an you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do? I am an artist and like to call myself image maker. I work in various mediums from photography to designing spaces. I have an exhibition coming up at Taseer Art Gallery. Other than that, I am working with Oasis school for Autism in Lahore where I’m trying to teach communication through visual arts. What’s Integral to the work of an Artist? Passion, patience and consistency. What influences you? I don’t think one can single out a single factor
that has influenced them or their art practice. It’s a mixture of factors that shapes you. But there was an instance when I was in 3rd year of my bachelor’s when I read a passage from Murakami’s Kafka on the Shore, and the same day I happened to watch Tarkovsky’s Mirror. These two things came to me as revelation and set my path straight. Then some time later I saw a documentary called Space is Process by Olafur Eliasson and that is when it hit me that this is what I am interested in. What profession would you have been in if you weren't an artist? Other than being an artist I’d like to design
or make buildings and cars. But then again that is art at the end of the day! What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? There’ve been two, but the gist is same: “if you hang around the barber shop for long enough, you’re gonna get a haircut eventually” and “kabaar kay sath juray raho, one day it will become an antique” What challenges did you come across, if any since you first started your career? Being an artist is a challenge, continuing as an artist is another. Where do you see yourself in the forthcoming years? I am looking at exhibiting on bigger and more prominent platforms and doing more ambitious projects. If you were to give a piece of advice to an impassioned artist, what would it be? Keep experimenting, keep it real, keep it original. Art is beyond not about expressing your feelings. Share something more with the world.

Where did you choose to go and why? Vietnam was a convenient location - not too far, not too expensive yet exotic with good beaches, great history and even better food. We started our journey in Ho Chi Minh City where we did a motorbike tour and went to the Chu chi tunnels. We then went to Hoi An, the most beautiful ancient town and took a day trip to My Son ancient ruins. We flew to Hanoi and did a day trip to Halong Bay, which is definitely a trip of a lifetime!

Tell us the most exciting thing you did during your trip? The motorcycle tour in Ho Chi Minh was the perfect way to see the city; war museums were very interesting and showed the history of the ‘American war’ as everyone in Vietnam likes to call it.

Any tips? Organize your visas through your hotels - it’s very quick and efficient. Pre book hour tours so you can get the best packages. Try to visit as many cities as possible since Vietnam has so much to offer!
