIUS (JAN. 21.- FEB. 19) You are entitled to your opinions and they are entitled to theirs. Beware of walking into that Clash of the Titans situation. Find a way to communicate your thoughts in a non-violent manner. This is the only way to get others on board. Some of you could be dealing with ups and downs on the personal front. But, do you really want to bring the drama into your professional space? Something to think about when you find yourself triggered.

LEO (JULY 23-AUG 22) “We don’t realize that somewhere within us all, there does exist a supreme self who is eternally at peace.” An Eat Pray Love quote that describes your state of mind better this week. You may find yourself particularly withdrawn and in no mood for company. Accept your newfound lone wolf status. Everybody needs solitude once in awhile, Leo. It is in this space of deep silence that you will process the unprocessed emotions and find the wisdom and the courage you seek. Who knows? A guest appearance from The Muse will change the course of your work unexpectedly.

PISCES (FEB. 20-MAR. 20) Let’s take a look at your material possessions, Pisces. Are they a source of joy and inspiration, or have they been retained because you cannot bear the idea of parting with them? Stagnant energy could just be the reason good chi is unable to enter your sacred space. Something to think about as you resist cleaning out your closet today. A word to consider now and for the rest of the year: minimalism. You know what they say? Adopting this philosophy is not about having less. It’s about making room for more of what truly matters.

VIRGO (AUG. 23 -SEPT. 23) It’s never too late to fall in love with life. Your thoughts exactly, Virgo. You are on top of your game; achieving the things you once thought were impossible. Your newfound fervor is helping you approach even the problems with the precision of a Zen Master. Your positivity is making you a powerhouse of creative solutions. The best part about this chapter of your life: you’re not doing the tango alone. Your soul crew is celebrating the victories with you. BAKHTAWAR BHUTTO

LIBRA (SEPT. 24 -OCT. 23) Joshua Becker describes minimalism as “intentionally living with only the things I really need—those items that support my purpose,” busting the myth that the concept is about possessing less. As a descendant of Venus, you’re known for your extravagant lifestyle. But the turn of the decade is bringing about a new sense of self, one who is determined to live a more purposeful existence. This week finds you stepping out of the consumerist culture, letting go of the idea of who you are supposed to be, and aligning yourself with a life that sparks joy within.
