What is the concept and purpose for the campaign? Rosé isn’t just a brand. It is a concept based on customization, self-expression and an educative incentive. The reason why custom jeans exist is because not long ago, I found an absence in the denim market when I wanted to write my favourite quote (by a historian I learned about at university) on a pair of jeans and figured I had to buy my own jeans and do my own painting. There is an educative incentive, because what you read on the jeans might teach you something new. In addition, there’s this idea of expressing

and presenting what you’re interested in and can also be some quote or poem you’re an author of yourself. When did you realize you wanted to pursue this career? So firstly, it was something I did for myself since I was always into dressing out of the norm and being stylish. However, every time I wore the pair of jeans whether it be both abroad or in Pakistan, there was always someone who asked where they were from and if I could make them a pair. Eventually (over a year ago), when I moved back
WITH SHAHROSE CHAUDRI OF ROSÉ JEANS after graduating from politics and law, and saw how much attention it grabbed in the fashion world and also beyond that, I gave it a try by launching and designing pieces for both people in Lahore and London. How has this one year been? What have you learned and experienced? It’s been a blessed year, I have learned that these jeans are very marketable and instagrammable :) But I have also learned that producer-consumer relations are very important and it is very important to be able to deal
with customers as some are very difficult, while others are very relaxed, clearly there’s a diverse world out there and that resulted in customer satisfaction being a priority for me! Furthermore, it is important to stay organized and in contact with your suppliers. This country has a bunch of ambitious and strong work ethic people to work with. If anything I’ve learned how much potential Pakistan has in order to becoming a successful platform for new ideas to be promoted and outsourced. Who or what was your inspiration? The creativity just struck my mind one day! After that didn’t let anyone or anything hold me back and tried a new experiment by listening to myself. Did you have any fears when starting your own business? What were they? There’s always a bit of fear, the fact that I wasn’t permanently based in one place was one of them, and secondly, starting and managing everything on my own individually did often raise questions about hiring a team and being able to rely on the right people. In addition, of course whether or not it’s going to be successful is always a fear, but that’s the whole point of investing, if you never try you’ll never know and investments are all about taking risks. What is your favourite part of being a custom denim designer? The fact that I get to learn something new each time and so much about each customer! This Producer-Consumer relationship keeps the real life interaction an educational experience and several times when a customer is confused about choosing a quote I always ask them about their personalities, favourite book, movie, song and the list goes on.
evolve over time, it’s always great to expand and make it better! So hoping for improvement and expansion! Stay Tuned for the website consisting of an interesting photo gallery Who do you want to work with in future? Are there any particular celebrities you want to dress? No specific names, just people and brands who understand the brand’s concept and respect it as much as I do What is fashion to you? Fashion to me is personality, it’s a way to express and present yourself! All the slogans displayed in the Rosé campaign illustrate what fashion is, therefore, the reason why fashion is “self-expression”, is because it allows individuality to be a trend and one should grasp on to that individuality, which further shows that one believes confidence is key! Furthermore, fashion allows you to make a statement and because of that you know when you dress up its all about you!. In terms, of the jeans, rosé wants your jeans to speak for you because you can customize and choose jeans which you actually like! Any advice to young future entrepreneurs? Always value your brand and ideas! When something strikes your mind and you feel like it has potential and could work, rather than holding yourself back or questioning your confidence, trust yourself and experiment, take the risk and try! You’re never going to get a hundred percent – there will be criticism but the strongest people accept that and only become confident and do better.
What kind of criticism do you face? And what is your response to the criticism? Probably price, and my response is very straightforward: if someone thinks it’s too expensive I’ll try to compensate as much as I can, but if not then I do know that I have a certain quality of jeans which get made according to certain requirements and standards, and the rest of the designing is all handmade which involves a lot of effort and perfection. What are your future plans? Do you want to expand your business? When a brand begins to develop and 2019
